The Eleaf basic kit I bought for my husband included a GS Air 2 tank. The coils were .75 and 1.0, so I ordered the 1.5 ohm coils. I sure hope they don't stop making them, or I'm going to have to learn how to rebuild them.
It seems to be a great little tank!:vapor:
This is the place!
Cheech and some others is your guide.

btw has anyone ordered the 1.5 coils from FT?

Think
I made another attempt at recoiling the clone coil.

I couldn't find a drill bit that would fit well in the slots. I did have some finish nails that fit but they were only about 1.8mm. I remembered that some people build oval coils. I cut the heads off 2 of the nails and superglued them together. I wrapped 6 wraps of 28g. I torched it and compressed with tweezers. It came out to 1.15 ohms. So far it's working.

There's plenty of vertical space for the oval coil and it makes wicking with Ko Gen Do easier. I might do all my recoils of the GS coils this way.

Just an FYI.
I got a set of Metric micro bits from Harbor Freight. Item # 61526.
.5 , .6, .8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.0, 2.35, and 3.0 mm sizes and multiples of each size.
Was only $3 on sale.

Experts who actually tried them will be along, reports of restricted airflow...
Was wondering mostly about rebuild cores?

I like .75 ohm but understand they are a pin to rebuild so I figured I would just build 1.5 coils into .75's?

Had 4 boxes of 1.5 but piffed them out to a smoker along with a basic and an extra tank.

You can drill out the bottom pins to increase the airflow a bit, it's not that hard with a pair of pliers and a drill.
Please keep us posted as I like the .75 coils!

If you want to use them for rebuilding, they are a little different from the stock ones. I don't recommend them at all because they don't interchange with the stocks.

You have to remove the middle of the top on those don't ya?
I pulled everything out of the bottom on one. Think I see a tight seam about .5 mm in from the top edge.
Need to make a jig to work that I think.

I have enough .75's for a couple of years but this is a challenge.

If you're talking about the .75 coils, yeah, they have the manhole cover instead of the cap and are a pain simply due to putting
the manhole cover back. Some are easy and some will test your soul.
Ask @Leopards , he's rebuilt some.

To the person that asked about the stock coils:

The 1.5 ohm coils are wonderful. For at least a year before Cheech and others discovered the joy of rebuilding these, we would all discuss how wonderful they are. The GS series of tanks and the 1.5 ohm coils are great.

As to what to wrap your wire around:

If you happen to have a 14 gauge blunt tip luer lock needle the outer diameter (OD) is 2.1mm.

Also, the "little blue screwdriver" has an OD of about 2mm. I prefer this one from Mitten Vapors:

Finally had a 1.5 coil bite the dust. Did a rebuild and came up with 1.29 ohms. Close enough for me. Didn't have a lot of trouble getting the outer cap off this time after finally using the base of a 16.5mm Air tank to hold the coil in place while removing it. I had been using the base of a 19mm Air, but the coil gets deep into that base and it seems to capture it and prevent removal of the cap. If you loosen the coil, it often just comes right out of the base and you have to start over.

Honestly, the whole process is a bit torturous for me because of my unsteady hands. Many steps had to be repeated along the way to get them done properly. But, bottom line, I did get it done and am vaping with it. Oddly enough, the step that gave me the most trouble this time was getting the cap back on straight. Kept getting it a bit crooked but finally got it right enough that it works.

I had done one other a few weeks ago, and it took this long for a coil to wear out so I could do it again. Hard to get practice when the 1.5 coils last so long. :thumb:

I'ma gonna try a litre of 12mg of this based on your experience. Price is right. Also been looking at these here gs tanks of late. I read enuf here lately and am I correct in assuming that the Factory coils are not good? Or just not preferred? Ty
I think most here would agree that the .75ohm and 1.5ohm factory coils are actually very good. The 1.2ohm seem to be not quite as good for most folks.

But, when the bright folks here figured out how to rebuild the coils (especially the 1.5) it just makes sense to do it. Saves quite a bit of money in the long run, but, perhaps most importantly, safeguards against the future when the coils could become a lot more expensive or difficult to get.
