I have an evic and have upgraded the shell to s/steel one from pink-mule (awesome btw).
Any reason to upgrade to a provari from this?

If you'd like to take a step up from the eVic to a APV that has a higher voltage and power, (wattage), capability, without blowing a lot of $, you might consider a Tesla instead, (~$70-$80).

Personally, I wouldn't buy a Provari until they release an improved, updated unit. Imo, they're outdated in capability at this point, and not worth anywhere near the ~$150 Provapor is askin for em.

It depends on what you want. If you want a vv device that is super durable, extremely consistent, and warrantied for up to 2 years. Get a provari. It's track record speaks for it's self. I never regretted the purchase.

If you're happy with the evic keep using that. The provari won't give you a huge boost in performance from the evic, but if you've got the cash grab a provari and see for yourself.

I absolutely LOVE the eVic. The main attraction to the Provari is the build quality, which the eVic has been accused of being deficient in. If you have the newer eVic (the one with the two small screws in the drip well) a lot of that criticism is moot. I've dropped mine numerous times (some on concrete) and it just keeps on ticking. A year ago, the Provari was far and away the best thing going... I think the gap has closed significantly (just my $.02)

I thought the evic had VW?

Hhhhmmm....not sure I would agree that the Tesla is a step up from eVic. Old 33.3 chip, and I won't go into detail, because Phil does that for us:

Ok, OP, the eVic V2, the one where the head doesn't pop off when you knock it over, tearing out the lead connections, and requiring one to learn how to solder (yes, I'm that guy 4 times with 3 eVic's now), is a truly excellent device, for a lot of reasons. I've written about this many times during the Provari/eVic wars. The eVic has some known flaws, but also has some superior features to any other APV on the market. If you can overlook the flaws, then you may have the best APV out there. In part, it depends on what you will be using the device for. Since I use carto's all day long on my Provari, I almost never adjust anything. I don't need any new information. If I did, there's no better display in VapeWorld than the eVic. However, saying it's built like a tank is also not correct. It's built out of aluminum and plastic. I did read that you replaced your eVic with stainless steel. I love you for that. Mine has a Kir Fanis telescoping stainless tank with a flat top. Very nice. But not a tank. Tanks are not made of aluminum and plastic with a toggle ring, but the eVic is. Boy, I would love to see a picture of your eVic setup. That new tube is nice. Good for you.

Ok, rambling now, FOCUS, FOCUS....the Provari does not have ego threading, so if you are a Kanger bottom coil person (and come on, who isn't?), then the Provari is not well suited to that purpose. That aside, the Provari will give you rock, solid performance on every fire, from the first to the last. Many argue that an accurate variable voltage trumps an inaccurate variable wattage. I agree. The way I solved al of these problems was to buy both and use them in different applications. I never take the eVic out of the house, it is just too delicate. That's Provari work. If I am using a topper where I want/need to check resistance a lot, then I use the eVic at home even though it tops out at only 5 volts, so it is a bit underpowered. I do use both, and of my more than 20 different PV's, they are my two favorites, with a strong third by the Sigelei V3/V5.

So, yes you need a Provari, and an eVic, and if money allows, a Sigelei V3/V5, and, of course, the iTaste 3.0 for out and about. This crazy thinking, shared here for all to see, is how I ended up with a lot of gear. Different devices, different applications, many excellent in their own way, filling a specific niche. So, there you go, get both, don't worry. Be happy. My two cents.

I don't have an evic, but I have looked at them, and several other VV mods out there. They just don't seem to have the durability of the Provari. I wouldn't trust any to work after half what my favored Provari has endured. (I have 2 of them.) It's fallen off a roof, been dropped from horseback several times, fallen in the gut bucket while butchering meat animals a few times, got washed in the washing machine (that was a drunk mistake last night.) Still vaping it this morning.

The Provari is tough and, though there are others, less costly, that offer comparable or even better performance and features, I doubt they are the Timex of PVs like the Provari is.

Having a good bit of experience with both hands on. I would choose the Evic any day of the week. While I enjoyed the draw and build quality of the Provari.........for the feature set and display tech I also feel it is outdated. The evic also has a consistent draw and a LOT of info at a glance with a GREAT screen. For the price of the Provaria I would rather go with the eVic and a Kir Fanis tele SS tube. Just my opinion.

Yea yea, PBusardo hated it, but I love my Tesla. I also have a ProVari. It's all in how much you want to spend. For me, the Tesla works just the same as the Provari and I actually like the looks/feel better. Sure, the ProVari is built like a tank, but I've dropped my Tesla several times and the only thing that ever breaks are the threads off my Protank GRRRR! A family member wants a Tesla, and is having trouble finding them in stock anywhere right now tho.

My ONLY issue with the eVic (that was my first mod...I own a Provari, zmax mini, and a VV Reo Grande) is that there is a bit of a lag when you press the fire button...and even that only became an issue when I use mods that don't have the lag...when it was all I had it didn't bother me but now it kind of puts me off a little.

In terms of actual vaping experience, I feel like that is SO much more determined by your tank and delivery system... now that I have a couple of rebuildables that I can coil and wick myself, I am quickly losing my taste for the other clearos and cartos that I have amassed....but the mods still work just fine.

glad to see honest opinions instead of biased fanboy mine is better reviews. I am a proud evic owner looking into buying a provari. i love my evic but i want another option and i want a good one. from all i can tell there are good alternatives however i want this to be my last for a while. my evic is new running strong and while for now i am deployed in afghanistan i cannot take the time to experiment and learn with dripping. this will be when i get back and i hear nothing but good things from the provari fans in this department. I just think its good to see a good thread with very informative views!

Hindsight it always 20/20... I love my eVic but after only one week in, I'm swapping out my tube and top cap for a mini (18350) black and flat top black (eCa style) to reduce the adult toy-look of it... of course it comes down to preference on the looks, but functionally, I really like it...

It doesn't seem like the toughest unit, so I'm trying to find a good lanyard or a holster for it to keep it safe... Maybe a maglite holster???
