350 might just be a tad low. maybe it was working before because the evic did initially read the coil's resistance too high. now it has refined itself and protecting correctly.
350 is pretty low, try to go higher until you like the output. i'm @~450F/22W on most of my atties

Tried your suggestion. upped the temp, and lowered Watts. Still keeps protecting me from vaping. Pulled rda off, pulled batt off. Put it all back together and still not letting me vape.

What is the TCR M1 mode? It's letting me vape in that mode
The M1 mode is set to 120 stock you have to turn the mod off hold the righ or up button and fire button together for a few seconds and it will come up with the TCR settings then you go to the setting and put it at what you want. Then wait till it turns off and turn the mod back on and the M1 will be at what you have set.

sorry to hear that, steelgirl.

trying in tcr-mode isn't a bad idea. I find my Ti-wire to vape "better" with TCR than with Ti.

However you should set the proper, lower TCR for your wire or else the temperature you set will be way off (higher than set).
The TCR for your wire should be somewhere around 87-90 according to steamengine.
Try to fiddle with that using the method 2legsshrt described above.

Good luck :)

PS: Running into Protection eventually while still having a good vape is not a bad thing.
Running into protection while NOT vaping but just looking at the mod is normal. You're generating airflow while vaping that cools the coil which is missing by just looking at it.
However, it should give you a satisfying vape before protecting you (from burnt cotton). Don't be shy to up that temp; if you say at the stock-120 TCR the vape is fine, your temp is probably 25-35% higher (hotter) than what you set it to. (this is just a roughly guessed number, the wire-tcr-buffs here may correct me :) )

ok, got the tcr set to 88. I set temp to 400f. Will I still be in protection from dry hit in this mode? I guess I'll find out in a few puffs, won't I :)

Thank you... I had no idea about that option, nor what it is. I still don't but, at least now I know how to adjust it.

Using SS 316 coil on my Troll. Single, spaced coil, .74 ohm. Evic set on 26 W, 350 deg F The Protection keeps coming up when I'm trying to vape. It was working perfectly for a couple of hours, now, every time I hit the "go" button nothing happens b/c it's protecting. There is plenty of liquid in/on the coil. I really want to like temp control, but it seems like every time I try it, this same issue comes up. I tried with Ni200, several months ago, went back to Kanthal, Power mode for this very issue. I was really hoping this time, I could get down with TC. Please help, if you can. Thanks.

Have you tried snugging up the terminations? Sometimes the screws will back out a bit while heating and cooling. Check for hot legs as well. They could put the build into early protection. If all else fails, throw a new coil in and give it another go.

Thanks for the suggestion Aldenf... A screw WAS loose. I put mod back into SS mode and it is working properly again.

Yep FF is right. 350 is really low. I have no experience with SS but with Ti in Ti mode the mini is off I have to use about 480F-500F or if I use TCR mode set it to 375 the TCR for Ti is 366 then I can vape at 420-430. I would imaging if I set the TCR to 366 it would be the same as the Ti mode which is what I use, just use a higher temp.

You just sort of have to match the wattage to the desired temperature, or I just let TP do it's thing. It doesn't bother me when TP engages, it let's me know it's definitely at temperature.
Agree. I rather use an higher wattage and let tp kick in than use a lower wattage with longer ramp up time to reach desired temp

I set Single-Coil Ti built Bellus in Manual TCR (370), Watts at 24 and Temp at 440* F and she purrs along quite nicely & tastily.
Same Settings for an STM w/RBA Ti-Built (same Coil Specs as my Bellus) and it performs equally fantastic.
Those are the only 2 of my RTAs I have mated to the Evic mini to report.

Not ventured into the world of SS yet. Saving that for when/if ever tire of Ti (which is highly doubtful).

P.s. I experience no "issue" with Ramp-Up Lag or any dissatisfaction from such.

i like my ti too. elemental in this case is the way to go. i'm doing 7 wraps of 24 ga 2.6 id at 22.6 W and it heats up very quick, tp kicks in and out and it's great!

Anyone happen to see Busardos review on the Kayfun Mini V3? He used a VTC mini to use it on TC although I don't think he got much of a vape with his Grade 2 Ti in Ti mode at 75w 410F. I had to kind of laugh. But it does go to show that this little mod is pretty damned good for Mr DNA fanboy to use.

Disastrous first ride with the VTC mini this weekend.

Using the Cubis and a SS 1 ohm coil, with M1 set to 138 (500f/25watts), at first (1 sec) I was getting an ok vape that would start pulsing within 1 second or so. Not sure but if that's what TC does under normal conditions, it might not be for me. After trying this for a little with same results, I tried it @ 500/35. It then got pretty anemic. tried the regular SS setting as well and got super anemic vape.

After trying this at different settings for a while, I was set to give up for the night and go back to VW. I took off the tank, reset the VTC to 17 watts and ran the 1ohm SS coil. After about 5 or 6 drags, I got the worst burnt hit I've personally ever had. Figuring that the coil might have gotten funky, I put in the Cubis Clapton coil. Same thing - worst burnt hit ever. Took the Cubis off and put it on the istick TC 40 I have and it was fine. Vaped that for the rest of the night.

Next day, I thought I'd try it again so I put the Clapton Cubis (1.5 ohm) on the VTC (in VW) and it was fine but getting burny. I was thinking it may be a wicking thing so I focused on that. I did notice that there weren't any bubbles coming up so I unscrewed the top of the Cubis tank and a bunch of bubble emerged. Screwed it back, no bubbles. Unscrewed it after a few hits, bubbles.

So the wicking was an issue. But only on the VTC mini. This did not happen on the TC 40. I'm stuck as to why it would happen only on the VTC and no other mod I have but it did. I did try to push the pin down thinking it might be that but it didn't change a thing.

I'm thinking I may just stick with VW and the isticks. Maybe TC isn't for me.
