Too late on the whole niccing out deal. Lol

It's a real treat.

The menu system is pretty simple - much simpler than the instructions make it seem. The Custom Settings will take a bit of getting used to, but the basics (adjusting the wattage, checking battery voltage, checking the set wattage, etc) is very simple.

The colors around the ring appear to be a bit off, especially in the middle of the range (there seems to be some blue where the chart indicates it should be solidly green), but it's not too big of a deal.

I'm currently vaping Oak Barrel Cider from Pipe Sauce in a kayfun 3.1 clone with a 1.6 ohm micro coil at 12.5W, and doing it very happily. :)

I wonder at what speed the wattage changes. It appears to be about .5W per second. I'll ask Eric for my review

Is a treat, isn't it. I'm hard-pressed to name another device I'd prefer to use.

I agree with you on the menu. Reading the user guide left me a bit befuddled, but actually using the device cleared things right up. My only "problem" is remembering when I want option 5, and when I want 6. I'm training my mind to remember that 5 looks vaguely like a B for batt, and 6 looks like an upside down P for power. Every time I say that to myself, I remember..... for all of about 27 seconds.

I just tested mine for wattage changing speed. I made the change with a split second tap, and it went down from 10.1 to 9.7. I dunno the speed, but it is FAST!

Can't wait to see your review!

Happy Vapes, Mr. Tubb.

That about lines up with my .5W/second hypothesis. I'd bet that's actually what it is. I'll confirm with Eric once I have some questions for him.

Love the unboxing posts, Mr. T. That was awesome, and your pics superb.

I planned on using those pics in the review. There are so many pieces (chargers ahoy!, screwdrivers, etc) that I decided rather than pack it all up to show an unboxing on camera, that's I'd document it as I took it out of the box the first time. It's easy to repack it all with a mech MOD. Most of the time it's a simple box with a couple of tubes in it. This one, not so much.

One extra plus is that Eric modified the outlet charger such that it will fit US plugs. Of course all of the running around I did to find an Aussie>US adapter (they're actually universal adapters, so it's not a completely wasted effort) was for naught (which I only did once I realized that I'd be getting it today rather than Friday like I originally expected), not to mention the Aussie>US-specific adapter I bought and had it shipped via 2-Day. But such is life.

*Once again all is right with the world. With a new and very excellent vaporizer in hand, the brave hero boldly lies down in bed for some chat on ECF and many, many vapes.*

(The End)

Confused... there was a guy in the cardboard box?

Very nice looking mod and seems like it fits in the hand nicely. Some photos make it look kinda huge but looks a reasonable size from your photos. Congrats on the purchase!

That is a great idea. I'd rather see unboxing photos actually - for me videos are about seeing how it performs out of the box.

No man in the box, but when my beard gets frizzled, I look like I belong in a box. LOL

It does fit nicely. I held a Hana Modz last night, and the EPM is far more ergonomic, even if it may be larger (I'm not sure it is). It also has some serious heft to it. This is no toy. You feel like you're holding something substantial, and that's because you are.

It does fit quite nicely, and feels good because this baby has curves. I'd say Eric knocked the form factor out of the park. You get the compactness of a box MOD, and the comfort of a tube. That it runs dual 18490s for a total of 2200mah in such a small package is bonus.

I'm wondering if Eric specifically chose the AW batteries for an engineering reason, or whether simply because they're reported as being exceptionally good batteries. I'm wondering if he couldn't outfit the battery pack in the 18650 with something like the Sonys or the new Efest 35A 2500mah batteries in order to get out of this world battery life.

Agreed, completely! Ergonomically the pinnacle, and weighty, yes. But even for those (ahem, me) who like small and lite, there is just something..... ahhh, that je ne sais quoi ..... that is so unbelievably tantalizing about this device. And curves.... we all like curves (for differing reasons perhaps).

DPL said it best. It's a Box mod and a tube mod put together. YOU do the math. :)

The 18650 V2 EPM runs 2 x 2600mah Sony US18650VTC5's.

Score!!

This is good news. After having used the 18490 for just 1/2 a day, I'm convinced I want an 18650 model (though it will have to wait a bit - these ain't cheap!).

I'm wondering if he's in development mode for the v3 of the EPM . . .

Can someone say 50W? Or even 100W? The only limitation I can see (which isn't a limitation for me or most) is the .6Ω limit. A 50W or 100W MOD should be able to deal with those limits quite nicely down to .3Ω (though I imagine it's much more difficult than that from an engineering standpoint).

So you like it?

Seriously - I love my 650 model, but given a choice, the 490 trumps it large. Especially now, with the pass-through and compatible car charger. Mine is the older model (with the 2200mah's) but the battery pack still lasts forever. It doesn't LOOK much bigger, but there is pretty large difference in both size and weight.

And since the V2 just came out, I'm thinking there aren't immediate plans for a V3 (laughing).

And, not to be (too) glib, if I want something at 100W, well, I reckon I'll just start smoking again.
