So, they are saying silica is bad for you? Hmmm- that sure is a concern. If there are alternatives, what is everyone using with good success??

They're having a lot of luck with medical gauze, cheesecloth, cotton yarn, bamboo yarn, etc. I'm starting out with cotton candlewick Amazon.com: Cotton Square Braid Candle Wick - #1/0: Arts, Crafts & Sewing.

Eventually I'll branch on out into stainless steel mesh to make wicks with. Read the thread though first before you look at alternatives. Lots of good info other people have already found out through trial and error.

stainless steel mesh wicks would be what I would suggest with a reo. There is not really a need for good wicking with a bottom feed atty. the advantage of a bottom feeder to me is that you can keep your wick nice and wet. sterile non toxic medical pads (not just the gauze you wrap around it) seems to be a favorite of those who are on the cotton side that are worried with health concerns. as a bonus, you can pick them up at your local pharmacy/walmart/cvs/walgreens etc. I have been favoring SS mesh with my rebuildable, but thats just me. different strokes for different folks. I get super clean flavor and a long lasting wick with stainless steel. One thing about stainless steel is you must get it oxidized properly, and that requires owning a propane torch. They are just 15 bucks or so a lowes though. my personal way is first heat and squench in tap water 3 times, then put juice on it and light it on fire. let the fire burn out and repeat. Stainless gives me a harshness for the first day or two on a new wick. I have to step down my nic during that period or it is too much for me. thats just my experience. The ERA sounds like a winner for the bottom fed rebuildable atomizer. As long as it performs well, at 55 dollars you cant beat it.
