?????? and when did google maps turn female? o_O
It's always had a feminine voice on my phone.

I always thought Alexa was Amazon, not Google, but I'll give my brother Bill a solid pass, due to such a mighty fine coffee this a.m :thumb::banana:

I have never heard the 'speech' of Alexa, Google maps, Cortana or Siri - I could not even hazard a guess as to which of the fifty-seven genders these are.

The famous voice behind Google maps is of Karen Jacobsen who is an Australia-born and New York-based entertainer, singer, motivational speaker, voice-over artist, and songwriter. Know more about her at - The GPS Girl | Recalculate... - a website dedicated to Karen.

The original voice of GrandCentral and Google Voice belonged to actress and voice-over artist, Laurie Burke [1], but has been replaced with recordings by Kiki Baessell, a Googler who had no experience in professional voice-overs, but was chosen because of her pleasant, familiar voice.

The voice of Alexa, the virtual assistant developed by Amazon, is provided by Nina Rolle, a Colorado-based voiceover artist, according to a new book.
