All that pain to oppose gravity :)

You squonkists are a determined bunch, ill give you that :)

Oh come on! :) Squonking has all of the benefits of dripping, without the hassle of dripping. Plus it also enjoys almost all of the convenience of a rta. It has many of the benefits of the many different methods of vaping with the least amount of cons with many of them. :)

I built a few like that. And then said, "screw it, the vape I get from a mech is just as good".
Holy switch wire...
I kept a dozen old floppy drive ribbon cables for connecting switches. :D

Yes we are. But by pushing our juice uphill, we get the benefits of:
  • Cool, fresh-squozen juice every time rather than having your entire tank full in incessant contact with a hot vaporization chamber.
  • The flexibility of using pretty much any RDA on the market.
  • The ease of maintenance of an RDA vs. a tank.
  • Not being dependent on some large number of o-rings to maintain a tank's seal
  • Much less sensitivity to pressure/altitude and temperature changes.
  • An overall form-factor to the mod/atty combo that barely peeks out of a shirt pocket.

I did tanks for about my first 6 moths of vaping. I've been squonking for four years now. :D

Hey, i got rid of my Kayfun 5, so theres your oring argument in tatters for one :) :)

On the other hand i am known to do mad things like put a stubby 27mm wide Themis on my ePetite, so yeah, prolly not as subtle as a low profile RDA :)

I use 30g Kynar wire for switching wires which I still have several rolls of from the old wire wrap proto board days.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I forgot all about wire wrap... those were lovely times. :)

I don't think "lovely" is the term I'd use for wire wrap. 36 card cages with 36 pin connectors for each card gets to be a little boring after a while.

On the other hand, that was when I was working for Westinghouse in the meat packing area of Newark. Lunch was always great!

I built a computer with wire wrap proto cards. 8080 processor and clock card, 8255 peripheral interface card, 4K ram card, eprom card, 2 misc I/O cards with flip flops, hex inverters, and a handful of other 7400 series ICs for LEDs and switches. Took a lot of hours but boy was it fun and gratifying.

Right? I hated those cages. In the USAF our team was assigned to reterminate all of the telcom connections at 3 weapons storage areas. 10's of thousands of them. 6 months later we were deployed to the same 3 bases to remove all of the wire wrap cages and replace them with IDC punch blocks. The government sure knows how to waste money.

I respectfully submit that this makes no sense.

Let's say a cell's its resting voltage is 3.2V and it has 20 milliohms internal resistance. If you apply a "hard" 4.2V (from a supply with no current limit, and using leads with no resistance) that cell should take 50 amps. Even if its resting voltage is all the way up to 4.1, it should still take 5A.

V/R=I. V in this case is the difference between the supply voltage and the cells resting voltage. R is the internal resistance of the cell. Of course in the real world, the stuff between the power supply and the cells also have some resistance, which should be added to R, so the real-world currents will be somewhat less.

Exactly! But try it. It just doesn't take it. I can hook one of my 18650s drained to 3.2v directly to one of my CC/CV power supplies and dial in 4A @ 4.2v and then make the output hot. And I'll be lucky to get at least 1A of charge. I tried the same with one of my 5Ah RC lipos and it is better. There they can almost take 5A @ 4.2v per cell. Maybe I should use 8 AWG wiring. Maybe that is the problem.

You guys are overlooking the current limiting of the charging device/board, they do not have "whatever the battery will take" ratings, usually have 0.5 - 2.0A ratings @ input voltage (usually 5V USB). Whatever the charger is rated at will be drawn, output voltage of the charger will be reduced to battery terminal voltage while the current is "maxed out." When battery terminal voltage approaches 4.2V, current will begin to reduce.

I started squanking bc when I first started, reo's were one of the only ways to get a decent vape.

I just got out of the hospital today, my body seems determined to not cooperate with me. I was on the way home from the gym & then everything is fuzzyuntil I woke up at the hospital with an iv. I think I hit my head on something, must of fainted like a little girl lol & I had to stay there until my blood sugar & pulse "returned to normal" it didn't but I checked out. The doctor there was clueless, all he was looking at was symptoms, I did get info for a (supposedly) good endocrinologist so there's that, this'll be the 7th one I've seen though. I am kind of glad to of not had this happen at work.

Dang that sucks Kiba, I hope they figure out what's going on with you.

This is the first time something like that has happened, I probably didn't eat enough... Still, I think I'm going to make an appointment on Monday with a new endocrinologist. Just need to not give up on finding a good Dr.

Hope you get a doctor that will be on top of this and find out what's going on. One thing I learned long ago is don't put these doctors on a pedestal, ask questions and let them know who's in charge, they are working for you. Don't accept long waits to get results from tests, make them understand you expect them to be right on top of treating you.

I have another appointment with my doctor tomorrow and he's going to get an ear full from me. I waited a week to get a call with the results from my last blood test showing my red blood cell count was low and they told me they wanted another draw for more test, I told the nurse I had been feeling better. When I called them back the next morning and asked if they were going to also recheck my red blood cell count again, seeing how I was feeling better, they told me the nurse would check with the doctor and call me back. Two days passed, the nurse finally called back at 4 PM on Friday and said;
Seeing how you have an appointment with the doctor on Monday you can ask him then and we can do the blood draw while your here.
I responded with;
Well gee, thanks for being right on top of things and getting right back to me. I hope this isn't cancer that's returned or popped up elsewhere. If you've looked at my chart you'll see I've already had a round with it just a few years ago. I hope precious time isn't ticking away, now yet another week has passed and nothing has been addressed.
I think she could tell I was a little .........

It's been a month since my first visit with the doc, so far they guessed I might of had a kidney infection, first blood test took a week and a half to rule that out. Then they thought I might be having migraines and done more blood tests to find my red cell count was low, since I've improved with no treatment. At this rate, if it's something serious it could be months before they figure out what's going on, that's NOT going to be acceptable! Too much time passes getting test results and getting calls from them, if they can't stay on top of things I'll find someone else who can. Don't let this happen to you!

kiba, You'd probably get a laugh out of this story. Back when I first started twisting wrenches in the 70's the shop I worked in had these old in ground double post lifts, one post was stationary to lift under the rear axle and the front you would slide forward or rearward to lift under the front suspension, kind of like in the pic below but it was vintage even in the 70's.

inground_traditional.jpg

The lift I used didn't work right, you started putting air pressure to it and it would lag before lifting, suddenly the pressure would rise enough and the front would BOOM jump a good foot in the air almost tossing a car off the lift. They had people come in to service the lift one day, I had an engine on a stand torn down that I was rebuilding, the engine came from a convertible that was sitting next to it. During lunch the lift repair guys were working on it when we suddenly heard a bunch of yelling in the shop, we walked out of the lunch room to see a two inch stream of hydraulic oil rising from the in ground oil reserve tank up like a oil gusher and hitting the ceiling then showering all over the shop. One of the workers had pulled the fill cap off the tank and another applied pressure to test the lift not knowing the cap was still off. There was old cream colored hydraulic oil, that stunk like hell, cream colored because it had water in it, all over the place. It was all inside the engine I was rebuilding, inside the open drawers of my tool box and all over the outside of the box, the walls, floor, dripping from the ceiling, the lights and all inside and outside of that convertible, the top was down....
