Your focus is understandably a bit narrow, but it is assumed that is a coffee pot on the table in the foreground waiting to be poured.

In hindsight, and Mike's defence ...... I didn't notice that there was even a table.

What kind of life span are you guys getting from your coils? I have to replace mine in my mizer's every 6-7 days and when I change them they are gunked pretty good, I could keep on vaping em longer but I can't stand a crappy tasting vape. My builds are dual ni200, six wraps spaced, 3mm ID coming in about .03 ohms wicked with rayon. I run them on DNA's at temps from 420-480 F, I start out on the lower end and as time passes I have to slowly increase the temp to get the same amount of vapor.

It's the same life span I got with the UD Zephyrus using they're ni200 pre-built coils made with cotton, only difference between my coils and those is they used cotton and they came in at half the ohms because they were made in series, both coils wrapped on one piece of wire.

I see people saying they have coils lasting much longer, I know there is a lot of factors involved including the juice but I don't know how they can get double or triple the life in a similar setup, if they are I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong.

I get 3-6 weeks, but that is predominantly with unflavored nic. I am using rayon for my wicks, and I do give them a rinse under a slow drip of water when I note that the flavor is off, it rinses pure white in seconds.

I use to vape flavorless nic, did that for about eight months at one time and yes, the coils lasted a very long time. That was back when I was using ego twist battery's and little clearo's, even though I drilled out the air holes, I don't know how I ever vaped something that was like sucking ice cream through a straw LoL.

I'm not complaining about the life I get, just wondering if I'm doing something wrong? I use to hate building, now I can rebuild a setup in about five minuets and enjoy it.

Willie, I don't count days but can tell you I get about 200ml through an Aromamizer before I need to rebuild. The big problem is that taste is so darn subjective and varies widely so what's acceptable to me might taste like crap to you and vice versa. I'm using liquids with about 2.5% ethyl maltol and some with no sugars that I am aware of, so the ones with sugar do gunk up faster.

I've got an FEV4 I use on an Invader Mini and know, for a fact, that it has at least 100ml on it since the last rebuild and it only gets liquid with EM in it. It is gunked, one of the advantages of an FEV is that you can examine the coil, conveniently, with each refill, but is certainly doesn't need a rebuild, yet, IMHO.

I'm using Ti and SS316L coils in everything, now, and don't really notice a difference in terms of gunking. They do gunk far less than kanthal, though, and I attribute that more to TC than coil materials.

Really? If I only got 200ml out of a set of coils I'd quite vaping. With rayon I rewick every 100ml or so with clean low sweetener level juices. Can't imagine rebuilding after 2 wickings.

I'm using rayon and don't rewick or dry burn at all, just rebuild when it goes south. I actually rebuild my tanks on a two to three month cycle.

Wille, another thing I meant to mention is that vaping style gets involved as well. I end up rebuilding my wifes' tanks about every month an a half. She's a tootle puffer and has a habit of holding the fire button in between two medium length hits. That leaves the coils working with no, appreciable, air flow in between those hits. That, in turn, leads to faster gunking. I've been trying to train myself to keep drawing after I let off the fire button to mitigate gunking in my own stuff, but haven't been too successful...old habits die hard.

    Yeah, I don't dry burn coils or rinse wicks, when the wick is done I rebuild. Looks like I have a few things going against me for getting longevity from coils;
I only vape two setup's with two flavors, mizer's on DNA's, both tobacco, one a plain dry tobacco and the other is a slightly sweet and very complex tobacco, Uncle Junk's Jon Wayne. Love that Jon Wayne, if I could inject it right into my veins I would...... hmmm.... :?:
I chain vape, unless I'm working on something that needs both hands I'll have a mod in one, the coil never gets "cold" until I set it down and switch to my other mod/flavor or I'm sleeping.
Lastly I guess I'm spoiled, I want every pull to be as flavorful and full of vapor as pulls on a fresh build. I'm not buying coil heads anymore, finally have got building down pat and efficient so why have a sub-par vape? I hate drinking left over coffee too, rather dump it and make a fresh pot. :)

I use hot tap water and a toothbrush to clean my Ni200 coils. I can get most of the gunk off and a coil will last me a few months. I've been dry burning my SS coils (fire until they just start to glow) and those coils last about the same but I've been trying different builds so I build new coils before they really need it. I rewick every couple of weeks or so but I have about 12 mods/atomizers in rotation. I also vape various juices. The fruit flavors last the longest with sweet/dark needing new wicks within a few tanks.

It's much faster/easier for me to rewick and clean the old coil than to build a new coil.

Although it is blasphemy, I can confirm that using the Hohmtech Slice in Kanthal TC I am getting about the same coil life on a Kanthal coil as I would expect to get on a Ti or SS coil. Claptons do drop off a bit over use as they will gunk over, but it is more so the employment of TC and type of juice than it is the coil materials themselves.
