So Whats the advantage to "USBc" ? I know my Kids new Mac's have them & nothing works on them any more :(
IMO bigger & heavier is a choice you can make? I'm speculating again here but, a dual 18650 is still an option, I would assume?

It's too soon to speculate, cause all the info hasn't been released yet.

I'm looking forward to the official release :) I'm all about better battery life, I assume it's going to be coming with the new Chip :)

We woke up to everything coated in ice. Even Leo, with "four wheel drive", had trouble going down the steps and I put out ice melt. It's supposed to get into the low 40's today, so it should improve fairly soon.
this is something we were spared further south from you, i believe!

Sitting down, facing forward.
The sun is out, temps are above freezing (for change) and it looks like it's raining under the trees with the melting going on.

I dunno. I'm starting to have second thoughts about the 250C. I'm all for battery life but why not just hook up to a car battery then? No USB charging? What's that all about, "cordless" charging? That would mean no programming off a PC unless it has Bluetooth and that doesn't make me comfortable. I guess I'm a dinosaur, and mighty proud of it. I'll wait to see what the actual product looks like when it, finally, gets released.

It has "Micro" USB, just not the newer USB-C variant.

USB-C is nice, you dont have to worry about the plug being upside down, it works no matter how you plug it in. I think it has better specs too, but really the lack of needing to orient the plug is biggest advantage I see on my phone that has it.

I first heard of USB-C here yesterday, my research found this link with these bullet points. As this writer pointed, IF the C takes off and becomes stand it would mean less ports on devices and a lot less cables in the drawer, if it doesn't take off, it wlll mean we'll be adding more cables to the pile. I just inherited the wife's prior iphone, just what I need, one more cable hanging off the outlet strip under the desk...

  • It's reversible, like Apple's Lightning cable. No more fumbling to plug it in the right way.
  • It can transfer data at up to 10 Gbps—i.e. 10 times your crazy Google Fiber connection per second. (If you have Google Fiber, I hate you forever.)
  • It can do video. Forget specialized video ports like DisplayPort and HDMI (eventually anyway) because Type-C can do that too. And in both directions. A single cable could carry video from phone to PC orPC to phone. Or to TVs, tablets, you name it.
  • It can carry a crapload of power. Depending on the wall-wart you plug your Type-C cable into, it can deliver up to 100w of power. That's enough to charge full-size laptops, not just ones with underpowered processors.
  • Like all USBs, Type-C is an open standard. It won't be exclusive to any one company or line of gadgets.
  • Type-C is backwards-compatible. You can use with the old ports that are already all around you (if you get an adapter).
  • It's tiny. Small enough to make laptops thinner and work its way into phones and tablets.

I think the only real standard is calling it USB. Think about it, the "standard" USB port was "standard", then the "mini" USB port came along, followed by the "micro" USB port which is being followed by USB-C. So far, by my calculations, higher math done by counting fingers on one hand, that is actually four "standards". I'm sure somebody will improve on the USB-C, eventually and yet another "standard" will emerge. Through it all, the original big, rectangular, clunky, USB port is still "standard" on motherboards and cases when you could stuff double the number of micro or mini into the same space. Go figure.

Life's tuff when your a skeptical cynic.

Well, I like it, and would be happy if it became the new standard.

You say that, But In my case with the Kids new Mac's, none of our old USB peripherals work with out an adapter :(
I had to buy new cables to Charge/Sync the phones & an adapter for every thing else :(
Think of how many USB devices you have? Now update all of them, or use an adapter.

I bough a handful of adapters that fit my OLD cables.
