When I went to the link you provided it just says Care2, either sign or login in. It only shows the one page and there is no scroll down. Seems like everybody else can get to this but I can't. Is there another link I can use.

basically when you sign the petition you're also signing up to the site so just go to the site and sign up then once signed in come back and click the link and maybe that will work. Not sure but it's worth a try.

I believe I have made all the corrections noted on this thread however if I still have corrections to make please let me know. (Always been better with wording than grammar/punctuation but I try) As far as promoting goes I suggest adding the text that you will see at the bottom of this post as your signature. To do this click your name in the upper right hand corner of your screen (on the forum that is). On the left click "edit signature" and add the text. Now every post you make will include that at the bottom. Also have everyone in your household over 18 (or friends coming around this weekend) sign. Click "log out" on the petition between users in order to enable someone else to sign from the same computer. If having difficulties let me know and I'll get it figured out. Feel free to send me private messages. Also send me private messages with contact info for any political official or organization you would like to see this sent too when the time comes. I will be keeping a list. Include everyone from your town mayor to god (if you have his address that is)!

Also if you have non-smokers willing to sign make sure that they comment about their experience being around you now. Have them note that they DO NOT SMOKE BUT.... I want to make sure that potential recipients of this petition don't just look at it at and say "what a bunch of addicts!"!

If Jan 31, 2010 is coming up and there is no imminent legislation pending I will extend the closure date so as to obtain as many signatures and comments as possible. Keeping me abreast of anything you hear regarding potential legislation will be appreciated. (PM me with info and source)

Please carry the petition web address in your wallet/purse and give to anyone interested and asking you about your personal vaporizer. The comments should be invaluable no matter what their reason for interest. Also please include the address in any letters you may be sending out on your own.

LET'S WIN ONE FOR A CHANGE!
Thank you all.

This link e.thePeople : Letter Writing could come in handy for you when you're ready to send this out.

Anyone looking for addresses and such for public figures they wish it sent to should check it out also.

Sorry, but I can't sign this. This is a perfect example of how we as a population need to do our homework, learn the facts of vaping and construct arguments in support of e-cigs only after we learn the real issues at hand with the FDA (oh, did anyone bother to figure out that they're not out to ban e-cigs at all? Read the real stuff, not the activist propaganda you mostly see here) and also begin to acknowledge that e-cigs do pose their own health hazards that, although less than those of smoking on the lung front, will be our downfall if we keep using terms like "miracle device" rather than acknowledging a more realistic interpretation of the benfits and risks of vaping.

The fact is that every petition like this that is circulated solidifies their argument that these need to be regulated and every signature to a document like this solidifies their position that none of us understand the risks that are inherent in any nicotine ingestion. Frankly, the more efforts like this that I read and the more I see people talk on here, I don't think the other side is too far off when describing our collective lack of understanding when it comes to our own cause (oh, and the fact that we're circulating an online petition to start with makes us particularly dismissible from the get-go). And...that is what guarantees them a victory.

There are a lot of people who are guiding this movement who have a lot to learn and a hell of a lot of personal prejudice to get over if we want to get anywhere with this. As of right now, we're doing the FDA's work for them.

I can't get past the sign in page.

I vaguely remember having an account from the last petition but i can't remember the login, and every name i tried didn't work. When i click "forget login name or password?" i get redirected back to the login page. When i click "sign up" i get redirected back to the login page. Nothing on scroll down.

Login fail.

At first reading, I questioned where you were coming from with this post. So, I went away and did some other things, then came back and reread. I've seen a number of your posts here and there so I know you're a pretty smart fellow.

There are still points in here that I have to get clarification on.

In the above paragraph, you ask if anyone has figured out that they're not out to ban e-cigs at all. I personally can not draw that same conclusion, at least not based on their presentation of the results of the study that they had done. If you look at the date the study was completed and the months that transpired until they had their news conference, you have to question their motives. I wanted to put the report date in this post, however, mysteriously, the report is no longer available on the web. As I recall the report came out in early Feb., but I could be wrong. The FDA had their presentation on July 22. Why so long?

If you are trying to be fair about your presentation and "news" release (Of course anything that refutes their claims is considered a press release), you don't have an opening statement that says-

"[/I]The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze."

I'm not going to hash and rehash why quite a few people on this forum are so active in fighting against what they said and the ongoing NEWS reports that constantly come out stating what was told to them by the FDA.

What the FDA did not say about E-cigs as compared to Cigarettes is the point.

Could you explain why you feel the FDA is just trying to help us?

The fact is that every petition like this that is circulated solidifies their argument that these need to be regulated and every signature to a document like this solidifies their position that none of us understand the risks that are inherent in any nicotine ingestion. Frankly, the more efforts like this that I read and the more I see people talk on here, I don't think the other side is too far off when describing our collective lack of understanding when it comes to our own cause (oh, and the fact that we're circulating an online petition to start with makes us particularly dismissible from the get-go). The point I'd like you to expound on here is how you feel this cause should be approached. I recall you posting somewhere about vaping 20 something MG nic after smoking unfiltered cigarettes for quite a few years. You wanted a more satisfying feeling than you were/are getting. I've battled the same issues. If you've studied what the FDA has said, both in documentation and in their presentation, you know that they will not go for anywhere near the nicotine levels you are currently looking for.

IF the FDA gets their way, there will be either of two scenarios. 1st, they will be taken off the market until the manufacturers come back with the evidence they require to approve the product. Do you see nicotrol inhalers on the OTC shelves today? How long have they been around? How long did it take to get them approved? 2nd, they will agree to allow someone to produce them while the approval process is ongoing, but serious restrictions on nic strength.

I personally don't see them offering the 2nd alternative. I could be wrong.

What is your approach?

Look, you're a young guy, relatively speaking. Heck to be around the age life "begins" again would be pretty interesting. However, I'm not sure I'd want to live it again in this social climate. I figure you started understanding the world in the mid 80's. Before that you were a kid.

I started seeing the world in the harshness of the sixties. A lot of good has come about since then, a lot of injustices have been eradicated. However, without those 20 years of experience, you have no idea the freedoms that have been lost. As quickly as technology is advancing (and I am amazed that I carry around a computer on my belt that is infinitely more powerful than the computers I programmed in the early 80's), the loss of personal freedom is advancing quicker.
