I've yet to have any problems with police. I went to a restaurant/bar that was having some kind of holiday party for the police personel and one of them came up to me at the bar and asked, "Is that one of those new cigarettes I've been hearing about?" He then called over a few other cop buddies and they thought it was great.

However, that being said, I only drive at night with my orange/red LED so that it only looks like a cigarette as I drive by.

Oh that would of scared the crap out of me lol.

I was at the stand in the mall with my e-cig guy, just chatting about my e-cig nothing new. We saw a cop walk by he looked like he was about to confront him on "smoking" in the mall but the security guard who was talking with him pulled him aside and they continued walking. I'm assuming the conversation went along these lines:

Cop: *stares* "what the **** are they doing???"
Security: "It's ok its not smoke its just vapor we know those guys"

I didn't feel like getting questioned by the cop lol

I was in line behind 2 officers in 7-11 a few months ago.
I asked them if they knew about it, which they didnt, and proceeded to show a little puff.

They just looked at me with this glazed "uhhh... uh-huh" look, and bought their donuts. =/
I just wanted them to know about it to avoid things like what was discussed here.

Yes. I bought mine from a gov't employee who vapes in the building. And Nasa has hundreds of vapers working there. Soldiers in war vape as well.
I work for a government agency in DC and vape at my desk while working. None of my coworkers mind at all and it boosts my productivity so none of my supervisors mind one bit. lol:D

I guess only thing I would be concerned about is if you were vaping in your car for a long time with an especially strong or herbal smelling juice that might have left some scent behind. (Though I don't even know if that can happen. Personally, when I walk into my house after being gone a while I can smell residual cigarette smoke. But if I go into my room or study where I've been vaping a ton, I don't smell anything - and I have a super-acute nose).

Only reason this even occurs to me is that a number of years ago I was smoking herbal cigs in an attempt to cut down and/or quit regular cigs. Got into a car accident & apparently the first bystander who had come to check on me told the responding officer that there was a "suspicious odor" in my car. Apparently the cop could tell that I wasn't acting oddly or anything & just asked what was up. Told him I was smoking herbal cigs, trying to quit smoking, showed him the box, and he just said "Cool, good luck."

So, yeah, if you're polite & don't get all defensive, I doubt there will be problems unless you just run into someone being a jerk.

Well, I was at a cigar bar last Saturday with my-maybe soon to be brother in law- who also happens to be a cop from the Tampa, Florida area. He'd never seen an e-cig before. I showed him my little leather "Coach" pill case (filled with extra batt's, atty's cart's and a couple of tiny sample bottles of my favorite flavors of e-juice) and asked him what he'd think of my little "kit" if he'd pulled me over and spotted it. He said he'd DEFINATELY pull out the drug testing kit and would have to check out all my juices!!! He found it quite "suspicious" looking! (But I guess now that he's seen my "paraphernalia" maybe he WON'T be so worried if he pulls an e-cig user........)

This did happen to me. I had my 4081 for about three weeks and had just picked up my first order from TW. I was vaping and driving and then flashing lights were in my rear view. I actually didn't even think about the e-cig and figured it was something like an expired tag, as I was not speeding. As I watched the cop walk up along side my car I noticed him unclip a holster for a gun on his thigh. He also had on another gun and had more gear than your normal patrol officer, later found out he was a narcotic officer.

I new something was off immediately and he immediately began with: "Have you ever been to Jail?" I have not and said so. He was very persistant, asking again about prior arrests and then asking if I had anything to hide and if he could search the vehicle. I was taken by surprise and said sure. When I asked why, he said he had probable cause and I did have an expired inspection tag. He put me in the back of his car, without cuffing me, he said he had to to search the vehicle. As I watched him dig through my truck I remembered the manilla envelope full of little brown bottles of e-juice on my front seat. I had just started dripping that day.

Anyway, he came back and sat in the front seat of his car. About five seconds later he blurted out: "Mr. ****, are you trying to quit smoking? I answered yes and said I had been thinking about how to explain the bag of strange juices and droppers. He then let me out of the car and said he had heard of these devices but not seen one. He also stated the he smelled an "herbal odor" and that was why he wanted to search me. I knew that was BS, I was vaping TW's tobacco that had almost no odor but I think he was trying to justify himself. He then began to ask questions about price, results, etc. It ended there, he let me go without anything about the bad tag and said thanks for not giving him any problems about the search. He was being overly cautious. If it had been your regular patrol officer I would probably have argued about the search but I have not had experience with narcotic police and this guy was not somebody I wanted to get into it with.

So it was a crappy experience but I wonder how much worse it would have been if TW's stuff wasn't labeled as electronic cigarette, the juice had not been labeled at all or if I had a device that looked nothing like a cigarette. I think it might have been harder to explain and its not like you can take a puff and offer it to him and say: "Here try it, its not drugs."

I'm about to order my Screwdriver MK2 and that was one of the first things to go through my mind. I could just see it now, getting pulled over because it looks like a piece. I'm already sort of terrible explaining things under pressure without being a complete smartass. I dont know how I could handle that. xD

Aside from that, I had got a weird look from a off duty officer coming out of my work the other day just as I was dripping outside hahaha. He gave me a double take, raised an eyebrow, then just nodded and kept walking.

In my experience, I get more heat from uninformed spectators than cops. I live around Burbank, CA, and as anyone who has been to downtown Burbank can tell you, it is illegal to smoke in public places. That being said, I started vaping while I was walking down the street on my way to grab a cup of coffee. I passed by this couple who whispered to each other about about how I was breaking the law by smoking. I let it go knowing I was completely within my rights and the right side of the law. Later that day, I was vaping outside a bar around the same area. Some cops pulled over to the side of the road, looked at me for a second and got out of their squad car, then they walked to the other side of the plaza. All this happened while I was vaping. Since then, I don't mind vaping in public even if their is a smoking ban. I just mind the bad looks I get from people who don't know what I'm doing and "assume" I'm doing something illegal.

As far as getting pulled over is concerned, I have not been pulled over for vaping. I have stoped at a stoplight with cops next to my car, but nothing ever happens. I go my way and they go theirs.

i've been pulled over many times mainly bc my 3500 is just barely legal with the lift kit and tires, every cop has to measure. which is fine with me, i know it's legal, i just stand next to the truck and let em measure away. i was pulled over once at nite. i was using my 510 wid the blue LED and vaping alot. he said he thought i was using a blue LED lite to scare ppl. i didn know most ppl looked that high off the ground for a blue lite in there rear view. i explained to him what it was and he said ok, but suggested that i find a new LED color. I think i mite scare a local drug runner and make him speed off and get into an accident.

I always worry about this when I'm driving too. Of course it's perfectly legal and innocent but I have a feeling that after you get pulled over he/she is going to be looking for every reason in the world to give you a ticket. After all, they just wasted their time pulling you over and probably feel a bit stupid. Maybe they'll break one of your tail lights with their baton to give you a ticket for that. I'm just speaking from experience with the law enforcement from my area. I have way too many stories where people I know or I had some bad experiences (even BEFORE e-cigs).

I have wondered what a cop who is unfamiliar with e-cigs would think it was. I drive through a lot of rural areas regularly. I am a bit concerned that some small town cop might pull me over, notice the strange "pipe-like" object in my car, THEN he would come accross my little purple leather pill case which is filled with extra batteries, atomizers and a variety of prefilled carts. It might mean a LOT of explaining. I figure the best thing to do is carry your original "instruction manual". My 510 came with a small one so I keep in my pill case with all my extras.

LOL I keep the user manual in my purse because we have so many types of cops and security officers here in DC plus your basically on camera at all time when your in public here. I notice on camera you cannot see the led as as clearly. I figure in the off chance somebody questions me as to what it is I can save time by just giving them the manual. I know one of girlfriend's friends had said to her "your friend was putting drops in a pipe and smoking it at the bar" thinking it was something illicit.
