Well...guys/girls...THANX for all the "try-TC" suggestions...

I left it at 9.5Watts => FB X3 => TemperatureSS => (using SS coil)...
450º => throat sensation similar to having a red hot poker shoved down it...:evil:
200º => throat sensation similar to having lit end of a cigarette shoved down it...

I guess I'm not a "TC-person"...

While the manual says it can do TC up to 1.5Ω, on mine any time the coil is close to or over 1Ω it usually kicks it out of TC mode and into the default 20W power mode. Also the watt setting in power mode is not the same watt setting in TC mode.

When you select TC check the wattage it displays, make sure it's what you want. Adjust by clicking 4 times if necessary. If you get a harsh hit at a low temp setting, check the display to make sure it is still in TC mode and it didn't kick you out and set itself to 20W.

ETA: I use a low temp setting when I break in a new coil/wick. Anything in the low 200's gives me virtually no taste/vapor. Good luck.

@halfempty what tank and coils are you using in TC on the Pico?
My all day work setup is a Subtank Mini on the Pico. I use the old RBA with about a 2.7mm spaced 6-7 wrap 27ga. SS316 coil. The SS temp settings on the Pico are not really accurate with the wire I use, but good enough for me. Compared to a DNA200 board it usually fires about 20-40º higher than it displays. I could play with TCR, but I don't really care. If the vape is too cool I turn up the temp a little, if it's too warm I turn it down. ;)

OK, so you aren't using the Melo III Mini that comes in the Pico kit. I just ordered Kanthal coils for it and was going to say Doh if I could have gotten TC coils for it.
When I first got the Pico I did use the Melo III and a Supertank Mini for a bit. IIRC I used the Triton 0.4Ω coils in them which are SS and TC capable. It's been a while and I don't really remember the vape quality, but it wasn't bad or I would remember. I stopped using them only because they sucked up juice and had a small capacity. I'm lazy, didn't like refilling that often. :D

I just gave away the Melo lll that came with my kit. Never even looked at the manual but can't imagine there wouldn't be TC coils available for it? I think there's even an available RBA Head isn't there?

I see folks talking about issues of it kicking out of TC mode have you tried any of the firmware updates to correct it?
Not really, I only had the problem in the beginning when I was experimenting. The setup I've settled on is low enough, about 0.5Ω that it doesn't happen. Sticking with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Been a while, but IIRC the Triton RBA, the Anyvape Sega RBA, and the eGo ONE CLR Eleaf ECR coils all worked on the M-III.

That is why I ordered the same coils as the one I have installed and I have tried TC with Ni/Ti coils but was not a happy camper and for me TC has to be SS316L. At least right now it is which could change. And I looked there is an RBA for the Melo @Foggy Road but I actually am not interested in it. With my cost at $2 a coil lasting weeks to months not worth my time. I have a Griffin 25 Plus for next time I want to tinker but right now I would rather be vaping.

Agreed. I tried a couple of the RBA options for Atlantis compatible coils and they all had one thing in common. They are all a huge PITA to work with.

I stick to premade coils for my Atlantis type tanks, and keep some on hand for the Subtank JIC. I rebuild the Subtank and the real RTA's.

I have made coils and done the dripping thing but it just isn't for me I guess. I find better flavor out a coil submerged in e-Liquid. The Griffin is an intriguing design and will be my coils and wick job so when I decide to I will take it out of the box and build some SS316L coils for it.

they sure do make TEMP CONTROL coils for the Melo III :) (but doubt the CLR and EC coil will swap)
You are right, my bad. It was the ECR I was thinking about, NOT the clr. I've had too many tanks for short periods of time, apparently more tanks than brain cells.

What are they sold separately? I would not use the Ti or Ni (personal preference) but that price is 20% higher than what I saw before for 5 packs not singles.

not sure about prices as I use the rebuildable ones when I vape one of those tanks

would have to shop around :)

and yes SS is the ONLY way to go for me...
