THANK YOU for the very impartial and scientific coil comparison, Kivrin! Quite inspiring!
I will re-watch Cheech's academy award winning short, background music provided by IMRs, and commence rebuilding ... soon.
I love this place -- and all of you. Everyone is just so helpful and encouraging.:wub:
Here, here! I agree completely!

Rats! I forgot to ask @Kivrin in what manner she primed her coils prior to the test?

During my build, I put two drops of unflavored directly on the wick and used a couple of drops on the liner to make it easier to wrap. I filled the tank, let it sit for...oh, maybe ten minutes? Looked for leaks. Took some unpowered draws with the air-control closed, despite the useless of this step with the M. Started taking two puffs at 6 w and two puffs each up in .5 increments until I was at 11 on the iStick 20. I was going to push how high I could go, when I got distracted by Nanny's question.:D

The stock coil got a drop of the flavored e-liquid down the chimney and one on each airhole, sit, repeat the puff procedure.

And the stock coil is still improving. That's the one I'm vaping on right now. I should probably have waited until about now to do the test. The rebuild is still on the vv3 and I don't want to play the tank shuffle, but I still give the rebuild a lead. But that could be from the rayon. Glad I did this. Why did I wait so long? It wasn't hard at all.

Thank you! i put a couple of drops down the coil chimney, put it back together and vape...never waited.
As far as recoiling, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself! :)

Okay, all this Push me- Pull you stuff, at least you got me to look at what I have in the rebuilding department (that died so quickly for me, early on in my vape career).

I have almost everything I need to do this, but I was wondering if 32 gauge Kanthal would be too thin? I have plenty of Rayon, tools (except that handy 16 gauge needle) and the non woven gauze.. Oh, and the T3 (I always bought the MT & MT3's). Oh well, it's a start. Like I said, I looked at it. For me, that's a start. I go at my own pace and sometimes that could be months or years.:laugh:

The 32G KA1 should be fine for 1.6Ω and above.

Just realize that the vv3s will only power the GS Air to 11W, which is barely touching it's potential...
HaHa! I sold my iStick 20 because it wouldn't step down enough for the GS to reach it's potential!
Works great on an eGo One. Just give me my 3.7 volts and I'm a happy man. Don't give me an computer chip and LED screen that says 3.7v when the meter (and more importantly, my throat) say 4.3v!

One day, you too will throw your hat over the fence...
Just take one of your old, dead coils when you are not doing anything and try and break it down.
That's taking your hat off your head! :)

It should be soon. Once I gather everything I need, I'll start rebuilding again and it'll turn into another obsession. I'll probably have sleepless nights the first week because I won't think that I made my quota for the day.

Good for you, Kivrin! I think the hardest part about rebuilding a coil is just convincing yourself that you can do it and then getting started. :D

Well, the second one was harder. I think I had a little beginner's luck/nothing to lose going on.:D

I can't find a cheap 16 gauge filler tube. Amazon wants around 12 dollars for one. I found a vape shop with them for a couple of dollars, but they're sold out. :(

pssst...I just found mine as I was finishing up.

I may have used a toothpick? lol

I use a 16 gauge piercing needle. I need to file down the pointy end though. I keep sticking myself. Lol
My next door neighbor used it to pierce my son's belly button. She was going to throw it away so I brought it home and cleaned it with alcohol....good as new and sterilized!:lol::shock:
