Yeah I am at 6 months. I have slowed on the hardware purchases, but my juice buying is completely out of control. I suppose I am saving some, but this was never about money. Since I live in the (relatively) cheap for smokes state of VA, it was more a health and enjoyment issue. Now you CAN save money in short order if you set your mind to it and many here can tell you how. I am just not one of those folks. Setting it aside for a cool trip or whatever is a great way to reward yourself, but every day is like a vacation and I am still searching for the perfect juice, which has been a really cool journey! Right at the moment, Heathers Heavenly Vapes is my favorite juice vendor, but I have many mistresses when it comes to juice, and no wife.

I was fairly calm about buying when i was on the V4L stealth batteries... Now that i'm on the ego setups my wife is rather upset...

I have 2 more vivi-nova's on the way in and i'm getting ready to order 3-4 more j-tanks ( i hate swapping out for flavors ). I've received upwards of 15 different 30ml bottles of juice over the past month and now i'm getting ready to order some more flavors to try.

With the cig size batteries it was all about the addiction and staying off the analogs for the first couple years. Now it's a hobby and as fast as technology on these thing is changing and the new flavors coming out all the time i don't ever see my orders leveling off...

I started vaping a long time ago, in the messy (always wet), everything from China days. But thank you China, for the invention. Nothing took, so I always ended up back on analogs. Recently I dove back in and went back on a buying spree.

The new stuff works better, is less messy, there are decent flavors out there now, and I had my last analog over a month ago. I'm adding a couple high mah batteries for at home to my walking around gear, I have clearos, tanks and cartos of various types to last me quite a while, and I'm ordering from a US juice maker with great flavors and prices. I've found a few flavors I really enjoy, so I can stick with those. I kind of like the idea of the MVPs - super high mah plus variable voltage - so I'll probably pick one up one day, but other than that I expect I'll only be buying juice and replacing clearos and batteries as they fail. Oh, and the new equipment lasts a lot longer than when I started.

On the downside, when I found the setup up I liked, I dug into my vape cabinet and probably chucked north of $700 of gear and old juice in the trash. Old 801,901, etc stuff, so nothing that would resell. So, in my case, once I found what works for me, I can stop buying.

Eh, what you spend now will seem a pittance once you realize what you have saved! I'm seven months in and I've saved a BOAT LOAD (see sig)! After my initial surge of buying, I haven't touched a single juice, mod or otherwise because I was all set up. It's been six months or so and now I'm back because I wanna see what new toys have hit the market and perhaps partake? :D I'm also running low on juice :(

My expense to date consists of buying 4 Mini Vivi Novas, 3 Twists, and about 10 bottles of various juices. Somewhere around $250 total. Since this thread is directed at "enthusiasts", I suppose I don't really qualify to give an answer. I can see how this could become a hobby for me in the future, it just hasn't happened yet.

My break even date is behind me, but the real savings will be in medical expenses that are NOT incurred. I've already seen some smoking related medical expenses and my long term goal is to eliminate those expenses. If you've paid any medical bills lately, you already know how cheap vaping is by comparison. If you could do a net present value calculation, everyone has already broken even.

seems that I find a system I like and then I am good for just under a year in "same liquid and replace parts mode"..then I get frustrated with something or other..and try a new model...good for about a year....then I get bored with what I have and do it again...lol..I hope to be back in "replacement mode" for a while..but I just started with a bit of diy to help offset the cost of my spending spree..so this is a new one, we'll see if the pattern continues. Good thing I am NOT a flavor person, or this too could get expensive

Been at it 13 months

That being said,I think we all get through that buy it all phase one way or the other to some extent; we just dont know.

We tend to rely on people experiences in this forum at 1st...we need a base after all, trial and error...call it help.

Some will settle faster than others be it a matter of money, time or just plain common sense

Its easy to give advice to a newcomer, but here it goes:

-TRY not to succomb to fads (at least, not right away, people get excited about a new product when it comes out, unless its limited edition, there will be more eventually,be it through the classies--if its not that great--or in the diff. stores
-TRY not to follow cults, these fanbois will have you spend your hard earned on anything and everything even if its barely adequate
-DONT TRY to find a 1-stop shop, those are an utopia, you WILL have to get juice from this one and hardware from that one,its inevitable (question of price, service, perso taste, etc)
-TRY to learn quickly, get that 18650 VV/VW tube device (longer batt time, better adjustability for diff atties/juices)
-Read carefully, google everything, check how much it sells for before buying from the classies, find a tank system that works, that doesnt require a 12 step procedure to setup and that you can pickup anytime anywhere and vape on

If you lose interest in a device, sell it,make a note of what you liked and disliked, try to not get a similar thing (rinse repeat)

Main word here is TRY

I dive into a new obsession fast and hard. The first two kits I bought got me off analogs on day one, so even though they are gathering dust on a shelf, I don't regret their purchase. It has been only two months, and I've gone from a classic to an eGo to a Lava Tube VV. I've bought cartos, CE-5's. Vivi Novas, a DCT, but now have settled on my two favorite tanks - For no fuss, the best for me are VVV sidewinders from Ray in Texas. For most of my vape time I use the half dozen Genesis style rebuildables I've acquired. I have enough SS mesh and Kanthal wire for a few years, and all is well. I might be tempted to buy another AGA-t when the V2 comes out, but for hardware I am very solidly set.

In juice, I also took the express lane, buying a few samplers from 4 vendors, a small number of 30ml bottles of ones I was confident in. Then about a month in, I spent $220 on everything I'd need to diy 2000ml of my own. I now have 2 years worth of juice and supplies, and since I will no longer need bottles, or another 100ml graduated cylinder, etc., my future cost of juice will be about $.05/ml

I have already saved enough not smoking to pay for the idle starter hardware. The rest I look at as an investment in my health. My break even date is a ways off, but I am tracking it and expect to see real savings in the long run.

Once I found my perfect rebuildable set-up (GG Ody) I have only bought juice/wire/wick.

I have no intention of changing/buying anything ever--well, unless something mind-blowing comes out. Almost one year cigarette free, and nicotine free. I just like to vape as a hobby...my current set-up has me smiling every time I use it.
