Trying to go half and half with my VG came out with too thick a solution. I don't know if everyone else's VG is as thick or not, though.

Sunshyn--All VG is thick and needs be be thinned using distilled water or vodka, etc.--then mixed with flavoring and/or commercial e-liquid--Hope that helps--Sun

Thanks, Sun...if I'm looking to make a mix with only VG, flavoring, and distilled water and/or alcohol, what proportions would you suggest?

If I were you Luna I'd find a flavour that I was sure I liked first so you know what you're starting off with. Then dilute the flavour with glycerine and thin as needed with water/alcohol. Make a very small amount to try and keep changing the dilution until you are happy with the flavour.

Some LorAnn flavours are very strong and some very weak so the amounts needed vary greatly. You might even find yourself vaping neat flavouring if you find a particularly weak one. I found that coconut didn't give much flavour although it had a strong smell and key lime was really overpowering.

So start off with flavour as the main concern and mix according to the one you're using.

Let us know how it goes :D

If you are using Lorann or Bickford Flavoring:

.5 ml Distilled water or High Proof Vodka
.5-1.5 Flavor (depending on which Flavor)
4 ml VG

Happy Vaping and mixing---Sun

I have not been able to find what the mixture is in ePuffer liquid but it produces much more vapor than the Janty VG. Very dissaopinting. I do not like to deal with ePuffer but their juice produces great vapor in my Janty Kiss. The janty VG is thinner than the epuffer, si think they decided to thin it too much in my opinion.

Would love to see the DIY liquid breakdown from you Kate if you can give me the link to that thread.

Thanks

Found this study on the people who got sick from the Popcorn Flavoring Chemicals. Seems like Flavors that are made from Chemicals are not good to inhale. (see study link below). Seems like the Popcorn taste is made from a chemical called diacetyl which caused lung problems for the factory workers. I just e-mailed Johnson Creek to ask if any of their flavorings have diacetyl. Seems like Smoke Juice should only have flavors that are natural. I guess if you want CheeseCake or Peach's, they are made from chemicals which burn in the Atomizer and go into your lungs, which is what happened to the factory workers using popcorn flavoring.

This site won't allow me to post link, so search for: NIin Workers Who Use or Make Flovorings - Publication No. 2004 - 110

Thanks for the warning Rock. You are absolutely correct, diacetyl has been found to cause lung disease when inhaled even though it's regarded safe to eat.

Please let us know what Johnson Creek say.

There are a couple of things in the NIOSH document that warrant interest and some general comments I'd like to make:

All popular forms of aldehydes cause respitory distress (form-, ethyl, acetyl-, etc.) and all should be avoided and great care should be used in ensuring you're wearing proper equipement when around high concentrations of stuff like that.

These people literally lived around this stuff 8 hours+ a day - at the bottom of the report was the conclusions that the firm had to do to remedy the situation. I'd bet money that correct respirators 'Engineering controls', proper closing of chemicals containers and mix vats 'Education' were two of the top problems. There was one mention of someone who had a diminished capacity within 30 seconds of adding Acetylaldehyde to a mix - well no kidding - if you're huffing a full bucket of it without proper respiration equipment it'd be like me taking a hit off of a bottle of embalming fluid. Not fun.

As always, vape at your own risk - trace amounts of acteylaldehyde may not cause permanent damage with recreational use - but if someone were to hit the stuff hard you're asking for trouble. I've had an experience with "embalmer's pneumonia" which is a result to a high exposure to formalin/formaldehyde so I can speak from experience that you'll know real quick what you shouldn't be doing.

Without access to a gas spectrometer and a chemist there won't be a definitive answer. Cynical as I am I'd probably say the response will be along the lines of "This product is only intended for the following uses and vaping isn't on that list" but I'd welcome to see a productive response from the supplier.

If I may interject for Barb.

You really...REALLY don't think you're addicted to nicotine?

I'll say this; The placebo effect is a powerful one. You can trick the mind...for a time.

Wait until your nerve endings start going nuts, though. The changes you experience when your dopamine receptors start starving will, most certainly, change your mind.

Unless, that is, you're smarter than thousands of doctors, world-wide.

LMAO... Doctors? Yeah ok, and THEY ALWAYS tell the truth, right?

I am an EX RN turned Med Student, so I KNOW they don't. I quit the medical "business" because I got SICK of the patients being told they needed things I knew damn well from their charts they didn't, and having docs tell ME to shut up about it or find another job. I finally took their advice, damn happy I did too.

For YOUR information... I have not suffered ANY withdrawal symptoms, and its been a solid week. Oh except for the one time this week when my batteries died and I had nothing but analogs, I had a few, like 7 over 4 hours, and they made me SICK enough (nausea, dizziness, disorientation) to NEVER want to touch them again. Even after THAT, I am not craving nicotine, and I vape Nic Free my own mixes of just VG and Flavoring. No headaches, no shakes, no irritability beyond my NORMAL amount as a belligerant human being LOL :)

Let us know how that turns out.

I know that, even with smoking 24 - 36 mg stuff, uncut, for the first week or so, I was still having mild cravings. After about day 7 they got REALLY bad for a few days but I just manned it out.

I'm hearing that the increased cravings may be due to the OTHER crap in cigarettes.

Man, I'm glad I'm off those things.

I'm tellin ya hon, the cravings are not about nicotine, but check out that article that Kate steered me towards, about MAOIs and smoking, you might see my point from a doctors opinion since mine seems to not really hold weight :)

Give it a test... Get an ecig that is as CLOSE in FEEL, TASTE, and Vapor to the "real thing"... But leave out the nicotine. See what happens. I found as long as it was literally SIMULATING the experience, I was ok... It was only when the vape wasnt what I was "used to" in a cig that I started thinking of lighting one. The right size and WEIGHT mini is a huge help I'll tell ya that too. The pee wee pass thru battery is slightly thinner and a LOT lighter than the Njoy Pro batteries, it also FEELS softer, more like an analog in your hand. I noticed this immediately. Since using it last night, I had NO thoughts of the 2 cartons that have been here untouched since I got my njoy 10 days ago.

The day my batteries died, I cried like a little girl as I lit up. I didn't want to, I KNEW it was so bad for me, and I felt like a failure. Trust me, it wasn't a nic withdrawal, it was the realization that I was about to fall off the wagon and do something that would start messing up my lungs again.

Since that night, I had proof I was right. They made me sick, and tasted like crap. Remember the first one you ever smoked as a kid? How THAT felt/tasted? This was EXACTLY that same feeling. Never again.

I'm tellin ya guys, this is a MENTAL addiction, not a physical one. We THINK we need nicotine cause people SAY so. What we need, as longtime smokers, is the SIMULATED EXPERIENCE to a tee. If you have that, you won't need a thing, I am sure of it. Why bother with "juices" that we are all unsure are safe/good for us? Hell, even the Totally Wicked has WARNINGS on em, and to me, that's NOT something I wanna mess with!

What if one day they change the laws like in Australia and close those companies down? Will you resort to making your nicotine juice? Hardly safe, is it? I won't have to worry, cause I make my own nic free, SAFE stuff and it is keeping me off cigs. Try, PLEASE try to do the same, so you're COVERED. That's all I am saying. There is nothing WORSE than feeling FORCED to smoke because you "need" one. This way, once I have stocked on batteries and atomizers, I never will again, no matter what happens with the law on selling em.

Barb, I hope you're right. I'm going to put your theory to the test starting tomorrow :)

Yeah, I think JC is thin because my atomizer holes clog a lot. What brand is thicker?

I have found most eliquid to be too thin for my tastes. I now add a few drops of glycerin that I get from walmart to thicken it up. I've tried a lot of different juices....JC was the thinnest (I thought). So probably anywhere else is thicker.
