I use 510 atomizers. There are several kinds -some cheap, some expensive. Some people use shorty cartos. I like 510T since they have a small amount of wicking and the toppers I usually use do as well, so the flavor doesn't change much and I know what to expect. The flavor does change a bit if I use a rda after testing but it's usually better. I can tell well enough with the cheap 510Ts if the liquid is going to suck or not. Lots of people prefer bridgeless 510 attys...whatever works for you.

I'm in the process of talking my better half into let me make my own liquid, but i'm wondering what would be the best way to test them out. Right now i'm using an ego-c with some evod tanks with 1.8ohm coils. I was thinking of a dripper but not sure what I should get to test them out.

Thank you for asking this question. I have just started making my own juice and was wondering the same thing.

I use the cheapest 510 atty's I can find and just wad a small peace of cotton in it and drip on to it. I discard the cotton rinse and I'm ready for the next test. Very fast and easy.

When you say you use a small piece of cotton, what type of cotton do you mean? Like a cotton ball? I am new to all of this, so please excuse the silly question.

No problem let me know how you make out on your juice, my wife is going nuts about me making it she is worried that i'll make it to strong and kill over for some reason.

I use organic cotton balls (Target pharm section) in my nimubs RDA (usually I build a microcoil @ ~1 ohm).

It's amazing how many wicks you can get out of a single cotton ball.. Never really counted, but I know I can easily get 15 per ball.

For each new flavor I just pull out the wick, take a q-tip and swab down the deck a bit, do a dry burn 4-5 times, and put the new wick in.. good to go. Some people don't even do the q-tip cleaning, just dry burn, and put the new wick in. I've just had trouble with lingering juice flavors/aroma in the past, so a quick once over with the q-tip takes care of it.

Start out with a lower mg nic rather then going whole hog for the 100%. I started out with 48mg and dilute to 24mg. This way you can get used to the equipment your using and the viscosity of the liquid. Maybe that will help her feel better about it. They do also sell a test kit that you can use to mg test your final product. I didn't use one, I just trusted that what I got was 48mg so when I cut it in half I got 24mg. I use rubber gloves and a TV tray covered in a clean cloth. I am really enjoying it. Will save you money in the long run too.

So based on the link to the blog that I read, if I don't want to dry burn, I can pull out the cotton, blow it out and rinse in water and wait for it to dry before I add new cotton correct?

Someone else might have to take that one, looks like we're talking about two different things. I use an RDA for testing, that blog post is talking about a 510 atomizer.

Cotton balls will work just fine. Rip a very small peace and roll it between your thumb and pointer finger into a small ball. Then put it into the atty between the coil bridge and atty wall then saturate it with your test mix and vape. When your done and want to switch flavors use a needle and pull it out, discard it and rinse the atty under water shake it out real good and blow out excess water, dry burn it and put another wad of cotton ball in and your ready to go again.

yes you can do it that way but there's no need to wait if you blow out the excess water and dry burn.

Mix up some unflavored liquid figured for 2% flavoring. Pull out 1-5ml and mix 2% flavors in some small vials. Use those to play around with a dripper to see which flavors need more and which needs less (cut with more unflavored if it needs less, add another drop or two if it needs more) and play around with ratios (so many drops of that, so many drops of this) for flavor mixes.
After that you can tweak the final mix for whatever you plan on using it in because different heads will do different things to different flavors (a stainless wicked gennie can get overpowered with menthol at times as it separates in the tank while a silica wick can hold menthol over from flavor to flavor).

Thank you, will be looking for cheap atty's this weekend. Any suggestions for best pricing?
