But you'll never know for sure unless you give it a try.
TBH, at this point its just not worth the aggravation. Better to just chalk it up as a loss, and a lesson learned - never talk to the cops.

I agree Mike, if I had to do it over I would have just let it go with that guy, it was a waste of time and more money lost then if I just let it go and all I got out of it was short term satisfaction, it wasn't worth it. Ironic part of it was when I fired him I never intended to go after him for anything, I told the wife we would just chalk it up to a bad experience, get someone else to do the rood and move on. Then he decided to pull the police into it so he could return the materials and get money that money back, that's when I got mad as hell and everything changed, I should have just let it go.

The one thing I had going in my favor, I told my sister what had happen and that I planned on talking to the head Sheriff, she said, "Don't you remember when we use to play in the yard at Grandma and Grandpa's when we were kids and their neighbor was that nice man, he's the head Sheriff". I didn't realize that's who he was so when I went in the next day I told him who I was, he loved my grandparents and that got me in favor for a good outcome, that was by pure luck, he's now retired.

I will say, if ever I'm in any kind of situation involving police again, I'll keep my mouth shut, call an attorney immediately and let the attorney deal with them, I carry a couple phone numbers for attorneys in my wallet.

$500 isnt worth involving an attorney over.
I tried calling ebay and PP, they just point fingers at each other.
Lessons learned.....
things must have changed :( years ago i was told that ebay keeps a discretionary fund to make good when a seller is not above-board. at the time i was pleasantly surprised to get my money back but it was far less than 500 bucks

Now they say that their "guarantee" is only good for 6 months. Since the cops werent fast enough I dont qualify.

I'm lucky that we have what I call a country lawyer close by, she isn't someone I'd want defending me in a case where I could face jail but she's great for civil, property, wills and traffic tickets. Last time I went to see her when I started having problems with the people who have an easement to use part of my driveway she charged me $25 for the half hour consultation. Most of the other lawyers around here, for a consultation, would charged $50 on up for 15 minutes of time, can't imagine what they would charge in a big city....

That sucks the big one @mikepetro. I guess you have to put yourself in the owner's shoes. I would want my stuff back if later found. Man tho..... 500 beans gone, poof. $500 one year rental fee? The only thing that gets me out of a one of those "well, isn't that just my luck" funks is to tell myself, it could always be worse.

Escribe does a fine job of indicating if there is a problem. Over yonder I've seen a lot of discussion about the B oxer with that style of contacts (series though). They were hitting cell soft cutoff way early.

Good to know.

The last Ebay purchase that I received the seller ordered it from China and shipped it to me when it arrived at his joint.
It appears that with my last purchase the seller did the same.
I could do that myself if I wanted it 12 - 14 days later.
(all non vape related so no real hurry...but pricier)

I'm just wondering what ebays stance is on helping with the sale of stolen property ? I don't do ebay so I would not know what their rules are if it is determined as in your case that they were the middle man so to speak. I even think pawn shops have to be careful in that regard. Just a thought... Just really sucks...

Well it turned out that the Ebay item that I was waiting to be shipped was sitting in my living room where my son put it upon delivery today.
There was no tracking, that's why I thought it wasn't even shipped.
It arrived via Amazon. If I wasn't such a nice guy I'd wait another 10 days and contact him through Ebay stating that I didn't receive it and see how that plays out.
