My GF and I had to stop using Instant Messenger. On more than one occasion things escalated way beyond anything intended. The written word, without audible tone of voice, or body language, was easily misunderstood by both of us. Light hearted things (or typos) got misinterpreted as snipes, and next thing you know we are in a full blown nuclear meltdown. We finally just both agreed to quit using it.

We rely so greatly on visual feed back and vocal intonation that writing is so perilous. When I was working, all letters went into a drawer and later a saved computer folder to sit before sending. I got in the same habit with emails. This instant stuff is hard to do that.

Yes, of course hemp is mentioned on the forum thousands of times. - people use it as wick.
OMG, I remember those days, BJ turned us onto it. Stuffing R91s full of hemp, like a carto on steroids. Hit pretty damn good for its day though!

That's right, I first posted the top link and that's when I saw the auto change of the wording when posting a url changed the wording including "hemp" in it, not wanting to break any "rules" for gods sake I edited the link to "click me" and even stated because of the wording I had to change the link, there you go that shows I wan NOT trying to break any rules. Then I see this

Hey you !
You realize that is evading the forum censor ?
And you still can't link to that stuff !

If I remember correctly, those ads are through a service - I reported it.

Now, I am going to go off and stomp my feet too.

This is the link to that pic that "dangit" wouldn't post for you-->
Child Gorilla GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY <--tell me what that was about?

Your posts speak for themselves, clearly. How can they be taking for anything but what you intended?

Willy...
I stomped my feet and reported that ad that said bull :censored: !
Edit to add : And that is what got Oliver here - because I went and griped about it in where we talk.
And the baby gorilla pic was for me throwing my hands up in the air and falling over.
Sheesh.

Oh, I know that scene! Tell you what helps - emojis. I use them all the time now. Never really did before (except on ECF).

But you make a serious point. Tone of voice is very hard to convey well in the written form.

Bollocks. << testing

Didnt you gig me on that once, because my sig was 10 pixels too high?
So I reduced it by 11 pixels..... :D

 probably...
Roly was really adamant about the sig size.
I can understand not wanting them to take up real estate and looking horrible and wanting a uniform look...but yea...
He'd report them to be taken care of.
Now I only let people know when they are really big.

@Oliver

You may recall this from a PM you and I once had:

"One observation is that ECF has become so big that in a lot of ways it feels like bureaucracy now. For example, I printed the rules, for a verified member there are 16 pages, for a supplier there are 22. And these are solid text pages, not a lot of white space. Heck, you cant blame folks for not knowing all the rules, their eyes get glazed over reading them all. Perhaps a good objective look at them, and a little condensation. I wont get into specific rules that I might disagree with, just that they need a good objective look. Find the balance between liability, keeping things civil, and hampering the sharing of knowledge. Most of us here dont want a free-4-all like VU, so yes there has to be structure and rules. They need an overhaul though."

Yup, I totally agree. I think the rules can be stripped right back to their elements without any disruption.

At the end of the day, I'd like to say our only rule is the golden one, but that can never take into account the previous issue I replied to you on.

Oh, and no drugs, porn or Morris dancing.

Oh, you were talking about yourself, had nothing to do with me... yeah, right, nice spin.

"Now, I am going to go off and stomp my feet too."
