Being left behind

I feel like the mod builders don't care about anything except pumping up the power !! I still use protank 2 and don't wish to change that. The coils are so easy to rebuild and very cheep to do. I'm happy with 20 W and only vape at low. In stead of fixing the problems with the Istick , eleaf pumps out higher wattage. I don't want big clouds of smoke. That attitude will get ecigs banned in public. Is that what we want ? If eleaf does read this than why come out with the same junk pins on the new mini ? I have a Cloupor Mini on order hoping it will be better than the Istick. It is 30 W which I would love to have only 20 W but it is what it is ? What's next ? A plug so you vape with 120 house currant ??

It looks to me like Eleaf addressed all of the issues people were having with the iStick. I personally agree about the extra watts but I'll still buy at least the 30w since it looks like it will be a good price. They should of fixed the threads and added the spring loaded 510 to the mini for sure though

The new 30 warr istick coming out DID fix the pin, its spring loaded. They also made the top part of one side more rounded which many people complained about in the 1st version...AND they bumped it up to 30watts. While still offering it at a reasonable price. If you asked me, it looks like they did listen to what customers wanted and tried to be rectify the problems as best as they could.

But, did they change the output from r.m.s. to MEAN? (or whatever) so it doesn't fire hotter than it should.

On Origin Vape's site it says "Wattage range 5W – 50W – accurate voltage and metering". That seems to imply RMS

So to keep up with their competition by releasing a 30 watt and 50 watt model the engineers focused on a better 510 connector (a good thing) and being sure it didn't fire hotter, more power, more heat? .

Having the new versions fire on the low end at the same power as an eGo would seem not to be their major concern, or the market the new versions are aimed at.

The new 30watt and 50watt are now listed on Eleafs website along with the new MELO tank.....

New sub ohm MELO looks interesting
MELO Atomizer

The MELO looks a lot like a LEMO tank with a pre-built coil and wicking, well researched concept, sub-ohm performance without having to build coils..

You can already get the Kanger SUB or the Aspire Atlantis BUT the Kanger is LARGE (25mm) and the Atlantis is only 2ml (larger tanks are coming soon). The new MELO is 22mm AND 3.5ml. Seems like a good balance. Hopefully the coils wont be $4 each like the Atlantis. They look similar to an Atlantis coil.

I think im going to hold out for a Eleaf 50watt. :D Even if voltage regulation is a bit off, 4.2v and .5ohm is in the 35watt range. That well withing the specs of the Eleaf 50watt. My IPV Mini is maxed running a .5ohm coil. It would be nice to have some wiggle room.

I'm looking at these new announcements not as an opportunity for a 30W or 50W, but as a way to get a really inexpensive 20W device.
I'm hoping this drives the 20W down even further.

Can someone explain the quote above? Is this a serious problem in the 20W?

It depends on the ohms of the coil in your preferred device and your preferred watts. If you like to vape at 8watts on a 1.6ohm coil, it aint gunna happen on a 20watt with a full battery. 4.2v and a 1.6 is about 11watts. The 20watt wont down regulate AND it fires a bit hot. A 8watt setting it NOT really 8watts.

The new 30 and 50watt claim to have better voltage regulation and a spring loaded 510 with SS threads. Forget the watts, go for the design improvements.

It is large, but not unmanageably so.

Nothing that cannot be worked around.

It Isn't a Serious Problem to Me.

As long as I can dial an APV Down a Couple of "Numbers" so the Hit I get doesn't taste Burnt, what do I care what "Number" is on the Display?

I'm getting the Cloupour also next friday payday SS.
There's no way it can be shoddier then the istick .
My istick had pin connect problems....then firing button was stuck (had to send in for repairs).
Then usb port connection got jammmed up into the housing....(threw in garbage).
All within 4 month period.

I did get another one, only because the cloupour isnt yet available.
But i'll have that next week.

Yes, who needs 50W with huge lung hits. No flavor that way, just people staring wide eyed at someone sucking on a fat tank
and exhaling thunderous cumulus nimbus size clouds.
But to each his own

I really wish this "won't down regulate" thing would die. Because it's not correct. Voltage on the iStick 20W is always boosted to around 5.5V, then down regulated using PWM. The PWM calculations are done to arrive at a simple MEAN voltage, that's why the iStick seems hotter that every other device on the market, every other manufacturer uses RMS calculations, so their voltage output actually feels the same as a given straight DC voltage. The resulting discrepancy is greater at the low end of the scale, so the iStick vapes hotter at the low end that what you'd expect from the voltage readout on the device.

As long as one uses a topper that can keep up with the actual output, it doesn't matter, just adjust to taste instead of to a number. Some people using single-coil clearos are likely to be affected, since the iStick won't go low enough for them to enjoy. Most dual-coils and rebuildables will be just fine.

As for RMS mode, we will contact factory and give you the answer. We are sorry.

VapeOnly vPulse Dual-output VV/VW Battery - 1600mAh has regular DC (direct current) output mode and new Pulse output mode (RMS mode).

Thank you!
Greetings,

So, It's still up in the air unless someone else recently got any info on it. :pop:

I would probably run a 2.4ohm coil at about 4.25v. What do you think?
