Agree. It won't look right. Which is unfortunate because I don't care for the delrin dt. I tried to use the Yiloong adapter on the FT clone, but it looks bad.
Has anyone tried this atty with 2-3mm silica? I can't help but think that this atty was NOT designed for cotton.

Thanks for the tip! I had to buy the 22mm today, and picked up the purple PMMA and another 21mm SS for myself, too. I wasn't sure about the whole 'clone' Erl until I got one on ebay, and it's working on the VF DNA 40 with the first build and 3 cleanings of the coil! Pain free!!! If they work as well, the 22mm will be my working tank.
I've yet to hear of anyone using silica for wicking in either the clones or the authentic.
I only use rayon for my wicking material choice.
I am of the opinion that the Erlk was intentionally built to be used with silica. Mainly because of the juice channels but also because of the "wick ring" or whatever it's called. Speaking of which, I have removed that ring on all of my Erlks (authentics & clone) and haven't had any issues whatsoever. The Erlprinz doesn't even come with one.
HA! I think I turned Qorax onto rayon build on his Erl, after I found it wasn't so difficult to get a good wick going with it, compared to cotton. I never tried silica, but I'd bet on it being harder to get good wicking with an adequate sized coil wick and (ew!) thinning silica into the wick channels.
I found an Erlkonigin Nano clone on alibaba. I wonder how long that will take to filter out to a normal place to buy it. I want to try the Erl, but I REALLY hate big tanks, and I'm certainly not spending the money on an original before I can play with it a bit.
It really isn't all that big...except juice capacity.
And weighs next to nothing. (with plastic tank)
Yeah, its much smaller than my 5ml tanks and holds 6. But, 6ml is a lot of juice. But, I agree on buying a clone first to find out if you want to spend the money on an authentic.
The weight isn't a big deal. It's the height that bugs me. I know I'm being .... retentive about this, but to put it into perspective, I want the Erl Nano because it's smaller than the Kayfun Nano I have now.
Still waiting on that nano link.

This was the sole reason I got an erlp... Yes, I admit it. My kayfun nano was satisfying me but I hate walking with a magic wand or light sabre around. I even run my evics in 18350 just because of the size so the erlp Nano obviously appealed to me.
In the end, I'm glad I bought it. My kf nano is my backup now.

Roxy - I got the same YiLoong version with the high channels on the shoulders...kind of ticked me off...now I see you are mentioning cutting them down. Did you just grind them down? Did you need to polish or smooth them after?

These are the type of bits that I use in my Dremel for for atomizers most of the time. they are coated with diamond dust and produce a fairly smooth finish.
One could with patience use a round jewelers file on the area of the Erl clone shoulders.
Harbor Freight sell a couple of rotatory tools for cheap, one $10 or less and a pretty good one for around $25.

The Dremel bit I used to cut in the wick slots was like the 5th from the left in dwcraig's photo. I didn't polish. They looked fine and were smooth. No one can see them
