My friend and I make the same juice except he uses TPA sweet flavor (sucrose) and I use TPA cotton candy....for the sweetener.
His coils look like crap in a couple of days and I can get upwards of 100 ml out of mine and it never looks as bad as his.
Same coil (I do his coils), same temp/wattage/preheat, same atty, same mod.

Yeah I believe that is %1 ethyl maltol, I don't use any sweetener besides sometimes FA meringue, bc they are all full of sucralose anyways.

I have 20700's & 26650's in rotation now, they take for ever! to charge with my D4
But is 3 amps too much? Whats the down side to charging an 18650 in 90 minutes as compared to several hours?

This is what I was thinking, I charge my lipo packs @ 2 amps with my DNA 250's.
They charge way faster than an 18650 on my D4. I just replaced said lipo packs & they lived a long & productive life
The kicker with the new "SC2/4" is you can set the charging rate up to 3 amps.
So shouldn't it be as easy as finding out the recommended max charge rate for the cells being charged & continue accordingly?
From drained to fully charged my 26650 Ijoy inr's take up wards of 6 hours on the D4
I agree I dont want to wreck my batteries, But! charging them safely, faster would be some thing that would interest me Just Saying

Remember your talking apples and orange, Steamer. A LiPO pack has different chemistry than an 18650 and can withstand higher current charging and discharging. Heck, even at 1 amp 18650s get warm. Rather than try to speed charge an 18650 or even a 20700 just get a few more and rotate them. Way safer and the batteries will last longer.

Good advice. @Steamer861 All lipos can be charged at 1C and higher, that's mah ÷ 1000, and that calculated current will charge the lipo in 1 hour . Example: For Mike's 5000mah "weekender" lipo mod 1C (5 amps) will charge it in 1 hour. All of this without causing any damage to the cells.
Lithium Ions can be charged safely at 1C as well but will get warm and compromise lifespan. 1/2C is better and in fact the lowest charge rate you can tolerate the better. I charge all my 18650 li-on batts at .5 amps regardless of their mah rating so they stay nice and cool and last a long time.

I'm not sure what mah your 20700's are but as an example if they are say 2800mah a 1/2C charge rate would be 1.4 amps and take 2 hours to charge. A 1/4C charge rate would be .7 amps and take 4 hours to charge. So charging a 2800 mah batt at 2 amps would be approx 3/4C (.71), would be safe, keep the batts relatively cool and reach full charge in approx 1-1/2 hrs.

When it comes (3days?) I will experiment with my bigger cells using your math & see at what point they will start to heat up during charging. Thanks again for the write up

Fused Clapton, dual 26g TI, wrapped in SS316 40g, working great in TC using standard TI TFR.
I was surprised when I looked it up in Steam Engine, seems the core strands are what really count towards the TFR, not so much the wrap. Flavor is pretty good and seems to be improving as coil breaks in.

Used a drill, vise, fishing swivel, and a spool minder. Had to loosen spool minder a bit more than usual as that 40g breaks easy. Pulsed it a bit to work the hot spots out of the SS before wicking and was good to go. Seems the wrap itself can have a hot spot or two until pulsed.
