I have to pay smoker rates on my insurance premiums anyway so I said the heck with it

Thank you for bringing this up!! I meant to ask the forum about this. Does anyone claim that they are "tobacco" free on their insurance? Techincally we aren't using tobacco...

We we're told they test for nicotine so I had to claim I was a smoker. what a joke but if your caught lying say I had a lung disease and was tested for nicotine my claim would be denied.

Nicotine Drug Tests
Nicotine use may not only be proven based on one’s symptoms, a number of diagnostics are now available to detect nicotine in the body.

When one smokes, nicotine inhaled is then metabolized into cotinine in organs such as the lungs and the liver, and subsequently excreted in the urine. Aside from nicotine, cotinine is a reliable biomarker and indicator for nicotine use, detectable in the blood, urine, and saliva.

How Long Does Nicotine Stay in your System
The length of time that nicotine stays in the body and cotinine can be a reliable indicator of nicotine use depends on the amount of tobacco smoked, the number of years smoking tobacco, and the type of nicotine test performed. It can be as short as 2 days, or as long as 3 months.

Nicotine Blood Test
Both qualitative and quantitative blood tests can be used to detect nicotine use. Either blood nicotine levels or its presence or absence can be determined. Nicotine, along with its derivatives cotinine and anabasine, can be used for these blood tests. These tests can detect even the slightest traces of nicotine in the bloodstream.

How Long Does Nicotine Stay in your Blood

Nicotine is metabolized into cotinine, which then admixes with blood. Liver detoxification then takes place, facilitating removal of toxins from the blood. This process is slow in comparison to the removal of waste products by the kidney in form of urine, which takes place at a faster rate.

In these blood tests, nicotine is visible usually 1 to 3 days after last use of a nicotine-containing product, such as cigarettes, smokeless tobacco (snuff), and nicotine patches or gum. This may also vary in lieu of the amount of nicotine use, and the individual’s health and age.

On the other hand, when cotinine levels are used for determination, it may take 1 to 10 days until the levels will be undetectable in the blood.

However, a number of reasons can lead to false positive results of nicotine in the blood. These include working at metal refining areas where high levels of thiocyanate present, consumption of thiocyanate containing foods like cabbage, broccoli, almonds and mustards, and intake of medications such as amphetamines. Laboratory errors should also be considered.

Nicotine Urine Test
The standard test for determining nicotine use is thru a urine sample. The test is the most commonly used one, since it is readily available, and is sold over the counter. It detects cotinine, the nicotinine metabolite also used in blood tests.

In this test, a urine sample is collected, in which a strip is dipped for 5 minutes. The result is then read as either positive or negative. The accepted standard cutoff level of 200ng/ml of nicotine is the test’s basis.

How Long Does Nicotine Stay in your Urine
When inhaled, nicotine is converted into cotinine, which together with the body’s wastes products is excreted in the urine. In detecting nicotine and its metabolites in the body, levels remain detectable in the urine only for 3 to 4 days.

However, this may be different for some cases. For passive smokers, urine nicotine test can be positive for as long as 15 to 20 days. Cotinine may also take longer to be excreted with wastes if menthol cigarettes are used.

Nicotine Saliva Test
This is said to be the most accurate nicotine test and is most preferred. It does not only eliminate the need to handle urine specimens, but it can also provide an approximate amount of tobacco used by the person. It can detect levels 0 to 2,000ng/ml of nicotine, a range lower than that can be determined by the urine test.

In this test, a person must provide a saliva sample, in which a strip is soaked for 20 minutes. The saliva then reacts with cotinine, indicating different levels of cotinine and suggesting the amount of nicotine exposure.

How Long Does Nicotine Stay in your Saliva
Cotinine, the nicotine metabolite used in the saliva test, has a longer half life than nicotine itself. It can be detected in the saliva more than 10 hours, even as long as 2 to 4 days.

How to Effectively Clear Nicotine From the Body
Nicotine is a stimulant and is highly addictive. But even in the presence of withdrawal symptoms, quitting can be feasible. The following are means with which nicotine can be cleared off from the body, and in the process, avoid nicotine withdrawal syndrome effectively:
Plenty of water must be consumed. The more water consumed, the more nicotine released from the body thru the urine.
Eat fruits and vegetables. They are antioxidants, with high fiber and water content. They can help metabolize the nicotine out of the system.
Exercise. It improves circulation and enables the body to release toxins thru sweat, making nicotine removal faster.
Eat foods such as garlic, onions and egg yolks. These increase bile production in the liver, helpful in toxin and nicotine removal.

I work for a healthcare company, and a very large on at that, and it is a simple "do you smoke or use more than X amounts of tobacco products" in a week yes or no. So i said no. Technically I'm not lying, but not exactly being truthful. Luckily there are no tests or anything, but if it comes down to it, I smoke a cigarette on the weekends on occasion. :?:

To be honest I didn't think about it too hard when I was filling out my benefits for 2015, but the $$$ we get as a credit towards or insurance, which means a little more money on each paycheck, sure was in the back of my mind. Oh well. I'm young and dumb and full of....well, you know.

I ordered my Istick early on after reading all the positive posts in this thread and loved it from day one until I started having the dreaded connection problem. Think I pushed center pin down while cleaning with Q-tip. The Istick would still fire my 510 Smok dripper but not the mini protank or the mini aerotank. I researched trying to figure it out and saw a post about this adapter www.sweet-vapes.com I apologize about not having a pic to show you but being technically challenged will just tell you that it fixed my problem and is a much better engineered adapter than the one that came with the Istick. The center pin is copper and not stainless. It is also adjustable. You can unscrew the adapter pin to make it longer. The smooth end and the slotted end are even reversed. I think Joyetech realized the problem and manufactured the upgraded replacement. I would be interested in hearing which adapter is being shipped with the Istick now? I would suggest you order just the device and order this adapter. Be sure to read the review. I also saw the adapter on the Ismoka site. Hope this helps someone. I have truly learned so much from this forum. thanks to all of you who take the time to post

That fix is a way to save your Istick but I don't like the added height. Eleaf should have fixed the pin problem before launching the product.......

Smoking doesn't really have anything to do with it (although, obviously there's nicotine involved), and can actually have the opposite effect.

The relationship between nicotine and Alzheimers is based on a very small study done in 2012 of 80 people. They used nicotine patches and some of the people showed a slowing of onset Alzheimers when using the patches. Most agree that the small sample size of the study is not proof of the relationship either way.

and then there's this
Nicotine for Alzheimer's disease. - PubMed - NCBI

Reviewer's Conclusion: This review is not able to provide reliable evidence that nicotine is a useful treatment for Alzheimer's disease.

yeah, those adapters are hit and miss, Ive owned about 5 and they were all bought various vendors, the one at provape is best so far

Absolutely for that style of adapter, the Provape ones take the prize.

I am still enjoying using the AFCs which add less height, and give that flush look.

Okay, I saw the caulking in one of the pictures. Had to go 10 pages back to find it though. I didn't notice anything when i replaced the O-Ring on mine.

After experimenting with different tanks last night, I'm actually kinda happy that the Danco O-Ring is so thick. Some of the tanks I had to screw all the way down to make contact. Any less thickness and I might have gotten a no atomizer warning.

All you guys that are ordering 2 and 3 iSticks, I'm wondering why you need so many. Unless you have a filling station at work, have one for just the car, and have one just for home. Carrying 2 of them would be a bit much, even for me, who carries an istick, ego twist, and 2 extra mini protanks.

I'm a "5 in the purse at all times" vaper. Why so my 'Sticks? I dunno..... I couldn't decide which color I would like best. ;)

I think so many because..... why not. They are nearly in the category of a disposable (at this point) and they are just perfect for the grab 'n go vaper. They also make great loaners to those who don't yet have one.

I prolly didn't answer your question well, but for me, having many devices has just always been the name of the game. My back ups have many back ups, and they all like variety. Spice of life and all that jazz. ;)

Also, just a note to those who are keeping track of how long the Aspire BVCs are lasting...

I don't judge by days/weeks. I don't even see a way of doing that as I vape on many different devices all the time.

So what I've done is to keep accurate records of fills, and for the most part, the Naughty and Naughty Minis with BVCs are lasting about 20 to 25ml for me.
