If it doesn't feel loose, check that the wicking is touching every wrap. Any space anywhere will cause it to pop. But that isn't the only reason for popping.

How tiny is that ID? Unless it is like 2mm or less, I can't imagine tearing in half, unless it is the quality of cotton. Cotton has always been easier for me. Since it compresses and expands very easily. Rayon not so much. Plus Rayon tastes like pulp cellulose to me. The cotton I use is Japanese organic cotton that is unbleached and even has the cotton seeds in it. I never found the seeds effect anything if you pick them out or not.
Are you sure that's not boll weevil turds?

Yes cotton balls tears very easy and has been treated with lots of chemicals.
So I dug out a CVS sterile cotton ball and unrolled it. I then used to same procedure that I use when rolling a rayon wick, It seemed very much the same whether rayon or cotton as to pulling apart length wise. Both pretty strong.

Spaced coils always give a nasty first fire pop for me where contact coils never do.
I haven't made spaced coils on a regular basis since the silica days. I have plenty of silica of various varieties here yet. Gee I miss all those little shards of glass all over the atty deck from cutting it.

I still have two envelops of hollow Ekowool. I wonder how that would work with salts? I haven't used it since the Titanium Mods Prometey. That was a fine RTA, shoelace style wick up to the filler material in the top section. :thumb:

Funny story. I mixed up a batch of LNW Cappuccino and the last thing I added was the VG. So I grabbed my VG 500ml bottle and poured it into a 120ml bottle. While pouring and watching the scale, I noticed it poured way too thin for VG. It was as thin as PG. I checked the bottle again and it said VG for sure. That is weird. Put the cap on the 120ml bottle and I went to shake it and I noticed the air bubble moved really quick through the liquid just like PG.

Then it dawned on me. I had one bottle of PG 100mg nic in a liter plastic bottle that fell out of the freezer on the basement cement floor a couple of months ago. It looked okay and I tossed it back in there. A week later I opened the freezer and 100mg nic all over everything. The cap cracked in half and it had black electrical tape on the cap so I couldn't see it. About 40% of it was still in the bottle.

So I grabbed the biggest empty bottle I had. And you guessed it, it was an empty 500ml VG bottle and poured it in. I knew it was the VG bottle on the left. And that I should label it before I forget. Well I guess I forgot.

Well I don't have fancy stuff like mikepetro has for testing nic percentage. And did I really make a batch of almost no VG super high strength nic LNW Cappuccino? One way to find out I guess. I put a drop of it on my Zeus X Mesh and taken a vape. Like always, vaping from a Zeus X Mesh is always smooth. Then a second afterward I thought it was good except for the high PG. Then when the next second passed, the nicotine hit.

OMG! That is nowhere near the 6mg I vape. I felt like I was chain vaping for 10 minutes straight. Which I have done by the way. Now I was lead to believe for years that freebase nic was really slow to react. Salt nic is faster I've heard, but smoking was the fastest for getting nic quickly. I now know this is all untrue. If freebase is the slowest, it is less than a second slower.

Well no harm done. I can salvage that 120ml bottle and make about 14 other 120ml bottles of LNW Cappuccino from the nic alone. I got to tell ya, the hardest part for me of quitting smoking and on to vaping was that need for that morning cigarette. Now if I had a Zeus X Mesh and 100mg juice back then, it would have been like 95% easier. One puff then back to normal mg for the rest of the day. :D

On yes, you better believe I did dust off my label maker and I labeled everything in sight.

So here is ,part of at least, where I was messing up on these BF RTA coils. The coil needs to be pretty low between the posts so I was mounting them with the legs rolling off the top of the coil. With the shaft in place I would position them downward to where that I wanted them. This would cause the first loop on each end of the coil to "loosen up" (for lack of a better word). Positioning them with the legs rolling off the bottom and pushing it down with the shaft in place tightens up the entire coil and still ends up where I want it. Elementary I know.....DUH

Edit: But still pops with the first fire of a cold coil. Maybe after it gunks up a little it will stop.
Edit again: After about 5 hits or so the popping has stopped, at least for the moment.
