IDK whats happening But the batteries were discharging.
Because it was doing it with both chips, We need to look at what was the same as before, Not the dna cause the OG chip was doing it to.
So by proses of elimination it has to be the 510 or the battery contacts?
What else could it be?

Checked my 5 DNAs for voltage at the 510 connector. 3 dna200's and 2 dna75's. Apparently UP TO .63Xv is normal when measured with a DMM.

Interesting though is that when they are at rest for a long period of time (overnight) they all initially read 10-40mv but began climbing with the meter connected . Once fired and allowed to go to idle they all read at least .40v and also began rising once the meter was connected. They all rose to .63X volts if I left the meter connected long enough (2 min)

Not sure why that happens. Perhaps there is a capactor in the dna output circuit that can charge to .63X volts with the tiny reference voltage used by the meter for voltage measurements. Or it could be that the 1Mohm resistor in the meter is being detected by the dna even when it's idle. If it is then the small reference voltage used by the dna for res measurement could be charging the output cap.

Bottom line, your board is probably fine. Have you checked your batteries to see if they hold a charge overnight when not installed in the mod?

Thanks for the in-depth reply :)
I'm sure the DNA 75 is fine :) My batteries are fine to.
The problem originated with the Battle Star mod, It would discharge the batteries at an alarming rate.
I assumed it was something in the Battle Star chip causing the discharge problem.
But I was wrong, The discharge problem persisted, even after the chip swap.
Like I mentioned before the battery contacts & the 510 from the Battle Star, are really cheaply made.
I'm all most certain one or the other was causing the discharge problem.

I put the project aside for now, the Battle Star enclosure will need some extensive modifications to be a good quality mod.
I guess I should have know better, You get what you pay for & the Battle Star mod was 37$ :)

Reasons why I don't suspect the 510:

The batteries drained with or without the atty installed. The .6v was present with or without the 510 connector installed. No mention of "atomizer short" or "res too low" error messages. No mention of finding a solder ball or any other anomalies on the 510 when removed. The batteries drained even when the dna was idle.

This pretty much leaves the battery sled or wiring connections on the battery sled or board. Great care should be taken to identify if there is a high res short causing slow battery drain. Those high res shorts can turn into low res shorts and vent your batteries. Just sayn', I don't want you to become a statistic bro.

There's the main reason it's still not in my line up! A mod has to be a lot of things to be considered, a "must have". But first & foremost It has to be safe! :)

Thought I covered that pretty well but yeah, always good to get more info.
You covered it with great detail. Great job. Thanks for checking into it. Hard to believe this was a surprise to this particular collective. Thanks for your efforts.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I'm just curious to find out what the source of that voltage "creep" is and if it has a real purpose or is just an unintended thing. Sounds like what could be described as "leakage" current, but leaking from what/where and why?

Steamer, I know those battery cups & springs seem like they are total crap, but the are same used without issue in a number of mods if it is the spring cup design. If I were you I would replace the positive lead with a good silicon wire lead and willing to bet your issue will go away. Sorry you cooked the 510. Seem where guys have used a VT510 shorty in place of that in RX200 without issue & were very pleased they did.

Yes they are the cup design, I'm sure I can rework the whole mod to have better contacts & a 510.
The OG 510 was real crap. It had a press fit plastic piece that held the contact & the spring.
As soon as I applied heat to remove the wire it melted every thing :(
Hind site is all ways 20 20, I should have took more time & did the conversion better.
I really don't want that poor quality mod sitting on my desk with 2 18650's in it.
A better safer Battle Star 75 will rise from the ash's :)

Yesterday I got my first burnt hit I've had since I started using DNA boards, it was a bit lung hit too! Afterwards it hit me what happen, it was totally predicable but completely unexpected, because of my ignorance... I was out in the cold, had my mod in my outside pocket and was using my regular 90% VG mix..... First couple hit's were fine, then WHAM, lungs full of burnt rayon..... Note to self, can't let high VG mix get that cold.....

I turn my punch down near "soft" for that very reason. Seems like it gives the mod a little more time to figure out that the coil is going to overheat.

I've only started getting burnt hits when I started using SS wire (both 316 and 430). Never happened with Ni200.

Me 2, I don't think I ever got a burnt hit with A DNA & Ti :)
Some times at work I let my tank go dry from not paying attention, still no burnt hit.
Just a weak, no throttle hit :)

Not to be spammy but Tylt.com is having a 35% off sale (code: tyltmas).

I got a Tylt Vu desktop charger a couple of years ago when it was $70 but on sale for $49. I only bought phones with Qi charging since and LOVE this charger. The blue one is $30 on Amazon.

Last Black friday sale, I picked up the car version of the Vu in red (since my truck is red :) ) for $40 shipped. I'm on the fence with this though. The Qi charging is great but the mount really sucks and looking at the Amazon reviews, can get pretty nasty in hot weather. Luckily, the ball mount is a standard Garmin mount (17mm ball) and there are a few aftermarket mounts available. Since I have a 3d printer, I printed a mount with a 4 hole AMPS pattern and mounted it on my center console with 3m double sided tape. It's so solid, when I tried to move it, the panel I stuck it to moved so I'm really happy with it now.

The only downside is that both chargers use a proprietary power cord. I had no issues with my desk charger in 2 yrs so it didn't prevent me from getting the car version.
