I noticed that "Public Citizen" was one of the parties on the Amicus Brief filed on behalf of FDA. I went to their site to check them out and found out that they see themselves as the "voice of the people". Oh really?

I sent off an email message. Decided to publish it to my blog. Also created a Digg.

The Truth About Nicotine: Email Message to Public Citizen

The message debunks a lot of the misinformation that may have snookered Public Citizen into supporting FDA's position.

I agree. This is your best output to date, Elaine. If reason could win our battle, this fight would end with your ringing words. Alas, reason cannot win over the foes aligned against us, all with monetary interests in the outcome.

And perception remains our biggest obstacle to acceptance. That will be one tough nut to crack.

It could also help if you copy the text of the comments you are leaving on the blog page (excellent comments, BTW), click "Add a Comment" on the Digg toolbar, and paste the text into the Digg page comments. Both Digg votes and Digg Comments are counted when stories are promoted by Digg.

I'll try to simplify it. Steps 1-2 (Copy) and 5 (Paste) are generic directions that can be used anywhere you type text--whether inside of a Word Processing program or an an Internet page. The rest of the steps are specific to this situation.

After you have stored your comment on the Truth About Nicotine blog page,

    1. Click to the left of the first character (in your comment), hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse downward and to the right until all of the text is selected (Highlighted).
    2. Hold down the Control key and press the letter "c". This will Copy the selected text to your computer's clipboard.
[NOTE: The computer does not give you any feedback to let you know that the text actually was copied to the clipboard. You'll find out when you try to Paste the text.]
    3. Go to the top of the page where the Digg tool bar is located and click "Add a Comment". You will then be routed to the Digg comment box.
    4. Click inside the comment box to make the cursor appear.
    5. Hold down the Control-key and press the letter "v". This will Paste the text that you copied to the clipboard by performing steps 1 and 2 (into the Digg Comment box.)
[NOTE: If nothing appears, go back to Steps 1 and 2.]
    6. Click the "Save Comment" button.

On most keyboards, the Control key label is abbreviated "ctrl". Remember that you have to hold this key down until you have pressed the other key. Then you can release both keys.

Please let me know if the above directions are clear and complete. I will edit accordingly.
