Hey everyone our system has crashed! It seems that our hard drive is on the fritz but maybe able to be repaired. I know what some of you are thinking. back up! Where the back up! Honestly I was meaning to grab an external hard drive but wasn't in too much of a rush because our main system is still very new. I can give you a number of reasons but in the end is my own neglect. Hopefully later today we'll be able to remedy the situation. Life is a live And learn concept :D

Yes sir, I meant our systems are down, Order processing and shipping.
However i couldn't log in as of yesterday and called my provider Core commerce to find out that their systems are down as well! When it rains it pours..
New to computers? Crash they do. You may be able to plug it into a hard drive enclosure and get everything you want off it, after you get a new one for the computer. You are not alone, done that myself.
haha Thank you Enut! Funny story, I called HP (Hewlett packard) and they determined that it was my hard drive and have sent a new one out yesterday. In the mean time, I took this hd to a specialist and he did exactly what you said, by putting it into an enclosure transforming it into an external hd. Received the new hard drive today! Threw it in, no dice. Still can't be detected and Hp wants the old hardrive back, good thing it's in an enclosure now! SO, I just got off the phone with them and was told to wait an hour for a call back. Tried to log into Corecommerce and couldn't. called them and their services are down!

Stu, give me a call good buddy!

I think you need to force it to recognize it. Can you see if the drive works on another computer? Try Install New Hardware. Or, I found this --

Another easy way is to see if the system is seeing a new device but may not be warning you, is to go into the My Computer (right click)> System Properties> Hardware (tab)> Device Manager, and see of you are showing any yellow question marks. These yellow marks are for unknown attached devices Windows does not know what it is, and can not install because it has no driver in it's data base to recognize it.
If the hard drive is plugged in, do a re-start of the computer, navigate to the above mention Device Manager and see. If it still does not show any new devices. Plug and Play has been disabled. If not in the System Bio's, then possibly in the Administrator's System Services File.

Thanks for the digging Enut! I couldn't even get that far into the pc. It was freezing up on the splash page but sometime allowed access to the bios. After many many more hours, the whole tower is in a box now just waiting to be sent back to HP as well as box#2 of the old hard drive. The good news is, is that I purchased a nice 2TB Western digital external drive and have successfully converted everything form the old to the new.
However all emails that were very important emotionally and commercially are now lost

Today we have shot out 167 orders! WooHoo!
