Buddy of mine is having the anemic vape issue on an Egrip II & trying to help him out. With early firmware on the VTC when I had this issue I would remove atty, pull battery, reinstall battery, press fire, install atty & get new coil prompt so the unit could calibrate to the proper cold resistance of the atty & fix the issue.

I have tried giving him several procedures to force the new coil prompt on the Egrip II and he is not getting it to come up. Tried pressing reset to simulate battery pull, swapping to coils of different resistance, removing coil & pressing fire but can't force the prompt. Assuming that this is due to Firmware update version changes in he series.

What procedure do you guys use on the VTC when you are having these miscalibration issues to get the VTC to forget the previously stored profile resistance and force a new coil prompt to re-calibrate the atty in the latest update version these days to solve anemic vape issues?

Hmmmm usually I will unlock the resistance, remove the atty and screw it back in.
Fire it and it will prompt new coil prompt and then I will just lock the new resistance and it will be ok.

Thanks for your thoughts, Jim.
Sounds like just "bells and whistles" to me.

Barring reviews saying they've eliminated any of the issues we've seen (anemic vape, falling res)... I'd agree. Clock is nice, more colors are good, but I haven't rushed to buy one yet.

Hell, I haven't put the last update on my early model. Working just fine.

BUG

Firmware: 3.03
Coil: 1.44 Ohm NiChr80
Temp: 420° (also tested with different temp)
TC: M1 011 (also tested with different value)
Wattage: 12W (also tested with different wattage)

When firing it sends 30W to the coil disregarding both max wattage and temp limit (it does NOT jump out of TC mode)

Yeah, I've tried NiCr as well, same TCR... doesn't work.
I don't recall it firing at 30w, but then I don't recall the build I was trying.

If that part bears out, it's an oddity. But I wouldn't go so far as to call it a Bug.
The current JTech TC mods don't do NiCr TC. It's just too small of a res rise to track.
Can't fault them for not doing something they're not supposed to be able to do.

Only a couple of maker's mods do actually... to a degree (no pun intended).

Try it with a normal TC wire at that res. See if riding the line of the upper limit might be what's causing the wattage effect. Then you'd have caught a BUG. ;)

It is a bug as I ran it within the supported specs. Both resistance and TCR value wise. I don't expect it to be very accurate but disregarding wattage limit should not happen regardless of the wire type.

Has anyone actually successfully ran TC within 1.0 - 1.5 Ohm? If so please state wire material & resistance and max wattage setting.

Absolutely... but not by much.
I have a couple 430s and a 316 all just north of 1.1 at the moment.
But they're the highest I've run, not near enough to determine any hidden bugs near the limit.

If you experience the wattage hit with SS, Ti or Ni... I'd call it a bug.
But I don't know if I've seen any ad copy saying it will TC that low of a TCR.
In fact... the JT PDF I just found specifies the range only down to 80... for SS.

https://www.joyetech.us/teamimages/e-cigarette/evic-vt-mini/How to use TCR.pdf

It's simply not accurate enough to be capable of NICr or Kanthal TC.
Many besides us have tried, no surprise. Would have been cool. :D
But we can't fault them for it not working. It's not expected to.

When firing it won't make a phone call. Or coffee. There is also no vapor!

my evic mini is on its death throws. it randomly shuts off, firing button randomly becomes unresponsive/non functional.
paint is flaking off and it looks like s h i t, magnets came off from mod body.
tried different batteries and its becoming a hassle to use.
its my dd at about 20-30mls/day, vape under 40 watts and under 350 to 450 tc, well depending on its mood i have to adjust tc to get a consistent vape.
will not be buying a second evic of any kind unless i know its built better than the mini.

I'm sorry you have had issues with your Evic. How long have you had this? My wife has one that she got about 7 months ago and there's a few very small chips along the bottom corners, but nothing like your mod. I did have to glue one of the magnets back on, but other than that, it's still working perfectly. -knocks on wood-

back in the day... I used to use a product called "Zip-Strip" to remove paint off of car bodies
you'd wipe it on, let it sit, then the paint would bubble and flake off

this is the same effect eJuice has on a lot of the paint coatings on our mods (my experience)

kinda along the same vain as a "tank cracker" juice

I for the most part, DON'T allow this to happen to my mods, but 'juice happens'
and I have spots on mods here-n-there...

MIGHT explain detaching the glue from the magnets ???

I don't that like I've heard many comments about the hit-n-miss random Fire Button
I have a newer VTwo mini , wonder if the new colors add any better quality to the surface coating ?

bought it dec 2015, hardly ever dropped it, vape 90% indoors, paint started bubbling/peeling/flaking on its own months ago.
if the damn fire button worked consistently i could live w/the crap paint job and both magnets not embedded in the mod

Are you mainly dripping on it? Just curious.

I've been getting a few phantom button presses lately. Not often - just a few. Maybe one every couple or three days? Hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Same thing happened on mine with the magnets and super glue worked better than I hoped. It's been my main mod everywhere I was since it came out and it's also been through a lot of use like vencom's, I would've uploaded a photo if I had a way now, but I would buy a second one if the finish would've been better because everything works fine with a bit of cleaning with a paper towel and some alcohol now and then
