Early on in my vaping, had a local Sheriff deputy walk up to me at the local boat ramp and ask:

LEO - Had to come over and see what the heck that thing is you're puffin'?
Me (drinking a 'no-no in da park' beer) - Fancy electronic cigarette. (Buzz Pro w/DCT)
LEO - How's it work?
Me - (10 minute explanation and an ECF card later)
LEO - Some of my guys need to check into this. Thanx fer da info. Have a nice day!

Since I was sitting with some other local 'ramp rats', I think it was more curiosity than anything else. He was an older... errr... umm... experienced LEO and didn't project any suspicion; in other words, very pleasant.

Whenever I see an LEO, I intentionally imitate Mt. Vesuvius. Yet to get pulled over. But, if they ever ask, I'll educate. Oh, BTW, I'm retired and have da time to hold 'classes'.

OFF topic IFFY, i really need to see you backin a boat on a ramp(hopefully in 3-d ) with a postperson with first class stuff :)

I'm a dispatcher for Police & Fire, and have been doing a lot of informing to my folks. They have been very receptive. I ran into someone from our Maintenance dept yesterday, and he just got his first PV, and we were chattering on about this & that & comparing setups, and I looked over to see one of my Officers and one of my Firefighters listening in. :)

Frankly I always keep my signature in mind so I tend to use my Eroll in public. Its not as much law enforcement I'm concerned about as it is the nanny-state callers and knowing the cops have to respond. It could be where I live but I don't think so. Some numb-nut called them about my dogs in the car with snow on the ground when I ran in to return movies. I vape other setups on the highway but in town its an Eroll.

Cops pulled my son over and looked and said "I hate them dam things" and drove off. My daughter's friend took her son to the hospital emergency for the flu and the nurse said she smells cigarette smoke on the child's cloths and if it happens again she will be forced to call in childrens aide on her.

I have 6 different sets of cops to deal with, Our citys, State Police, Sheriffs are fine, they know what they are and I have no problems with them. The other 3 are small sub-division towns inside our city. Now those guys are complete [MODERATED], and I dont vape when inside those areas. They are the type to pull you over if you go 1 over the speed limit. Thankfully I only go through two of those and rarely see any of those cops unless Im at starbucks.

It's more popular than you think in LEO circles. Several of my coworkers vape. I'm the only one more advances with an MVP and ibtanked, most use tobacco store cheapy ego stuff or Blu's. But they are aware of what they are so they aren't surprised when they run across them. Stopped a guy the other day (not for the vaping) and he had one of the cigar looking ones, pretty cool.

Ok guys here are a few tips

First. If a cop pulls you over or approaches you, film it! A cop is much leas likely to bot do something they arent supposed to if you have video proof. Remember that the police are not there to protect and serve you. They are there to make the state money and get an adrenaline rush. Here are a few things to remember.

"No officer i dont need to show you id."

"Are you detaining me?"

"If so then what for?"

"I do not consent to any searches or seizures."

Remember that vapor coming out of your car is not probable cause for search. Nor is carrying unlabeled ejuice or a pv illegal. The police do not have the authority to search you without probable cause. Nor do you have to wait for them to bring the k9 unit as that would be detaining you without evidence of a crime. Record the encounter and show it to your lawyer after.

I'm not the world's biggest LE fan, but doing all of that stuff you mention may just get you a ticket, or worse, when a cop may just want to let you off. What you should do when pulled over is to immediately roll your window down, and put both hands on top of the steering wheel in plain view and just be friendly. I have been let off on more tickets using this method than I can count. I was once pulled over for doing 110mph in a Porsche. I did just what I suggested, and immediately told the cop that I was acting a fool and just felt like opening it up. He took my license and registration. Ran it for warrants, and came back and told me that he was a car buff too and to just take it easy. No ticket or warning. He could have locked me up.

The trick is to not be a jerk about it. Theres a difference between bein a jerk and using your rights. And the cop wont give you a ticket if you get the encounter ON FILM. If you have it ON FILM, you can prove in court that you did nothing wrong. Cops take advantage of people every day. Dont be a victim

I kind of get your stance... *kind of* :) but....

Lol... I was in my 20's once too but not anymore and I have nothing to prove.

I'm a 'vapor' and proud of it.

I'm also a card carrying concealed weapons citizen.

If and when I get pulled over there are three things I give the officer - drivers license, proof of insurance and my concealed carry permit and when I do the first thing out of my mouth is "yes officer, I do have firearms in the car and on my person". This is out of respect. These men and women do us a great service whether you see that or not.

I dont have anything to prove. I just have a problem with being hassled for doing nothing wrong

All police cruisers are now equipped with cameras and the cops wear microphones.
