Hi, I bought an Evic VTC Mini and upgraded the firmware to the latest one (v3.0). I'm using the Ni 0.2ohm coil and it looks like it reaches the Temp Protection way too quickly (less than 1sec). The resistance is being read correctly (0.2ohms), but if I vape 3-4 times (low vapour), unscrew the atty and screw it back again and have the device read the resistance "wrong", since it's reading it slightly higher (0.26ohms), only then it will work correctly. I've read around a few other places that some people have the same issue, but haven't found a solution. Is there any? :(

PS: I just checked the ambient temperature on the device (cliked 10 times on fire button) and it states 36ºC, which seems a little bit WAAAAY too high, my room is definitely not even close to that temperature (probably ~18ºC in here). So, it seems that the misreading of the ambient temp is causing erratic behaviour, anyone knows anything about this, any solution?

Thank you!
normal if if using it, even if not as chip always create heat when on, even in idle state just like a pc but 36c would be high if it was sitting idle w/out charging.
mine is 25c on idle sitting for awhile in a 20c room temp
it shouldnt generate any heat when completely off but depends on accuracy of heat sensor.

edit. while charging it goes to 36c

edit. charging and vaping simultaneously 39c at 30w

TIA
when at c just use + or - until it stops and click the + or - as u used previous one more time to get into f mode.

It round robins. Just keep adjusting the temp up or down and you'll get from Celsius to Farenheit or vice versa.

Put the expanded firmware directory on a thumb drive, take a trip to your local Best Buy (or similar) and "test" a new computer under the guise that you need to make sure its USB is compatible with some "special devices" that you're "building an app for."

They'll be too impressed to turn you away.

Explain that the test will only take a moment and doesn't require installing anything on the demo PC.

Launch the .exe directly from the USB drive.

That sound like a good idea, may try that. Don't think it will work but it sounds like it is worth a shot.

it seems like u tried the usual connection ts.
tell shop its not software problem if mod hardware wont connect to any pc.
it seems theyre too lazy to bother w/warranty from distributor.
which shop did u buy it from.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is with their assumption that it is software related. The shop is a reputable one too... Sun Vapers. I have spent a lot of money with them. I may just bring to them, my original contact method with them was via email, but I bought it at the shop. Maybe they will be more helpful in person.

Well, I'm not quite sure - the answers were a lil confusing ;) Something like "ring around the rosey" or something like that :D

I just tested the mods built in Titanium setting versus the custom SteamEngine TCR of "03660". Much nicer vape, warmer as to be expected if the mods setting is lower. Next I'm going to add a custom TCR OF "03550", which is kinda a known titanium value, and then compare vapes. I'll be back, unless I start to see tons of baby photos in this thread....

In DJlsb vapes' test of the new firmware the temperatures seem to be spot on though.

anyone happen to know the wire gauge in the 1.0 CLR coil and the diameter? trying to figure out what SS wire gauge i need for 1.0 ohm with 7-8 wraps.

30awg SS304 would give you a 1Ω coil at the preferred 2.5mm diameter, with a 7/8 wrap.

wow i was going to get 28ga SS. huge difference from kanthol, on one of my other devices, 30ga kanthol, 2.5mm 6 wraps gives 1.8ohms

SS has roughly 1/2 the resistance of Kanthal A1, depending on the grade of SS.

If I were you, I would do a SS 304 28awg, 2.5mm, 7/8 wrap at 0.7Ω

Funny, but I just watched that video, along with his 90 minute video of the DNA200 board. I don't know what temp sensor he uses, or how accurate his spreadsheets are, but I'll continue to experiment with the built in titanium settings, versus adding a custom TCR. That's what makes this a FUN device, for about $50, you get to play with the big boy DNA200 mods. I, like some others, mainly reviewers, really call out these TC mod makers to simply publish the "TCR NUMBERS YOU USE ON THE MOD"! It's not proprietary or some trade secret.

How do I switch the USA from Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Only the Bahamas, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Palau and the United States use Fahrenheit.

Then there is the Metric System... ahhh, the Metric System... only the United States, Liberia, and Myanmar (Burma) don't use the Metric System. Great company we have there.
