Regarding boards and electronics, what will cause failure and "wear them out" is heat. If the chips run hot, they will age and fail faster (assuming they're a quality board and chipset to begin with). Mechanical failures always outstrip electronics failures. devices with repairable/replaceable parts will last essentially indefinitely. I cannot vouch for the temp control/airflow/cooling on all the higher end boards, but I expect they are better thought out than say a $30 Pico.

Both are good to stockpile. It's always worth having a broad base for long term use. But easily serviced mods are, IMO, preferable if you're thinking long haul. So is simplicity, and mech mods serve a role as well on the opposite end of the spectrum.

The retail price of these various mods is not directly related to "quality". All manufacturing is simple, buy raw materials, add value, sell for a profit. Then, the more of something you can make the closer you can bring the cost to the bare cost of raw materials. My perception of the Pico is it has plenty of quality. It's so cheap because the manufacturer gambled on a rip roaring success and geared up for a big production run and bet right. Other mods might be made by smaller producers anticipating smaller production runs. They buy fewer componants, invest in fewer labor saving fixtures, have a slower production process involving more labor time, add luxury features, etc. There are a lot of things that increase the price that aren't directly related to quality. A reason not to skimp on quality in the old fashioned sense is safety of the user. We demand batteries that are tempermental. That keeps the manufacturers awake at night.

While it's true PRICE does not equal QUALITY, when our Pico's fail, most likely they end up in the garbage. If a DNA board fails, they have been known to repair them at no cost, even after warranty. Same with Vaporshark. More things to factor then just initial cost, with any product.

I tend to think of my cheap mods as DISPOSABLE, sad but I've bought enough cheap electronic products over my years to know the truth, on long term service. Everyone has to make their own decisions on cost versus value and ultimately their budget. I'm only looking at 5 years out, lots of things will be totally different by then, hopefully better for us vapors, and all of these devices and Mods, will be valueless antiques. I have to keep reminding myself of this when I read about the next great mod. As of today, if you are okay with single 18650 battery devices, there is no better board on the market then a DNA75.

Good points, and I always forget to recommend MECH MODS to folks. I only have two, but that's real future proofing!

I want one. I don't want 10 unless somebody buys them for me.

I'll open a KickStarter to get you five! :)

I have ONE VS DNA200, and since they are far cheaper, THREE SMY DNA75's. That's going to have to do it for higher end mods for me. If I knew nothing about the subject, I'd be happy with the Vaperesso Target Mini's. $30, 40 watts, built in 1400mAh battery, but SUPER TINY. But alas, I know when these batteries die out, they'll end up in the junk pile.

Eleaf announced a new 80w 5000 mAh built-in mod, the iPower.....

iPower | Best E Cig Battery from Eleafworld

The advantages of JoyeTech having subsidiaries.
They can shift tech, share developments and offer similar alternatives under the other brand names (JTech, Wismec, Eleaf/iSmoka). This is an obvious cousin to the resurrected eVic VT (VTwo).

There's a reason I called my Wismec Reuleaux RX an "i200" from the start. :p

A little more than 12 hrs. left before it ends.
BLOWOUT: ELEAF ISTICK PICO TC 75W MOD (GREY) - $20.56 + FS

This is still live guys. Pretty good deal. A friend of mine has the istick 30w without a spare. I think I could sell him a spare Pico or VTC Mini if necessary. Might have to pull the trigger here.

Okay I'm gonna resist. The VTC Mini has been sitting in an unopened box for like a month now. I only need one spare, and two years is a long time. These should still be around for a decent price. Plus maybe our government regulators can pull through and save vaping.

Plus I dunno if grey is the color I want. I think I might want to pay $2 more and get the all black or all grey.

I've been vaping only Evolv powered mods for the last 2 yrs starting with DNA40's. I have 2 DNA75, 5 DNA200 and 4 DNA40's in daily rotation. They are a much better vape than what was out there back then but I've been on a micro mod kick and ordered a Mini Volt. It's nice but no TP so I ordered a Target Mini. I should get the Target Mini this week but I also ordered 2 Picos from the FT sale. All black and brushed SS for $44 shipped.

The main reason I ordered the Target Mini and Picos is because I have a KM3 on the Mini Volt and had the juice control closed. I forgot to open it and after a few puffs, got a nasty dry hit. I haven't had one of those in years.

The all black pico won't ship until next week but I'm not in a rush but it is annoying that FT keeps doing that.

I'm vaping on the Target Mini right now. I agree with PBUSARDO's review, best of the Mini Mods.

BUT: take a look at yours when you get it. I have two from same vendor, the both read a SS .50 ohm coil at .44 ohms. The ohms are not drifting at all, but I'm getting these lower ohm ratings on all my tanks. All my other mods, DNA's ect. confirm the true reading. I don't expect perfect ohm reading on cheap mods, but this is the highest discrepancys I've seen. Let me know what you find. I'm going to write the vendor tomorrow. These things are so COOL!

His review was the reason I ordered the TM. As long as the resistance doesn't drift, it should be fine.

Yeah I guess it would be fine as I mostly do TC. I would hate to have to return them for a swap, and end up with the same issue. I left that question on Phils YouTube review page, doubt I get a response. Let me know what you see when you get yours. Thanks!

Well I have to say I finally got my hot pink pico in the mail this morning... So glad I did order two new flat top batteries. The button top I have in there now (while the two new bats charge) I don't like the way the battery cover sits hard to screw on too. But I have to say I love this little mod. Fits perfectly in my little hands. I am using the full sized bachular tank on it and that fits nice to no over hangs. and doesn't touch the battery cover. I will definitely get another for another back up mod...
