How you liking the LavaGen setup? I got one reactor and one lavatank coming, was going to do a review.

Well, I usually take my time before making conclusions and Ive had it only a few hours of vaping time. That said I like it and dislike it.

I like the thumbscrew on top. Big and easy to adjust. Problem is that it is so huge it makes it hard to wrap the coil with the wick in place. Its mute issue with the Peter K method, however. It is a pain to tinker with the coil. I saw dino used an extension and a cone to slide it up without removing the juice but I dont have an extension. I love that I can line up the wick hole like with the AC9. I actually think they have improved what the AC9 did with the spacers on top as opposed to the little nuts that come loose on the AC9.

I have not tried the tank it came with. The glass one I have though has a bit of a loose fit on the reactor cap. Of course that may be the tolerance match between my tank and my cap, Im guessing that may not be the case for some others as we know tolerances are not engineering tight.

No leaking out of the bottom so far which is nice since my reactor always had leaking issues. Personal preference says I dont like seeing in the top half but that is what it is. All in all Im super glad to have re-born my reactor which had been sitting lonely for a while. Its working just fine though, but as you know there isnt much to it.

I cant wait to see your review as always.

Brilliant collection there! Some day I need to get all mine together for one group family photo. I love the pinch the most out of the ones you have posted there. I think Im not even seeing my favorite of all the ones you own. How many are not in this picture. I can think of only 1 for sure.

Theres two missing from this photo :) but the one you think of I did sell to another enthusiast.... I love the pinch and Matt did a great refurbish on it, even a beautiful new wax. Thank you Matt for that btw! :)

Okie Doke. I picked up one of these new clearos that are on the site. I wanted something cheaper for road travel. My lightest (not smallest) pipe is the Brian Judge so I picked that one for the pairing. Some of you might be on the fence on this one so I thought Id do a short pro and con list. Here is a quick cell pic I took.

Judge w Clearo by pseudohippy, on Flickr

Cons:

1. Crazy cheap materials. Ok, take with a grain of salt, I have pretty nice atomisers and the such. But the plastic on this feels really cheap to me. This may be a pro however in that the price is pretty cheap also.

2. I hate those stupid fill lines on the plastic of the tank. Im not sure I see any kind of use for them.

3. The pipe tip part keeps popping off when coming in and out of a pocket or even bumping it on my side while walking. Ive picked it up out of the dirt and off the road already lol.

4. The draw feels pretty tight. True though, Im used to a pretty loose draw but to me this is a bit too tight. It is loosely connected to the pipe so I think the draw is what it is and thats it. I dont like it much.

Pros:

1. Cheap, very replaceable.

2. Easy fill

3. Compact and covers the threads without adding a cone. Plus has a pipe looking mouthpiece, nice all in one piece.

4. Works pretty much perfectly. No dry hits in three days. None. Its working better than my vivi novas. Taste is the same as any of my silicone wick devices. So I gotta say Im impressed that it works so well, no flooding issues either. Keep in mind Ive been using fairly thin juice that is forgiving to these types of devices.

Overall, yes, Im gonna pick up a spare in case I smash this one or loose the pipe tip somehow. Cheap feeling but cheaply replaceable so it depends on your perspective I guess. Ill update if it stops working. I wish I could rebuild it lol. Overall a win for an on the go clearo that you wont have to worry about breaking.

ok. so I have only casually glanced at these in the past. I have just started to look with some more interest.

could someone give me a rundown of some basics when it comes to these devices? What is needed? how do they work exactly? If there is a place with all the info, you could just point me there instead. thanks in advance!

The website to start. Then look for the Mistbusters youtube page. Especially at the V2.5 or Steampipe vids. Even the 2.0 gives you the general idea.

They are just 510 devices with an ego connection. They use mostly either a 18350 or 18500 battery. Just look on the website for the different models. They use a resettable vapesafe for circuit protection.

If I was to buy a my first pipe I would just get the pipe first and either nipple top AW18350 or 18500 or the ones Matt sells right on the site. He does recommend using his batteries. I would also get a cone to cover the ego threads. Unless of course you are using a carto/atty that is designed to fit over said threads. After owning the pipe I would then browse the pipe stems and get a good idea of which one will look best on the pipe and work with your atty. Most of the stems work in place of a standard drip tip and they come with a universal adapter. There are some that are bigger and fit the large hole in say the really huge dual coil cartos.

Thats all I can think of without more specific questions. Hope I helped.

what I would want to do mainly is use one of these with a variety of genesis 510 devices. It seems like most are set up for EGO's Am I wrong? What would I need to make one work with the mentioned devices?

thanks for your help!

Ob, you ......., they work great with genny's with a straight ego cone to cover the ego threads, the mini DID and mini-hellfires look and work beautifully on them. The ego fitting is a standard threaded 510 connecter, with some extra threads on the outside. Any 510 will work fine on it. A ZAU with an ego bell adapter matches good too. The ego threading has no effect on the 510 threading. They matter more for things like stardusts and larger ego atomzer/cartos/clearos. Look back a page or two and you can see my pipe with a mini DID and emonty has a few pics posted with a mini Hellfire and mini DID too.

You know how to contact me if you have questions.

Actually ob, look up like 5 posts. LSVap has pics posted of pipes with gennys including a bliss, mini-DID, one that looks like a ZAU

Yup, thanks ian. Im not good at explaining things sometimes. There are some really nice attys that actually take advantage of the ego threads like the Steam Machine VST or Gennie. Love that combo so far. But yeah, I use my pipes with Hellfire, Penelope, GG Drip, ReactorGen, DID, AC9, Pheonix, Vision ET and they all work great.

So all I need in addition to the pipe is that adapter?

What about shapes? How does one know which shape is best for them and what the differences are?

No adapter needed. Unless you are referring to the cones. They are just to cover the threads for looks only. You dont need one. When you say shapes, are you referring to the pipes? If yes then I guess it is whatever you like. I like the dragons, they stand up with a gennie on it, no tipping over. If you get one of the other pipes you may want to buy a pipe stand.

Pictures are worth a thousand words and vids are better.

so the stems pictured do not come with the pipe correct?

Hey everyone I am back from vacation and revived with Caribbean inspiration!

To answer your question ob, no, the stems are sold separately.
If you scroll down on the product page there is a fairly concise description that explains what comes with the pipe and compatibility etc. etc.

Back to my inspired return...
I have around 30 or so pipes on the bench to finish and post this weekend:2cool:
I have also been studying ancient art and architecture. I got to walk along the Great Wall of San Juan and see some 5-600 yr. old structures first hand. A few years back i was able to visit the mayan temples of coba and chichen itza. I plan to continue this art study over the next few years and hope to tour the Mediterranean. I have always been fascinated with Egyptian, Greek, Hindu/ Indian, Sumarian, and so on, art and sculpture. I hope that this study will help to expand my artistic expression. So if you begin to see some of these influences in my sculpting and even the titles, that would be why:thumbs:
