How do you know it's not worse? None of us really know anything and only hope what the manufacturers are using has been tested as safe. And "so far" is pretty much irrelevant. We are really talking long term here.

I saw a newb who wanted to vape eye drops...another, ear drops. Yes, I do feel compelled to comment on unknown safety....particularly with those just starting out. But as I said to them....hey, it's your lungs...do what ya gotta do. I can only take care of mine.

Lu

OK you guys will get to know me eventually, and I suppose you have dealt with lots of ...... til now... what kind of IDIOT would want to VAPE eyedrops or eardrops??? OMG that is ridiculous!

Mouthwash makes sense... it's not poison, and if you rinse daily, at least twice a day, which as a smoker I did for 30 years straight, you swallow/inhale some. Saw no issues, so tried it. BIG DEAL.

Guys, I'm a major BI***, but I have a right to be. I am highly intelligent, and will NEVER do something stupid enough to kill me. I'm the kind of person who will figure out how stuff works and fix random stuff. Yes, I know there may be scary dangers, but as you said, it's ALL uncharted territory. I am sorry but I trust my own concoctions a hell of a lot more than some weird tobacco tasting crap with nicotine in it that contains lord knows what.

Yeah, DEFINITELY gonna go with something that I KNOW for a fact won't cause a problem. I don't want to ever have to rely on any company for ANYTHING vape wise except to stock up on atomizers and batteries, and get that usb pass through. I worry that eventually the FDA is gonna ban this like the Aussie Gov't did, and I don't EVER want to have to pick up an analog AGAIN. I refuse to use nicotine in these, as well after all, if I wanted it, I would just smoke.

I am also fully convinced that nobody here is addicted to Nicotine anyway, but instead to the feel of smoking. It's a trick, big business has told us their "studies show" it... total bs IMHO, and I bet if a bunch of people were studied with cigarettes that had NO nicotine, and they didn't know it... NONE of them would experience the withdrawal. I conclude that this is fact due to my own experiences. 24 hours without nicotine, and I am NOT missing it, as long as I have the placebo of vaping, don't even WANT an analog.

I smoked for THIRTY FIVE years. 3 Packs a day, DEEP inhaling to the point that I couldn't even BREATHE mornings lately, and was coughing all day. Someone gonna try and say I didn't get nicotine or some other silly thing? We know I did. So where's my withdrawal? LOL... Anytime I tried before, I had nothing to puff on, so back I went. This time... NO interest at all! NONE! I cried yesterday when my cartridges died cause I couldnt feel VAPOR in my mouth! Not cause I didnt have a "throat hit" or whatever people call it. Geez are we ever stupid human beings, myself included, to believe all this crap the govt has sold us on!

Yes my mind says something stronger would feel more like what I am used to. Also a thicker hole in the cartridge top to make pulling smoother would be quite enjoyable. But what does any of this have to do with Nicotine? NOT A THING. Again proving a point.

I really hope I am right, and that lots of you find out its true for yourselves as well, cause god forbid the US follows in OZ's footsteps, ya'll are gonna need to do without that nicotine juice you all love so well. Perhaps the vaping will be enough without it. I pray for all yall it is, as it is for me. :)

I don't think Vaping pure glycerine with some type of LEGAL FOOD ADDITIVE for flavor can EVER be outlawed. That's the point. Try to get yourself to where you understand that you don't NEED nicotine, never did, never will. For the closed minded of you there, go ahead, enjoy, and believe you need it. But for those with just a LITTLE "Hey, she might be right" thought, TRY IT for a day. Then 2, then 3, and see if I am not onto something.

Sorry for anyone offended. Yeah, I got a big mouth, and I do talk a lot. But deep down, I'm not a bad person :) You'll see.

Looking forward to hearing if anyone else discovers the truth about NIC addiction and how fake that really is.

You seem to have a lot of facts Barb....particularly about nic addiction. Please, just be careful what you recommend to other newbs though. Not everyone is the same as you...nor willing to take certain risks. I wish you well!

Wow great thread. I am new to vaping and awaiting my first e cig and juice. Can't wait to start playing with recipies as I am a cook by nature. Any one know were to get PG in the US? Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart or online? Also I just ordered a big shipment of my high qualty roll your own tobacco right before I discovered e cigs. Might have to try to extract the flavor of my blend. hat a great way to transition. Plus Im hoping I won't need all that backey anymore besides a lil for emergency. Even if I do got to go back once in ahwhile I definatly don't want premade anolog crap:shock:8-o:evil:

I do remember the post, but not the poster. Yeh, he was desperate for something to vape so he started looking around his kitchen....found the ketchup. Have we ever heard from him again? LOL

Lu
I think I saw the ketchup guy at Burger King.....although he had his hand in the mustard bin at the time...might be switching flavors on us :) The Wiz!

If you want PG, you can go to a tractor supply store....the cow section. Not kiddin'....lol

If you want glycerin (VG)....they sell it at Michael's in the candy making aisle. I also picked some up at walmart....humco....by the bandaids. Both are USP so should be safe. I thought the Michaels's one was a lot thinner than the Humco....but you can see for yourself, if interested.

im having some trouble finding uncoloured flavours here in south africa.
Is the colouring in flavours really horribly terrible for vaping?

I also gather you dont want sugars. Is that for human protection or atomizer protection?

Lots of flavourings also contain some alcohols. How much alcohol makes it unsafe? or are there types of alcohols to just avoid?

Hi Seraph, welcome to the forum.

Colourings might or might not be a health risk, we just don't know and some of us try to not inhale anything unnecessary.

Sugars can clog your atomisers, I've not heard about them being a health risk, except for honey which might carry bacteria or something.

Alcohols aren't something I know much about. I happily vape eliquid with alcohol/ethanol present but I don't add extra myself. Some people have tried absinthe and vodka and said it worked well. Rum has been discussed and some people were worried about sugars or the potential for combustion.

I got my Lorann flavors and my VG in today. I just ordered the Lorann ones from ebay on Friday night!! Can't say enough good things about mn77sota. Very communicative and super fast shipping. I highly recommend him as an ebay seller.

I didn't have many free cartridges so I only tried out one mix. It came out GREAT! This is the type of yummy taste I was looking for! Here's what I used:

1 part Lorann Bavarian Cream
1 part Bickford Coffee
1 part VG

My partner suggests more cream, less coffee. I agree on a little more cream, but the more I vape it, the more I'm thinking the coffee gives it a lightly toasted flavor which is really nice.

The Sassafras smells even better than the Bavarian Cream, but I didn't have empty cartridges on-hand to try it. Hopefully tomorrow.

If I may interject for Barb.

You really...REALLY don't think you're addicted to nicotine?

I'll say this; The placebo effect is a powerful one. You can trick the mind...for a time.

Wait until your nerve endings start going nuts, though. The changes you experience when your dopamine receptors start starving will, most certainly, change your mind.

Unless, that is, you're smarter than thousands of doctors, world-wide.

Terraphon, I think I will put this to the test this weekend....I usually use a nicotine juice between 24-36mg,but mixed up a nice batch of DIY no nic liquid with a great throat hit and great taste. I will start vaping Sat morning with this only and see what happens.....just glad I have a bottle of Pure Menthol 36mg on standby :) The Wiz!

Let us know how that turns out.

I know that, even with smoking 24 - 36 mg stuff, uncut, for the first week or so, I was still having mild cravings. After about day 7 they got REALLY bad for a few days but I just manned it out.

I'm hearing that the increased cravings may be due to the OTHER crap in cigarettes.

Man, I'm glad I'm off those things.

I hear you there....I had quit for a month before discovering e-cigs...puffing away on a nicotrol inhaler...I really think there IS something to "The nicotine addiction"(so my doctor said), I will let you know what happens though! The Wiz!

Hi guys, im new to the forums. theres a wealth of information here that i have been tapping into and i have learned so much its almost ridiculous.

i recently bought the evo, and am waiting for them to ship it from the uk to the us. i doubt ill get it within the month, but im already thinking about starting off with DIY fluids.

am i right to assume that the actual commercial suppliers like totally wicked, puresmoker, and johnson creek use PG and VG with very little else added?

i read in a thread about PG that "Nature's Flavors" dot com sells both PG and VG. i didnt read that they were suitable for this application, and no one corroborated that they were okay but here are the names: (i would link but i dont think im allowed to just yet)

Glycerine (CAS Number: 56-81-5) Food Grade
Propylene Glycol (CAS Number: 57-55-6) Kosher

both are one gallon bottles, and im wondering if they're pure enough. it sounds like they are. but at 20 bucks US a gallon, i will have plenty of e-fluid to last me until i give it up completely. im just hoping its the right stuff for the job.

i found these .5oz bottles "6 1/2 oz Amber Boston Round Glass Dropper bottle" on ebay to mix in.

The plan for me is to get flavorless juice and mix with lorann flavorings. and cut with VG and PG if thinner is needed. keep in mind, i havent even gotten my first e-cig yet, its just exciting to think about.is there anything i am missing?

Great to be a part of the forums, Cheers! and THANKS!

Hi bobbertonIND :)

Yes... both of these will be just fine:
Glycerine (CAS Number: 56-81-5) Food Grade
Propylene Glycol (CAS Number: 57-55-6) Kosher

They need to be food or pharmacy grade. I know you'll have so much fun making your juices.. and the LorAnn flavors are soooo yummy! Be sure and let us know which ones you make.. and how you like them!

I think you're wrong to assume that commercial suppliers use PG and VG with little else added.

There's quite a bit that goes in to the liquids, as far as I can tell. Essential oils, distilled water, nicotine (naturally), PG or VG, some form of anti-oxidizer (from some manufacturers) etc...

The list of ingredients on the side of the bottle I have from TW has 16 items listed. Granted, many of them are the flavorings but a lot of them aren't.
