Greatest company I ever worked for. 1st company to win the Malcolm Bainbridge 6 sigma award, and it was an integral part of the culture

They made the best! Phones back in the day.
I held on to my StarTac for as long as I could. I even bought my last one used from a Guy when they were no longer available. Their bag phones were incredible to :)
Full 3 watts with an external antenna :) The good old days! When you carried a phone, not a small pc that tracks every thing you do! From your finger print to your location :(

When I was a kid we had a "party line" You had to wait your turn to make a call.
You also had to listen for that click, to make sure no one was listening to your conversation :)

As a teenager we figured a way to cheat the pay phone! We would cut a strip off the phone book & slide it down the quarter slot, put a penny in the nickel slot as we pulled out the strip of paper & volla a 10 cent phone call for a Penny :)

There was the number to dial that Bell would give you the number you were dialing from and the frequency sweep number. I used to make calls by tapping the number into the hook on pay phones when I was a kid. After Bell went digital adding the 4th tone row in the keyboard matrix was awesome till they added that inaccessible international dialing line.

As a teenager we figured a way to cheat the pinball machines. A piece of tape holding thread and quarter together. Lowering it slowly down the slot, you could hear it trip the credit counter. A gentle up/down and you could rack up 20 credits quickly.

I remember when Bell sent computer punch cards as bills. Well it was right around the time I started programming and we used punch cards. ;)

    Nice! :)
We had a pretty good use for the punch out's from electrical boxes!
Just a little hammering & they resembled a quarter perfectly :)
Even worked in Cigarette Machines :)
We used our ingenuity as kids :) But all ways for Bad things :)
Heck any machine that was put out there needed to be Challenged. Right?
