Erlkonigin and Clone Comparison

I finally got my Erlk clone and I gotta say that the workmanship is quite good!.... Well it would've been even better if I can get it to work! I did a build on it and I'm getting juice sucked up the drip tip. I rebuilt it with less cotton, took off the bottom delrin completely and I'm still sucking juice ??? I took everything apart to find out how I can get air flow and I just don't understand it.

with the bottom parts out, I can only see 2 holes that gets air into the tank. One hole is through the post, but that is covered by the screw. Another goes through the middle hole but that is also covered by the 510 screw... with those two holes covered then there's no way to get air in the tank unless I loosen the 510 screw to push up the center. I'm really not getting it. .. or maybe I got one that's missing an airhole??

the air comes from the center positive pole. If you disassemble the atty, you will notice it has a hole perpendicular to the vertical hole which is where the air enters.

Was this a Silver Boxed clone? I know my Silver Boxed clone worked perfectly once I got the hairstyling down

I tried going back to a kayfun, and found the draw too tight. The ErlK has spoiled me.

Good Morning PlanofMan! Have you tried the Russian v2.0 yet? Its got amazing Airflow and toothless/Tool-less filling now. I been meaning to post some pics of mine for everyone but been too busy with work and Rea-Life stuff. Maybe later today. Anyway, the Russian v2.0 is my go to tank ATM right next to my Russian 91% and Kayfun clones.

I don't know which version it is, but I was surprised when it came with a metal drip tip!

That's one heck of a flaw... I suppose taking it to the machine shop for a quick and dirty "drill through" is out of the question?

Yup, I'll just clamp it on a vise and drill it. No biggie Just to make sure. The holes are supposed to be in line with the notches on the adjacent piece, correct?

Yes. With the 510 threaded piece where the four notches are.

Wow! They totally missed drilling it. Damn!

Sounds like a tough job to me but here's hoping the best for you.

Also: On mine, the CENTER of the cross-drilled hole is just a hair shy of 4mm down from the underside of the top flat part. Though I would guess that as long as you just don't make yours to far down the shaft you'll be fine.

Or, just put the holes where they are just below the underside of the main deck when the Positive Post is installed. But not too far down so that they end up inside the 510 sleeve/cup.

The Silver Box comes with Delrin Tip so yeah you got the mystery box edition. Try to get the silver boxed ones, they work pretty damn good IMHO. Another good thing is you can use that steel tip with the silver box clone if I'm not mistaken.

Might want to confirm with Jaxgator, he is my go to guy anything Erlk, I think he has 6 authentic Erlks now and a few Clones.

Nah, I've currently got 2 authentics and one clone although I just ordered another authentic as well as an Erlprinz this morning. I wanted to see what the Prinz all about. Especially, now that the ErlK people are QCing them individually. I'm interested to see how the Prinz compares to both the authentic and the clone that I have.

I just made one Erl out of two, the FT silver box and SS drip tip version. I took the 2mm adjustable post and chimney from the $15 version and installed it on the silver box version. really hated the silver box versions 510 pin (to short) now its all good

Yeah the 510 thing (I loosened and retightened) and the top o-rings but otherwise it’s not bad for the money.

My kayfun is the 2 airhole EHPro one. Airflow is fine. But, the flavor is better on the other tanks I mentioned.

I have no street cred either . I love that clone elenamylove sent me, so that tells you about my street cred, lol! And once it gets a glass tank, it will look awesome, too.

And after buying the authentic SqR, I can't even afford more clones to play with, lol! However, going to be building some mods so that should keep me busy for awhile
