What if you disable it here:

Windows will re enables that service automatically.

Yup exactly. You disable it and the very next day at some random time, Microsoft will toggle it back on again. I've been turning it back off again everyday for months, trying to figure out what trips it. And all I know after all of this time that it checks it once daily at random times.

Something you might want to do is to block the update sites on your router or with a DNS proxy like Acrylic. The Windows Hosts file will not take wildcard entries so that is why you need a DNS proxy.

Interesting!

Just point all of these to 127.0.0.1 and your updates will stop.

Code:
windowsupdate.microsoft.com
*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
*.update.microsoft.com
*.windowsupdate.com
download.windowsupdate.com
download.microsoft.com
*.download.windowsupdate.com
test.stats.update.microsoft.com
ntservicepack.microsoft.com

I tried this before and it didn't work. Although I didn't know about this one:
  • test.stats.update.microsoft.com
Maybe that is how they were still getting in. I also blocked two more that wasn't in your list:
  • wustat.windows.com
  • *.mp.microsoft.com
Oh and instead of using 127.0.0.1, I use 0.0.0.0. Had something to do with speed issues in the way Microsoft changed how it handled the TCP loopback interface. Although COMODO antivirus, Homer Webserver and System Mechanic which seems to have issues with "0.0.0.0". So you have to use 127.0.0.1 then.

Remember there is no place like 127.0.0.1. :D

So I just learned of such a thing last night. Luckily I bought the standard 3157 bulb for a standard socket. So if you plug in a LED bulb in the wrong socket you get a dead short because both negative leads on the LED bulb go to the same spot on the bulb's circuit board.

And a question I had yesterday as to how the white light went out completely when the amber side, turn signal. came on. That is done by the circuit board in the bulb, hence the name "switchback".
BTW, I didn't learn it the hard way like I usually do.

There's a grocery store less than a block away from where I work that I frequent right before I start work. I think I have seen toilet paper once or twice in the last couple months or so and just small packages. Usually the isle is completely bare but last night it looked the same as before the TP shorted. I was able to buy the size package that I use to get, 36 double rolls. I guess everyone went to the beach yesterday.

What is wrong with some people . Although I will admit to having one odd DIY concentrate which will remain nameless. I think the person's a Canucker, but who knows. Made me wanna puke.

I saw that one, but didn't open it and read any of the comments. I can't even imagine what the comments said. I remember somebody years ago looking for a juice that tasted like steak. And later I found out there are some meat flavorings. And on YT somebody sampled one of the meat flavorings and they said it tasted horribly. Well I can't imagine anything more.

Windows 10 - KB4556799 is killing PC's again

From the Forbes article:

05/26 Update: KB4556799 continues to cause chaos, but action is being taken by PC makers to try and mitigate it. First up is HP, which has released patch for BSOD and boot loop issues on its PCs caused by KB4556799.

Called 'HP Software Component 4.1.4.3079', it has been pushed to Windows 10 Update and affected users should install it as soon as possible. Microsoft has already confirmed it is "investigating" the problems caused by KB4556799 and I would expect more patches from both Microsoft and PC manufacturers to arrive soon. In the meantime, stay away from this update.

This pic is from over yonder, and yes I posted a pic of Steamer's screen over there.
The fellow over yonder asked how liquid got into the screen, here was my answer:
"While I don't know just how liquid got inside of the screen I consider this to be the way, liquid was present along the edge of the screen. The screen was warm, as the screen cooled the liquid was drawn inside."

Tomorrow you can download Windows 10 Version 2004 via the Media Creation Tool. Good luck to all of you unpaid beta testers!
Or get the update today from Windows Update to bring your 1903/1909 to 2004

They predicted that the masses would get it soon, but I didn't think this soon. Media Creation Tool allowed you to get it earlier today. I already heard of reports that Windows Logon is gone. So you have to logon to your MS account online. No Internet, no Windows 10. :( Hopefully those reports were just from an earlier build.

I believe I figured out where the setting is why it resets it once a day. Here in Properties...

It used to say 1 day and 1 minute. The highest value you can put in is 9999 days which is 27 years. So far it has stayed Disabled. Hopefully it will stay there for 27 more years. :D

Well it is not as easy to get as I thought, they are releasing it with just a trickle of availability. I have bee running 2004 for about a month on two machines that I got from the development program. That leaves two machine that will update to 2004.....when they feel like it I guess.

That Dell Optiplex 9030 AIO that I have for sale on Craigslist for $200 is the most powerful computer that I have CPU wise. It is a really good working computer.
I am considering putting in a 2 Tb SSD and keeping it. It uses a 2.5 hard drive and a laptop DVD burner but has a desktop processor.
Or I could replace the computer in the living room that nobody uses much with it.
Maybe at my work it could get a job.
I was trying to figure out where I could put that 50" plasma in my office for use with the security system but my office is not much more than a broom closet (size wise)
I have not had so much as a nibble on it from Craigslist.
