Could be they're not using TC. It works fine in power mode and especially well on mechs. On mechs it gives a nice "preheat-like" boost when cool.
I have some good luck using Temco 316L SS but it does drop in res and rise in res temp factor once broke in. With a new build when the vape begins to go anemic I let it sit at room temp for an hour, unscrew the atty, hit the fire button to clear the res and then screw the atty back on and re-read the res. It only takes .01 ohms drop in res to make an anemic vape. .01 ohms drop equates to approx 85°f cooler vape with 316L so re-reading the base/cold res is necessary when using SS (especially 316 and 317). With chinesium SS all bets are off as the TCR/RTF can be all over the place due to lack of quality control/assurance issues. 430 SS rocks for TC as does Ti and NiFe52 alloy. Those three have high res and high TCR/RTF values; both attributes being desirable for more accurate TC.

Hope this helps Kiba.
They are, here's a couple of quotes...

"In my opinion as well as several others 316 is far superior"

"Curious as I have seen several people on ECF talking, for some time now, about this recent 430 grade being better than 317L or at least more so for people with nickel allergies.
Not sure how that will pan out for vaping on TC but it seems to be very highly thought of.
Time will tell."

"Why are they raving about it? Because they are idiot vapers that have done zero research"

tbh after using this crap for a weekend I can't imagine why anyone would prefer it over 430...

I don't think the screws are an issue tbh, even if they were non-conductive, they just clamp the wore to the post.... and my resistance is in the correct range.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think with most attys these days most of the current is flowing through the grub screws (by design). Just pressing a wire against a post doesn't scrub off oxides on the wire or create any gas tight connection points like the grub screw does. The wire to post connection also doesn't make as much usable surface area contact as a grub screw which smashes and gouges into the wire. The exception here would be if your atty has grub screw holes extending past the wire to post connection point (also referred to by some as a "pass thru hole" or "wire clipper" attys). In that case the wire to post connection could be just as good as the wire to grub screw connection that is, just before it snips off your coil legs. I hate those attys!
So with corroded/oxidized high ferrous grub screws there is a pretty good chance of adding some res at the wire to grub screw connection and more so in the grub screw threading.
Not saying that's what happening with your setup, just sayn'.
My favorite posts have no pass-thru holes and large allen head or slotted screws so that proper torque can be applied and identical materials used for the posts and grub screws to minimize galvanic corrosion. Gold plating is a plus too.

With your generous "gifts", You should have plenty of Ti to build your own Claptons :) There worth the effort! :)
22-26g only. I'll need to order some 'wrap'. It'll be a while before I get to another Temco order.

Pulse rake pulse rake pulse rake.
Thank god I'm usually sitting for this, I have a hard enough time with the left right left right left right while walking.

Same same, Titanium takes forever to develop an abrasion resistant coating. That's why most advise to wrap spaced coils when using Ti. In addition, get Ti too hot and it will go off like a flash bulb. Don't ask.

ETA: Dryburning Ti above a dull red will cause the Titanium Dioxide coating to sluff off. Kind of looks like pealing scales under magnification.
This is a prime example, it is when the coil gets a little crust on it, it will start burning real hot. If I take the cover off I can see the inside of the Clapton glowing red. I have tried raking, pulsing, wiggling, etc, to no avail. In this case the resistance dropped from 0.19 to 0.16 but even at 0.16 and a temp setting of 310F it is burning hot. At that point I simply dont trust the coil anymore and I trash it, which probably is not a bad idea based the gunk level anyway. Yes, I miss the dry-burning days of kanthal..........

Problem is, that was only a week or less of vaping. Where a single coil on the same atty can last me a month or more.

Nice heads up on the "Black" screws :)
I'm having a different experience with the single coil deck, I agree it does whistle, But mine are working really well! The flavour & vapour production is "Top Notch" for me :) I had retired my Supremes long ago, since the +'s came out. With the new single coil deck all three are back in rotation & I'm loving them again :) I would like very much if this style deck came out for the + & even the Lite :)
This deck on the Lite with honeycomb air holes machined into it like the Plus and SV2 has would be much better, it would eliminate the whistle completely. I detest whistle over everything else, which is why the Wasp nano sits in the junk RDA box at work.

    And the V1/2......
I retired my much loved V2 with Trinity tank, I just cant do the bottom fill thing anymore. :(

I detest whistle over everything else,

The Supreme V1 with the single coil deck only whistles when I have the AFC closed down to the smaller slit. If I open the AFC all the way I get no whistling :) All the way open is too much air for me, So I do put up with a bit of a whistle :( TBH it don't bug me as much as an atty that over hangs or a 2mil capacity :D

    Sitting down, facing forward.
Personally, I like a bottom fill like the Aromamizer. It let's me check the coil and wick condition with each, daily, refill. With the FEV I've gotten totally immune to whistles. As long as the vape is good, I'm happy.
