Quite a task sliding out the screen ribbon from the board.
It's been a long time since I've ripped mine apart, but there's a tiny hole/opening in the ribbon cable I've used with a toothpick to help with re-installing for sure. To remove I raise the board slightly while using that same toothpick under and across the cable to pull it out evenly.

    That's what I did with a dental pick. ;)
If I can find a female section of that header strip, I'll connect it to the board with wire wrap wire and leave it under the plate. I don't expect to have to connect it to eScribe again but one never knows.

Famous last words! I spent a fair amount of time, trying to get my BB theme just rite.
After not that long, I wished I would have done things just a bit different :( Lets face it, E-Scribe'ing dna Chips is an on going thing!

A permanent solution would be nice, the new BB clones have a usb board in them. There is enough room for sure, the usb board isn't very big. If only they sold the back door with the usb hole precut in, it would be a snap :)

Troll, your's has an after market Back door? Maybe "Albert" Could have one made with a USB hole?

Would be pricey from the #TRVPMaster Albert, he has a BB Vapes brand 18350 mech dropping soon. ;)

Does the SXK use the dna 60 charge board? Would they have put a cutout in the side of the case as well? I could take my switch plate up to the local machine shop and have a notch milled for the charge board if the case is unmodified. :thumb:

Yes, only the clones! Authentic's don't have it :( The machine shop route may be costly also :( We can hope SXK makes a retro fit one, but it's very unlikely, I'm sure they would rather you buy another clone!
I bet if the back door with the Precut USB hole did exist it would sell rapidly :)

I only mentioned Albert, cause He makes an after market Back door.
He does it for his Branding, witch TBH I could care less about!
If it had the usb holes? it would be a different story, also seeing as the Authentic's are all missing the USB, there may be some folks who would be willing to pay for it?

I've had lots of experience fine tuning my 75 theme so it was just a load the config

    Thats You!
I did a pretty good job also :) Just saying, it would be nice If we didn't have to jump thru hoops to connect, is all. I know I would make a few changes to mine now, if I could just plug in easy :)

My question would still be, how to mount the board so there's pressure for when you plug in the cable, plus we all know there's not much room in there.
Maybe "Albert" Could have one made with a USB hole?
You think that guy sleeps? I sorta got a few (I think all he had) with cutout from him, but they're all Blue and brand new, maybe the USB is not in a good spot? I haven't tried due to that mounting.

That's what I'd like to see as well

I don't have a newer version of the SXK clone, but I have read post about them & it charges & connects to E-Scribe :) SXK BILLET BOX V4 STYLE DNA 60 WITH USB PORT

So you're saying you have an after market back door with a USB hole cut in to it, in Blue Only? I would be interested in acquiring one of those, even if the colour does not match any of my BB's

Guys, drill and file your own USB port holes, it's not that hard and if I can do it so can you! Get some scrap stock and practice, you'll be surprised how easy it is. The mods I made from stock hammon boxes, I used a pin vise and new sharp drill bits and drilled the holes by hand, takes only a few minuets to hand drill soft aluminum or be careful and use a hand drill. Once I had the holes I moved to miniature machinist files and just filed away the magic marker layout, checking the fit with a USB port often. Just make the hole oval, doesn't have to be 100% perfect, no one is going to inspect it under a magnifying glass!

The big screen holes I did use a hand drill.

The switch plate where the USB port would go on my Billet Box is 1/4" thick stainless steel. I wouldn't even attempt to try and cut that by hand.
