Sitting down, facing forward.
They'll be here tomorrow. This system is from the dark ages of cable, probably the early 70's, so they don't have any of the modern "amenities" that are common now. One of the problems is that we're far enough from the pole with the trunk line, they had to run a piece of 3/8" hardline to the pole on our property, then RG6 from there to the house. I've got a feeling the problem is at that pole. They were out here once before for total loss of signal and replace that RG6 to the house. I'm betting that joint, 3/8" hardline to RG6, is the problem.

Hey Mike, a buddy of mine is about to spend about 4k on a salt water aquarium for his new house... Is there any advice I should give him, anything you can think of for me to tell him?
Oh, I did forget one thing, I would never on Gods Green Earth try to run a saltwater tank unless I had an auto-transfer generator big enough to handle the life support hardware for the tank. A mere 2 hour power outage could cost you dearly!

Salt water tanks are beautiful when stocked nicely and cared for. Very strict cleaning and testing regimens though. I helped my Son in Law clean his giant tank filters once, it took almost two hours to get it to his satisfaction. Seems like he said filter cleaning had to be done every 2-3 weeks and all kinds of tests had to be performed on a weekly basis. Isn't there an easier way?
There are a ton of aquarium automation systems available that will monitor conditions in real time and adjust as needed to maintain setpoints. No way around cleaning filters though. My rule of thumb is take whatever filter size is recommended for that tank and double it, it helps reduce the maintenance. On my 150gal I run two hot tub filters for mechanical filtration, and also an oversized wet/dry for biological filtration. I also automated a 6% water change every two days, it would be a little more involved for saltwater, but an auto-water changer is certainly doable. Cuts maintenance down to every month or two.

At that price it has to be a custom made tank or a "room" for a tank. Mike, you raise some serious situational points and questions....(4k expensive) for the fishes survival. You sir,.....imo, are right on point.
You would defiantly need a monthly "tank boy" for maintenance, scrubbing and what not.
Lots of people fail because of a couple of things. Feeding, fish community mix and understanding "your" tanks nitrogen cycle.

Anyone here know about cellular prioritizing? Can att put me at the bottom of some list during peak hours? 5:30-8:00am every morning and 4:30-6:30pm every evening my cellphone connection sucks. Many times during those periods data just stops in 4G LTE mode. It will stay dead like that for 15min or more if I let it so my fix for it is to call my voice mail which instantly switches the connection to 4G and I'm back online within seconds. Another weird thing is when it switches from 4G LTE to 4G I show 4 bars of reception for 2 sec then it jumps down to 2 bars and stays there. None of this weirdness happened before, just here in the last few months. Are they throttling/prioritizing me in some way? Can they do that? Do the bars on my smart phone really represent signal strength or do they represent data transfer rate? Maybe both?

Have you tried SS316 on a mech yet rossum? It's magic, especially with fused claptons, aliens etc where slow ramp times are the norm. With those types of coils over-dripping or over-squonking typically produces a hot spitty vape until things heat up but when using SS316 you get that intial power increase which usually rockets the coil past the spitty phase very quickly.
I tried both stainless and titanium before they were a thing; I mean before the DNA40 existed. Not sure whether the stainless I tried was 316. I have a fuzzy recollection it might have been 304. In any case, I wasn't particularly enamored with it, probably because I do relatively simple coils (3 strands twisted is as fancy as I get) and don't see my tootle-puffing style benefiting much from more complex builds. .

AT&T?? LoL Do you know who William (Bill) Binney is? Google him if you don't, he used to work for what now is the NSA, he designed the capturing systems and safeguards to protect us at that time, before they took it away from him, removed the safeguards and got rid of him. Also check out the movie "A Good American". Listen to what he tells us about how they are taking EVERYTHING off AT&T's lines with a direct line going to the NSA for analyzing and storage, ( video starts around that point) plus any company that pays to use some of the free space on the fiber optic lines is also gathered, all with the blessing of AT&T. But it's just not AT&T, they are capturing ALL communications on EVERYONE with or without the companies acknowledgement. Really should watch the entire video, and I won't say I told you so, promises. ;) The crap that's being exposed these days bit by bit proves we weren't crazy tin foil hatter's after all. If you still don't believe, you will soon, and I'll enjoy the show. :pop:

Right, from a privacy perspective, it makes no difference which carrier you use.

I agree, but AT&T is doing it willingly, you'll never be able to sue the government and get a monetary settlement for violating your rights but you can a company, I expect one day AT&T will owe more in settlements then they are worth. I'm sure AT&T is getting a huge payoff for working with the deep state, they better not spend it all, they'll need it.

you sure it happens only to you? it could be tower congestion or, yes, deprioritization. but that's supposed to happen only if your data usage has reached a certain point (for most att plans that's 22 gigs) and if there's congestion. if it happens no matter where you are in your billing cycle i'd do some sleuthing. go for a ride during those times till you sure you're out of your tower's range and see what speeds you're getting from a different tower.

Oh, you wouldn't be laughing if you wanted cell coverage here.:D

I called att on the issue several times, they are trained to say that they never throttle data speeds. Even if they did we have a data package much larger than we normally use.

then get on the road and find out if the problem is your local tower ;) also, do you know anybody else with att in your neighborhood? are they experiencing the same slow down? my gut feeling is that the bandwidth on your tower is not sufficient for all those users during morning and evening rush hours; hence the decreased speed :(

Yes, my wife and I both have the same problem. Could be limited bandwidth during peak hours I suppose but geeze, there aren't very many peeps living around here, at least within 20 miles.
I have tested my phone closer to my tower and at other towers, it works better with increased signal strength.
The weird part is that whole 4G LTE vs. 4G thing I mentioned earlier. How can I show 2 bars of 4G LTE and have no data connection? Why is it when I switch over to 4G by making a phone call it shows 4 bars for a couple of seconds then drops to 2 bars every time? We used to have such good connection here, I'm bummed.:(

I noticed a similar situation with ATT in terms of signals. A couple of months ago I lost service at home, then it got marginal for a few days, then came back but the best I can get is 3G now. I assumed, and we know what that does, that ATT was working on the local cell but I have a feeling ATT has fooled with tower locations/equipment, system wide, for some reason. I never notice any degradation in data because I'm normally on my home WiFi, but the voice network signal has changed, somehow.

In terms of "bars" being anything close to an accurate measurement of signal strength, good luck with that. The signal strength meters have no standards and vary widely from device to device. Maybe someday that will change, but in the meantime an application like Rossum posted is the only way to get an accurate reading of signal strength. There are others out there, maybe try a different one.
