Alright , I am going to take a chance to make an .... of myself by ASSuming that most vapers are ex smokers, if that is true, then why would anyone try fruit /food flavors over tobacco? after all, what you smoked was tobacco flavor cigarettes ,then why would anyone consider other flavors when they switch to vaping?

I'm not judging anyone's wisdom or meaning to be critical of your choices, just curious to find out what made you walk away from vaping tobacco specially when you were hooked on smoking it for years.

I found tobacco flavored juices to be poor substitutes for real tobacco and they just made me want a smoke. So I found more enjoyable flavors that tasted nothing like tobacco and had no problem from then on.

I smoked a lot of quality cigars and good pipe tobacco and to me, not a single juice comes close to tasting anything like a good tobacco. But we aren't smoking anything any more, why limit yourself to poor reproductions of tobacco? There is a whole world of flavor avalible.

Distrbd, welcome to ecf! I didn't pick up a tobacco vape until I had been vaping for 9 months. I wanted nothing to do with them; I was too concerned that the flavor of tobacco would derail my efforts to quit analogs. Everyone has their own way. I'm firmly in the camp that suggests folks find a juice that they love - no matter the flavor profile. Just my 2 :2c: ...

I had always smoked a menthol cigarette, so I never had an interest in tobacco flavors. My first flavor was Ice Menthol, and was close enough to my Marlboro Menthol to make my transition quite easy.

It didn't take me long to try other flavors such as fruit and coffee flavors. Why not? People snack on fruit and candy and may drink coffee throughout their day.

E-liquid manufacturers are rather limited in how they can create their flavors. They generally use artificial or organically extracted flavoring agents generally used by the food industry. Since no one wants food to taste like burning tobacco leaves and smoke, there are no flavoring agents specifically available for a tobacco cigarette taste. IMHO, a new vaper might as well avoid trying to find a "flavor like a cigarette", and find one that they like that tastes like their favorite fruit, candy, desert, or coffee.

That's exactly what got me to try other flavors. I started from Analogs to a cigalike, and had no other option but a tobacco flavoring. When I went to EGO, I went to RY4... but switched to caramel, Dr. Pepper, then moved slowly towards fruit flavors. I purposely switched away from tobacco flavorings because the whole idea was to quit cigarettes totally, and have no want or desire to go back. My reasoning was, the less it is like a real cigarette, the lower the chance I would relapse. I don't think I'll go back to analogs, but I still don't want to get used to a tobacco flavoring. This was actually a conscious strategy to get away from tobacco.

Another partial reasoning I wanted to get away from tobacco flavorings... one method used to make tobacco flavoring is to pretty much make a tobacco "tea"... put tobacco leaves in PG (or VG), let it soak in, then filter out the tobacco leaves to leave just the juice. Some of the other chemicals the tobacco flavoring might reside in the flavoring juice. I have a feeling that's why the FDA is finding some of the chemicals in a regular cigarette are in the cigalikes they test, and why I think testing cigalikes is a very unfair way of judging ecigarettes... since they aren't testing what the majority of dedicated vapers are using.... refillable cartomizers.

The first flavor I tried was a tobacco flavor, and it was AWFUL! I mean, gag-me AWFUL! I had also gotten a bottle of raspberry, thinking to maybe mix them, but I never touched the tobacco flavor again. I went straight to fruits, and now I'm starting to discover the wonder of dessert flavors. :p I never want to vape a tobacco flavor again. It was just icky to me, and yes, I smoked for over 40 years. Vaping a tobacco flavor isn't the same as "smoking a cigarette" though. Two totally different things, at least to me.

I participated in a new product test, where I received a carton of cigarettes -- two packs each of five different blends. For each, I was supposed to rate my evaluation of the flavor. I had never before focused on the taste in my mouth after smoking a cigarette. It ranged from awful, really awful, to downright foul.

That was a huge stride for me in the direction of not smoking, and when I did decide to try vaping instead, assuming that's what tobacco tasted like, I wanted nothing to do with it.

I didn't smoke because I liked the taste. I smoked because I liked the way it make me feel and I was addicted. So when I started vaping I immediate went for a tropical flavor. Not everyone likes/liked the taste of tobacco. Same reason a lot of smokers puff on menthols. It's all preference though.

Yep. It was never about the tobacco flavour for me. It was always about the habit and I didn't even think about the taste.

As a matter of fact, my last couple of years of smoking consisted only of flavoured cigarillos or cigars. Smoking tobacco flavoured ejuice never even cane to mind once when I started vaping.

When I went to start vaping, the salesman set me up with unflavored juice - I didn't even know it came in flavors! Until I started to run out a month or so later and went to the store to get some more and discovered all those wonderful flavors waiting to be tried. When I did finally get around to trying a tobacco flavor, I thought it was the worst thing I had ever tasted. Only tank of juice I ever dumped. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. Ended up giving the bottle to my brother-in-law. I don't know what he thought of it, I didn't care as long as I didn't have to vape it.

When I started I used a tobacco menthol and stuck with that for awhile until I just took a risk and tried a fruit blend from my local vape shop. Boom instantly hooked, I did continue to add menthol to my fruit flavors and eventually got off of menthol completely. I've been through a wide range of juice flavors, right now I am doing a fruit tobacco mix. Don't knock it 'til you try it.

When I switched, Tobacco Flavors were very Poor IMO.

I'm not a big Fan of using "Substitute" Flavors. I don't like Most things that "Taste Like" something else. Like Diet Coke.

I also wanted to put some Distance between Cigarettes and Vaping. So using Fruit was a Good Choice to me.
