With the TCR setting for SS430/430F it seemed pretty over powered. If the amps on the screen are correct I had to set it for 17 watts to get 35 watts. Power in non TC with normal is pretty close to set wattage. Yep pretty poor at TC.

I have 2 of those Captains, They work all right in TC with Titanium!
I used them for a whole season, the dual 20700 config was nice & a 30m sits perfect on them. I got them from FT with 2 Ijoy 20700's included for $45 each :)
They work as good or even better than a Yihi chip mod! For a lot less money :)

For all you Windows & Android People. My son brought in his Mac Laptop for repairs, it's 3 & a half years old & he got a new battery & a new retina screen all for Free! Some Quality Assurance Program! I paid a fortune for that thing, but some times you get what you pay for! So when you see the price tag on that new IPhone, at least you know Apple will stand behind it!
BTW we have No Apple Care & we bought No extended Warranty!

That is what happens when you pay 3 times more than what it is worth. But you could have purchased 3 Windows machines for the same price and run 10 times more software. And if it wasn't for Windows, Apple would be charging 10 times more for their product. ;)

And things isn't always so rosy on the Apple front. As the only Apple product I ever liked was the iPhone SE. Bought my first and only Apple back in October 2017. Finally a small and affordable Apple (one just under $500 [that's cheap for an Apple product]) with a real headset jack (many iPhones doesn't even have one). Then by November 2018 it was discontinued without any warning whatsoever with nothing from Apple to replace it with. And don't get me started about all iPhones has no consumer replaceable batteries without any memory slots. :-x

You get what you pay for Bill! That may not all ways be the case, but it is with Apple computers :) Who would stand behind their product like Apple just did for me? In todays disposable every thing economy? I honestly thought, I was going to have to buy Him a new one! After all it's 3 & a half years old!

I remember a day when we bought quality products that lasted! Those days are gone :(

Sitting down, facing forward.
I don't think the days of quality products are gone. It's just that the quality products have gotten so much more expensive relative to the "not so quality" products and you have to be very careful when buying things.

I've never gotten into the apple crate and have no intention of doing so, even if crapple includes making me coffee every morning. My current craptop, an Asus, is about five years old and still going strong running Win10, now. It came with XP and has been upgraded with every iteration of Windoohs. I did pay for Win7/Pro, but that's the only expense for the OS. I've also added memory and had to replace a hard drive. Total cost of ownership for five years, about $600USD. not too bad for a, relatively, inexpensive craptop.

well, i'm on a dell ;) pretty sure that was the boy's birthday present back in 2010 which was recycled back to me a couple of years ago when his college laptop (2006) running xp pro that also had ended up back with me was no longer supported.
now, if his current surface pro ends up with me down the line that would be the first of his laptops not bought by me. guess the boy is growing up! ;)

I'd consider myself a devotee (not fanboy because I don't openly and enthusiastically promote them) of a very few products, but notably Apple and Evolv.

Apple - I've been using their products since the mid 80's. It has a solid Unix/linux base, and I grew up on that forward slash. I can and have patched and rebuilt my own kernel when necessary. Never ever a virus and I do not run any virus software. I've suffered one catastrophic failure earlier this year, and 1 browser hijack due to my lapse of sanity. I think I've only called in for support once or twice and it got escalated to a senior engineer pretty quickly.
Evolv - Solid TC, ability to actually see and tune what's going on, but number 1 .... their real warranty. ;)

Serviced Apple products back in the days of the Macintosh //c up until the PowerPC was replaced with Intel. Built and serviced business servers/workstations for years after that, gave it all up and now I work in a local Vape shop. ;)

I don't have a loyalty to any one OS or platform, there is good and bad in all and I can basically use anything that is put in front of me.

Mac Os is Unix (not Linux) based which can be developed in any way shape of form. Some of the worse OS’s I’ve experienced are Unix, but they can also be some of the more stable a secure - all depends on the application. No OS is void of malware, and Apple is not an acception to that rule. True more virus are developed for Windows based PC, but that is strictly due to sheer numbers and not because they are more vulnerable. That said, Windows security when it comes to malware can be argued as being a better platform given the many technology partners involved. The Flashback virus, which exploited a Java vulnerability was not OS dependent. Microsoft worked with their tech partners and a patch was quickly developed thus stopping the spread. Apple does not use native Java, but their own proprietary version that is still based on the Java core and still susceptible to this virus. They insisted they were to develop their own patch, which took months to roll out. Damage was already done.

Driver support is much the same. MS relies on the hardware vendor to provide driver updates outside their native drivers within the Windows OS. Apple consults with the hardware vendor, then writes their own drivers and includes them within the OS – updates come in the form of patches or a new OS but are slower to roll out than Windows. Both environments have their pro’s and cons. Personally, I prefer to control my hardware drivers. But that is me!

Part of my profession involves vulnerability management which includes access to industry databases, some unknow to the public. Throughout the years, the common trend was Apple Os X had more vulnerabilities than MS. Lunix (in its many forms) was even higher. That said, detailed analysis is needed for they are scaled based on execution and severity. And given both OS’s must use the Intel x86 architect, hardware vulnerabilities can be the same across both platforms. But in a nut shell, Apple is no more secure than Windows – what is key is correcting these vulnerabilities before they are exploited. Both companies do a fair job at that.
