FLORIDA: But what about all these kids here on spring break?? They spend a lot of money here!

LOUISIANA: But wait let’s have Mardi Gras first. It entertains people.

Yeah I know, I just see these pics of all these bright eyed beautiful wemen, with big smiles on there faces, that look like they really all ready had their coffee. It was a bit refreshing to see one showing what I really feel like when I need it.

Two questions for CALIFORNIA:
1) How long do you think you can keep things shut down before you have an economic collapse that makes the Great Depression look like a picnic at Disneyland?
2) What happens to the number of virus cases the moment you re-open things because you've concluded keeping things shut down is going to end up killing more people than the virus itself ever would have?
Yes, I realize that asking these questions will not win me a popularity contest. But they are questions that should be asked.
One other aspect is that high rise buildings are much more common in NYC and the five Boroughs. High rise buildings use elevators. How does one "social distance" in an elevator? Can anyone say vertically moving petrie dish?
But if the economic collapse saves the life of just one child, Rossum... It will all have been worth it. And no one has ever died of an economic collapse, we'll just print more money everything will be fine, that worked out well for the Weimar Republic.

Indeed. Elevators and extensive use of public transportation such as subways and buses.
Plus there's the fact that medical personnel who are working with COVID patients all day long go home at the end of every shift, using those same means of public transportation and elevators. I'll note that China didn't allow this in Wuhan. Everyone working with COVID patients during the height of their outbreak had to live in isolation apart form the general population (they set up dedicated facilities for this), and had to stay in isolation for two weeks after their hitch ended. I realize this would be more difficult to implement in the US, but I bet NYC has a bunch of empty hotels about now...
But, gosh Rossum, can't we just print our way out? If people are unemployed we'll just give them an income, everything will be fine, it will just be like they weren't unemployed, they'll spend. Good times. Get the presses geared up and printing.
