I have discovered that these fused claptons ie act like a wick. All the nooks and crannys suck the juice in. You can watch it boil furiously on the surface of a coil. Makes for a much nicer hit compared to a straight wire coil.

As for work, the first 3 attempts were. After that it wasnt much work at all. Once you develop the "feel" for it the only work is holding the drill button for a while, and I may even rig that as my finger started getting fatigued.
That's what I do for flavor testing. A hadaly with a wickless stagger fused clapton and just drip on the coil

Speaking of batteries & heat I've noticed my new cell phone is always pretty warm when I take it off the wireless charger, I think the Samsung adaptive charging up to a bit over 2.1a, but maybe the wireless charging contributing to the warmness.

Qi (wireless) charging can lose 20-40% efficiency. That loss turns to heat. My rDNA40 has Qi charging but the heat makes it not worth using. No consumer wireless charger goes over 1a charging (most are 800ma). My Droid Turbo 2 has something similar but only works with a usb cable. I can't remember plugging anything into my phone since I got it. I have a Tylt Vu on my desk and in my truck for charging.

$19 shipped! I paid $50 a few years ago and LOVE this charger. So much I got the version for my truck.

Well it seems the consensus here is slower is better
So what about charging over night?
Is it. Safer to leave the batteries. On the charger for extended periods?
Or. Charge. Them faster?

Overnight charging is fine. Li-Ion chargers have an automatic cutoff at 4.2v.

This is the charger I use, & it'll do 2a, with a Samsung phone at least... but the charge time is exactly the same as when plugged in fast charging. Charging at one amp on this phone takes a really long time.

I'll take a screenie next time I charge it.

So this is the new charger :) It charges an 18650 in about an hour :)
I kept touching them to see if they were getting warm & no! they stay cool :)
It automatically sets the charging rate for the cell it senses.
Even if I'm giving up some cycle life, I don't mind :) This is a nice charger :)
It was 77$ Canadian money with Tax & shipping :)

Very nice indeed Steamer!! Same one I've been looking at to replace my Nitecore LUC V4 but the darn thing just won't die.

On the heat thing: Your SC4, my LUC and many other Li-Ion chargers are CC-CV capable. Constant Current charging for about 90% capacity and then Constant Voltage to top off the batt.
FYI: Your cells will be the hottest right before the charger switches from CC to CV mode. It might be best to test for heat several times during the charge cycle to be sure the cells never get hot.

Any charger for Li-ion batteries should be. I've never seen a Li-ion cell spec that allows it to be charged any other way, have you?

I have charged 5 batteries since I got home from work! :)
I would still be waiting for the first ones with the old charger.
At this point cycle life is gone out the window for me :)
If I f up my batteries faster because of the rate their charging now So Be It!
I feal like I just put Nitrous Oxide on my charger :)

I'm with you Steamer, batteries are consumables in vaping just like juice, wicks and wire. Convenience to shorter life, so long as it wouldn't make them dangerous to charge or use, yeah convenience! Besides, they are not that expensive compared to what we'd be spending on cigarettes!

I build new coils and wicks every other day, safer to vape on then cruddy coils and I always have that fresh build taste. Going through a lot of wire and rayon but still a lot cheaper then cigs!

Speaking of smoking, the last two days I've been walking around the perimeter of the house and yard picking up ....'s, the painters I had here smoked. Seeing .... litter now that I don't smoke really bugs me for some reason, never use to. I showed them my vape gear, talked to them about it and offered to let them try it, even told them about my brush with cancer but they didn't seem interested at all. I tried..... :(

I am to a place in time where I only have one 18650 that gets charged in a stand alone charger.

Reminds me of when I had only one ego twist and clearo, then on a trip one day it went dead, stopped and bought a pack of cigarettes to get me back home. The next day I placed an order for more gear and was determined to build depth in every part of my vape gear so I would never run out of anything again! I've come a long way since then, in fact I've have gone way overboard.....

Sounds kind of cool, like the "adaptive charging" some phones use, which is I think just based on how hot the battery is but Idk bc the phone charger I use has Bluetooth for something... But as long as it's not dangerous idc really about replacing my 18650's more often.

I might try it out, after I do some more research... nitcore stuff is cheap in the US, it's basically an upgraded version of the one I have now.

Every Mod I use has a Lipo in it.
