Tried every single method including drag & drop. Uploads simply were not available on the forum in any way or form on ECF during 1/2hr I was attempting to post for some reason. 15min after that it worked fine.strange! never ran into a problem - i right-click the pic and choose 'copy imagine'
then back over here - right-click and choose 'paste' all while running xp pro and no hang-ups
also, i thought retired mentioned that with a newer os you can just drag the picture to where you want it.

Not those but the Asolo. Same kanthal TC problem with removing and reinstalling attys. The tcr of kanthal is too low for effective and accurate "temp control" but did work fairly well at "temp protecting" on the Asolo.Probably out of place here in the Evolving Thread, but I'm surprisingly fairly impressed.
Was intrigued with the Holm Wrecker G2 Kanthal TC Claims, so on Labor Day I ordered one new from Ecig.com for $58.40, and I have to say I was impressed w/ Kanthal TC. Think it does pretty darn well in Kanthal TC even if its accuracy is more than somewhat subjective. I have been enjoying it despite its size, boxy, downright ugly appearance, & lack of USB Charging. Love the idea of actually being able to use up the many stock Kanthal coils I have laying around here for a change (been TC Vaping pretty much exclusively for long time).
Actually it seems fairly accurate w/ SS, Ti, Ni. On Kanthal it drops you somewhere on an imaginary projected curve and it is up to you to dial the FSK by feel. Even removing your atty for a fill can make it vape differently with the same atty requiring some readjustment. While annoying that way, and a bit of a learning curve, it does very well with stock coils in Auto+TC Kanthal Mode. RBAs are a bit more temper-mental to adjust (right now on a new Protank 4 w/ Stock Dual Claptons on the Velocity deck Auto+TC was way too hot & had to switch to Manual Temp/Watt Kanthal TC & drop temp to 310f to get a 450f Vape then dial it to read 450f. Understand why, but this thing certainly isn't a mod for Newbs who just want to vape. Once adjusted it will remain consistent with TC, preheat on cold coil & quick response to temp. If you are Higher Temp vaper into Exotic Multiple Clapton builds, the G2 can probably do it in TC when a DNA might not be able to (material/stability).
I was intrigued & impressed enough by it's performance to order a Hohm Slice Limited Edition in Stainless (Actually Silver Paint) from Vapor Beast for $61.56 a week ago. I realized there were a lot of battery cover & paint deterioration issues on the Slice that have supposedly been corrected so I was a bit concerned, but it arrived today with only a slight movement on the battery door if your trying (magnets are weak) & paint & build quality look decent for now (time will tell). Board & mod are smaller, much more ergonomic, has 3a usb pass-thru charging and it is pushing a TFV4 stock quad kanthal coil in Auto+TC dead accurate in Kanthal TC Mode. Much easier to deal with than the G2, but the 26650 will have limited life (4-6hrs vaping). This ease may change on an RBA (haven't tried).
I had always discounted the Hohmtech Kanthal TC devices, but had to try them. Haven't had a dry or burnt hit on either, despite some very hot vapes when I changed atty. Each has had firmware updates that have improved them, and they really do Kanthal TC & have some real potential after they are refined a bit more. Shame they didn't produce an RX2/Battlestar style dual 18650 before 8/8. I'd have jumped on that as well for the battery life.
I don't know if they will qualify for FDA approval until they can guarantee an accurate Kanthal temp without user adjustment on a consistent basis and right now that is still elusive.
Anyone else play around with these?
Limiting or Protecting are probably probably better terms than Control in Kanthal, on that you are definitely correct. PB had it right that its temperature guessing. Not those but the Asolo. Sounds like the G2 and Slice are worth a look...thanks for the heads up.![]()
@SlickWilly I've been offline a lot the last week or so... But glazing over the thread I was super glad to hear about your excellent report! As vaping bad said, it brought a smile to my face - seriously.
Some time ago someone posted a curve file for kanthal tc on the evolv forum for 200's, think if was before the 75's came out. I noticed it but didn't follow the thread, wonder if anyone tried it?
Guess its an option if you switch to vastly different builds regularly & don't have regular access to a PC or Windows Tablet or phone capable of adjusting the setting. With the newer materials tab, now profile presets can be set up for different preheats to switch on mod.So while we're touching on DNA TCI was wondering if anyone else here has turned off their preheats in all of their TC profiles. I know, sounds weird but I run a lot of different attys and wire types on my three 200's and they range in power requirements from 65w to 125w in TC. Due to the fact that preheat power is not adjustable in the mod menu system I just turned them off.
True though, doing this restricts me from forcing faster firing times, especially on bigger builds, but for me it beats having to open Escribe.
That seems doable with the new firmware allowing for material type changes on the mod. Set the profiles up for 40w,60w,80w....etc and just swap material types on the selected profile. I like it, even if it is a couple more button presses. What I did was to set up varying degrees of preheat under my eight preset profiles, I don't switch wire types often so I set them all for either nickel or stainless depending on the mood I'm in that week. Once I have all eight profiles set for nickel I saved the settings, set up for stainless and saved that, now I can just upload either one to the mod when I switch wires. This way I can bump the preheat up or down by switching to a preset that works best while away from a computer.
