Back in the day when I used my smok Zmax it never sat long enough for me to realize that it will drain the cell down to zero volts while idle.
So I go to use it today and it's dead. I shirt can the battery. I get up for work and decide to check it's voltage as it wouldn't activate the charger. I turn my meter on to check it and it turns right back off, dead batteries. I change the 4 AA batteries in the meter and found that one had started leaking. The leaking cell was one of the AA alkaline one that came with the meter.
My way of making sure the problem doesn't re-occur it to use NiMh cells although that still could happen anyway.
My meter is pretty new, a cheap but pretty good cheap one. I purposely chose one that took AA cells over a 9 volt battery but now I'm not so sure about my choice.
