Argh, wish I could edit my processing FT order to add more stuff if it hasn't shipped yet. I already placed 2 separate orders because I forgot to add something and they had different ship dates. The glass tanks from FT are quite cheap... but the colored ones from IBTanked are really pretty! I want a red one myself. Damn aesthetics costing so much.

I just realized that I hadn't ordered those glass tank sections yet. They were in a previous order that I cancelled. So I ordered 2, paid for upgraded shipping and protective box packaging, it came to $6.29 after using the XMAS14 coupon code. As long as they keep that code active, I will continue to impulse buy stuff from fasttech. :D

It seems no matter what size coil I build, it remains stable but after two days of chain vaping it starts to wonder. Currently my 1.4 ohm build is reading between 1.2 - 3.3 ohm on everything I put it on. Can't figure it out.

Resistance on my coils typically seems to increase over life of the coil. Don't know why. Perhaps oxidation layer at the coil's contact points? Not much of an issue with VW. I built using complete right-handed wrap around screws and tightened with needle nose pliers before tightening screws. Just rewicked current coil (maybe 1 1/2 weeks old) and not seeing any issue (other than some noted resistance creep over coil lifetime).

If resistance is fluctuating, a bad connection seems most likely (though could be coil shorting against the chimney, broken wire, etc.).

I cleaned out my tank and coil, resistance is still JUMPING all over the place mid-fire (I can hear and feel the difference during the pull). Pulled the 2 day old coil, put in a new 1.5ohm coil, Same thing on everything I have that measures/shows resistance, massive resistance jump.

Broke it down completely 100% break down, dried it out overnight. Rebuilt it this morning, and resistance jumping all over. I am confident that I do not have a short in my coil. When I first placed the coil this morning I was getting massive jump decided to just go with it and see what happens. Right now things seem to have settled a bit, at rest the coil is measuring 1.8 when I fire it drops to 1.6 I want to love this tank, if I can get this resistance jump nailed down. I really like the Erl mini, and it has been my daily carry since I got it, so much to love about this amazing little tank.

Geekmedic, you might try lowering your coil a little, closer to the air hole. Occasionally when I do a new build on these I get the ohms all over the place deal too. Something about pushing it down a bit seems to steady everything as I am checking this while I tweeze together a micro-coil. Pushing down a bit shouldn't change a thing, but it just does for some crazy reason????

I might add that the Kayfun Quartz tank does fit the mini Erlk. Because it is shorter there is about a .5mm gap at the top. This doesn't seem to effect vacuum or cause it to leak. Pretty awesome for a buck thirty. I also throw away the original O-rings and replace with new black ones. They seem to have more heft than the originals and keep a tighter vacuum.

The only thing I don't like about the mini Erlk clone is the air flow. The silver box clone has much better air flow. I will probably fix this, but for now it will do.

I will drain it and give it a shot.

When my glass tank from FT arrived it was cracked. FT is sending my a new one.:p

I'm not a huge fan of the bottom control, but I find once I have my initial fill and I adjust it it seems fine no need to go back and mess with it. What is it about the silver box clone that is better.

Geekmedic, this is probably a silly question but have you made sure that your 510 is tight? The Erlk's 510 is non-adjustable.
Not silly at all, but yes I have adjusted the 510, I have to to get it to read on my VV 3's (same resistance jump).

Thanks for the tips peeps

So, you backed it out to make contact with your mod? If so, that could be causing your resistance fluctuations. The 510 is non-adjustable on the Erlk and must be tightened all the way in. If it doesn't make contact with your mod then a small washer can be used but it should still be tightened all the way.

It seems as though the Erl Mini on FT has an adjustable 510 pin. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but it is the only way I can get it to even read on my VV 3's

Edit:I thought I had seen in this thread it was adjustable as well. I've done all of the above suggestions as well as tighten the 510 screw. right now my 1.7-1.8 ohm coil is showing 1.5 - 1.6 ohm on my iPV mini my target zone. Hope this stays this way.

Correct, 510 pin on FT mini is adjustable. And something else you might want to disassemble and check. First unscrew and remove the 510 pin. Underneath you'll see a nylon/plastic/etc. fastener with screwdriver slot. Unscrew/remove this which will free positive post and insulator from the deck. Inspect for any issues. Maybe this insulator was loose?

I believe the insulator was the issue. I removed the 510 screw and the plastic piece seemed loose, I tightened it, replaced the 510 and all seems well.

Edit: Thanks for all the help guys

Size is everything no matter what they tell Ya ;)

With atties, the smaller, the better. Tired of carrying light sabres... If they at least worked, I could slash some clients in half but as they don't, no reason to walk with one in the first place :)

Tony
