I finally did the firmware upgrade so I can use SS in TC. But now when I vape in TC using a SS coil on a dripper, the display goes blank. It's vaping great, but I have to click power button 3 times to get display back on. Then when I take another vape, the screen goes blank again. Like I said, it's vaping fine, I just can't see the display. Is this normal ?

Maybe, but I don't know how I put it in stealth mode, nor how to take out of stealth mode.

AND - just F.Y.I.

while IN STEALTH mode

a 'qwik' single stab of the Fire button, will show display
(just so you can check settings while in stealth mode)

:)

FYI: Received the "Spacer/Protectors" from ebay I referenced a couple pages ago. They are @ 0.5mm thick. Took 3 of them to snug up the STM fitment on the Evic Mini. Sizing is correct and adhesive good.
The Thickness is good as a Protector and these work fantastic in that Role.
But, for Spacer function, not thick enough IMO.

so you used 3 x 0.5mm=1.5mm and still a gap/wobble?

You folks made me take out my new TopTank STM, since I've yet to use it, testing the Cubis these days. Anyways, I did notice the gap when screwed onto the VTC Mini, but it only took ONE .5mm disk to make a flush connection. I like to use at least one "mod saver" disk on every mod anyways. Obviously both the Joyetech branded Cubis and Tron tanks sit flush on their own VTC product.

Do you have the RBA head for the Cubis?

After the above, I may have assumed wrongly as to the thickness. Maybe they are 0.25mm thick but Yes,,,, I used 3 of these and it fits nice, flush, snug, and no "wobble".
As I switch Atties on the Evic every now and then, I stuck/attached the Discs to the Evic as opposed to the STM.

Using SS 316 coil on my Troll. Single, spaced coil, .74 ohm. Evic set on 26 W, 350 deg F The Protection keeps coming up when I'm trying to vape. It was working perfectly for a couple of hours, now, every time I hit the "go" button nothing happens b/c it's protecting. There is plenty of liquid in/on the coil. I really want to like temp control, but it seems like every time I try it, this same issue comes up. I tried with Ni200, several months ago, went back to Kanthal, Power mode for this very issue. I was really hoping this time, I could get down with TC. Please help, if you can. Thanks.

The SS you choose will depend on the gauge you're looking for. If you're happy with the coil geometry you're using now, stick with it. Heat flux basically stays the same with geometry, regardless of wire type. In other words, if you're currently building with 26g wire, choose a SS wire available in 26g. I believe hat leaves 430 out, as we've only found a supplier of 28g. 316(L) is available in all the usual vaping gauges (22-30). UD has picked up on the SS craze and is packaging 316L. I'm not sure of 304 availability in the States. If you don't mind waiting, Fasttech has quite the selection of 316 & 304 now. Good luck!
