Is it too late to add "also have a bespoke artisinal septum piercing" to my last post? :)

I get by with being 46, using a single wire single coil, being hard as ...., and most importantly of all, simply not smoking...

But you do you :)

With the newer larger deck single coil attys like the Merlin and the Ammit, etc, I have begun to value claptons. I can get the same vape out of a single coil clapton that I was getting out of the dual coil Aromamizer.

Still trying to decide which climb has the better view.......

This however will NEVER be worth the climb, I'll just wait for the movie.....

I had respect for you until just now [emoji14]

I'm a low temp temp control fiend, so for me a Clapton is just a mass of wire that spits and takes forever to ramp up because I'm not putting the required watts into it to make it work efficiently...or vaporise the juice efficiently

I tried a Clapton once...once...tfv4 with RCA deck..with factory fitted Clapton, it lasted exactly 5 minutes before I ripped it out and put in my standard 7/8 wrap 26g 3mm I'd single coil...ahh there's my bliss....:)

I should be in possession of my serpent SMM early next week, and it will never host a Clapton. I'm sure that would annoy someone.....I just need to find them now and send them pics of my build constantly :)

To each their own vape.

For the last year I have been running dual 3mm 26g TI coils, and rather liked it.

With the DNA, which is all I ever use (mostly DNA200s), claptons work fine if you set the preheat right. I do 360f to 420f generally, and with preheat it will put out some high watts for the first few milliseconds, so you get that instant hit but it still controls at the set temp.

Hehe, you poor poor man....because youve managed to mention my only bugbear other than coil porn...preheat on a TC mod...first thing I changed when I first got a dna200...set to off..no point on a single wire single coil build...all it did for me was flash cook me precious juice :), but I'll grant your reasoning for your application! :)

I'm willing concede I'm the weird one in all of this :(

Also I only vape unflavoured

Plus I have teddy bear called Crispin who I take out with me for coffee with friends, or shopping or really just because it freaks people out..fully grown 46yo aspie walking down the street clutching a bear and blowing clouds...sounds like good people to me...

That's my full confession....you deserve to know who you're dealing with :)

Anyways, enjoyed the to and fro, off to sleep for moi, gave a good one. Have to get up in a few hours, it's my birthday, and I've decided to share my birthday with the bear, I thought we'd get up and go for breakfast at Macca's, make some early morning folk feel uncomfortable...if the bear plays his cards right I'll buy him a happy meal :)

Happy Birthday!

And "normal" is overrated, and boring. So embrace your bear, no judgement here.......

Personally I like the warm blooded teddy bears myself, and they seldom call me "normal".......

$20-$30 a coil is beyond what I am willing to invest. I will acquire the skill if I value the vape quality that much.
I know, I've bought whole spools of the stuff for less than $5

Also, on the whole clapton thing, I do think that they're worth it, *as long as* you're not spending too much time on them and getting all frustrated... unless that's your thing... The way I'm doing it now, I can do anything up to fused pretty much hands free. Staggered fused I still have to do one handed to hold the spacer and then keep the fused part on track.

To me the vape is worth it, but when it's not worth it is when youre doing it in a way that spending an hour making about a foot, screwing up countless length of wire trying to just get one that's vapeable etc.

I accept the initial waste as part of the learning curve, especially when I saw the waste reduce rapidly with experience.

OK, so is a "staggered" clapton that much different (in vape quality) from a basic fused clapton?

Also, entire spools of various types of claptons can be had for usually under $10, so there's that. If you're feeling lazy like I sometimes am and can't be bothered with it.

I've used a bunch of the geekvape 316L claptons in dual coil mode and they seem to work alright. Unfortunately no Ti or Nife's but you can get a SS 430 spool from avs which I've used in TC w/ various single coil atomizers.

Amen! But I found myself always making changes and improving my vape about every six months. I've been following the ole gang here for a long time, I watch, listen, then blame them. LoL

Who knows? I mean who knows if any of this is not just in our head, that said I think there might be a difference in vapor thickness, the mechanicals of it make sense to me, more little pockets in the coil and whatnot. They're not super easy to clean though and like all claptons they gunk up. It takes going much more slowly and painstakingly though, so it's not always my thing.

BTW Mike do you have any small guage Nife's? I think they work nicely for the outer claptoned wire.

No, I dont think I have ever even tried Nife wire, might have to pick up a spool of 35g.

What does it do to a tfr to mix wires?

I just completely rely in steam engine for that, set it to clapton or staggered clapton and plug in the info, I usually do it one if two ways so I just use 2 maps.

Got caught in the next city during a huge storm, trying to make my way back home through the back roads I was cut off by flooding, it was a river flowing through a little village I needed to get past. Had to turn around and head back to the city, had a hell of a time, the fire dept had closed the road back after I had passed. I had to convince them to let me through otherwise I would have been stuck between them and the flood at the bottom of the hill a mile away, finally they let me pass. Made it back to interstate 81, headed south only to find the south bound exit to my village was closed off, I went past and used the next cop u-turn back north to my exit on the higher ground side, then home. Haven't seen this for many years, happy to be home and up on the hill!

Forgot to say, I was standing in the checkout line of walmart with my cell phone in my hand, all the sudden the emergency alert alarm went off on everyone's phones in the store warning of the storm, I didn't even know I had that on my phone! It was strange to hear it from all sides of the store, from all the phones, it was loud!
