Well, now I have to take back everything I said about hating the tobacco flavors. I probably still do hate a straight tobacco flavor, but someone just sent me some of Nicoticket's "The Cure," which has tobacco flavoring in it, along with S'mores, and I LOVE IT. I can taste the tobacco, but it's smooth and not overpowering. Not at all like the stuff I tried at first. So maybe I'm not a total tobacco snob after all. LOL! I guess it depends on what else it might be mixed with. ;)

I still like my strawberry/cream/custard blend for all day, though. It's soft and sweet and like eating a soft strawberry cookie of some kind. But The Cure is very good!

Most tobacco flavors I've tried are outright awful. There are a few NET's I enjoy, but there's some questionability involving the quantity of diketones/other stuff that might occur naturally in the extraction process, so that kinda rules it out.

I stick to lightly flavored fruity juices and unflavored VG/nic these days. Unflavored juice is the closest to smoking a real cigarette I've ever had in a vape, because when you smoke a lot of cigarettes you kind of forget the taste, they start to taste like nothing, very similar to how unflavored is. At first you're like "eh this tastes kinda like Vaseline" but you get used to that very quickly, and then it tastes like nothing and you're just exhaling unflavored vapor. Feels very analogous to smoking.

Having chewed "WB Cut" chewing tobacco on the farm as a kid. To me, the tobacco flavors I have tried taste nothing like the real thing!
I ended up using mostly fruit flavors because they don’t destroy atomizers like some of the thick candy juices do, in 2009 I was vaping wild cherry and green apple, 2010 I started mixing my own ejuice, rebuilding my own atomizers and went with mostly flavorless Hi nic ejuice.

Went back to analogs when I got tired of all the fussing around with ecig equip and juice.

Bought a new istick30 and evod2 tank this spring and was so happy with the new tech that I also came back to ECF to see what else is new.
Ah, UPS just dropped of my DIY ejuice stuff. :)

Alright , I am going to take a chance to make an .... of myself by ASSuming that most vapers are ex smokers, if that is true, then why would anyone try fruit /food flavors over Tobacco? after all, what you smoked was tobacco flavor cigarettes ,then why would anyone consider other flavors when they switch to vaping?

I'm not judging anyone's wisdom or meaning to be critical of your choices, just curious to find out what made you walk away from vaping tobacco specially when you were hooked on smoking it for years.

Availability.

When I smoked cigs it was a matter of availability.
I would have preferred a pipe.

Smokers tend to settle on to a particular brand.
Why is that? It's a matter of taste. If there were fruit and other flavour cigs I'm sure smokers would have tried them, but there were not.

The only reason I took a long time to even try non tobacco flavors is cost. Eliquids are too expensive to buy a bottle to try. Only a couple weeks ago I bought a bottle of hazelnut, and I'm sure I'll never want to vape that stuff again.

I did vape tobacco flavors for the first 7 or 8 months. Then they lost their appeal. I then tried Roobeer which was a lot like tobacco and became a rootbeer fanatic for another six months. Today I enjoy some fruits as in Peach, grape and a few others. Now on Peanut Butter flavors. I enjoy most flavors now but hate tobacco flavors. Moral of my story I suppose is tastes change over time and one never knows where they are going to end up. Just jump on the train and ride. CHEERS!

Whew, great question. Short answer...they all taste like celery to me. I've tried upwards of 50 different tobacco flavors and still have a half dozen in the back. They were supposed to improve with steeping, nope. Celery is all I taste. I didn't smoke cigarettes because I liked the flavor, I just smoked a brand that was less awful for my tastes. I actually enjoyed the flavor of the original Blu, but their delivery system isn't the best, and a tobacco flavor called American Standard by Vape Dudes. I wanted a couple of different flavors and ventured out. Over three years into it and I still only like three flavors, a creamy coffee, Bavarian Cream desert, and strawberries and cream. Searching for my next knockout flavor, maybe a great blueberries and cream?

Because we didn't have a choice other then plain or menthol flavors. Now I have the choice to vape whatever flavor I want, and with DiY, not even the government or FDA can tell me I HAVE to only have nasty tobacco flavor.

I was on the quest for the "perfect" tobacco flavor, and received a free sample of strawberry kiwi. Decided to try it and really enjoyed it.

Switched to fruit flavors and never looked back.

Switching to fruit flavors is truly my break through moment as I wasn't looking for something that tasted the same.

After 2-3 months, after my senses of taste and smell came back, all of the tobaccos began to taste awful...and I mean all of them: I tried dozens. Fortunately, during my "great tobacco hunt of 2012", I picked up a cherry cigar flavor that was more cherry than cigar. That's what kept me going and also opened my eyes to other fruit flavors.

I think the main reason is because the only choice was pretty much smoking plain ol' cigs, or smoking menthols. You didn't really have any other options.

I think the real question is why WOULDN'T anyone try fruit/food flavors over tobacco? After all, what you smoked was tobacco flavor cigarettes, then why wouldn't anyone consider other flavors when they switch to vaping and suddenly have such a wide range of options?

I have a serious sweet tooth and my first e liquid was a chocolate tobacco, so it satisfied my tobacco craving and my sweet tooth. I started to get into different devices, atomiser technology changed, rdas came into the picture for me etc. and e-liquids really exploded so I got curious and started on caramels. I realised I was really satisfied vaping flavours that had no tobacco in them and it went from there. Now I don't think I would ever vape a tobacco. I just don't want to vape something that tastes like a cigarette, but if you'd told me that at the time I bought my first ego c-twist and plastic clearo, I'd have laughed.

I started out with tobacco flavour. That lasted about 2 weeks...novelty wore off and began tasting awful to me. I decided to try black honey tobacco and vanilla tobacco which I quite liked...for a while. I never thought I'd like fruity flavours but as time has passed I now enjoy them. I have a sweet tooth so eventually gave custards, vanilla bean custard, creme brule and my latest, coconut cream pie...that one was a disaster! To me it tastes like the last gulp of milk left in the fridge passed the expiry date. Blech! Oh well, live and learn.

Lately my favourite all-day vape is Earl Grey Haze - a combo of Earl Grey Tea and Hazelnut. I was hesitant to try this one but I love it. It's subtle and quite lovely.

You just never know where your tastebuds will take you!

Cheers
