I have never seen any direct snobbery here, I think this is a remarkably cohesive group actually. I do (and maybe this is my own insecurity) feel a bit odd because there are plenty of posts looking down on the set up that I have chosen with my cig a likes. Not everyone wants or needs to evolve from cig a likes, in my case, I think it is a frequency issue. I calculate I go through 2-3ml a day. Compared to many users on here, that is not a lot of juice, and my little batteries last plenty long for me, I have several, I love my little cartridgrs, love my juices, I am a happy girl.

So it is odd to see my cig a likes, for lack of a better word, bashed. I get the feeling that the experienced vapors assume all us sillies who use them will come around eventually and get "a real set up". That mentality, while not overtly hostile, does not always feel good

There is no correct vape setup.

The only measure of the setup you use is whether or not it works for you and satisfies your needs.

The cigalikes I tried didn't do it for me. My first standard ego starter kit did, cheap 650 mAh battery with a cheap CE4 clearo.

I have upgraded several times since those, not because the starter kit wasn't doing for me anymore but because I turned this vape thing into a hobby.

Same thing happens in world of guns. A guy will buy the biggest handgun he can find to use as his personal defense everyday carry weapon, gives him bragging rights (in his mind). Within a couple weeks he decides it's just to heavy to carry and too hard to conceal. He refuses to buy smaller handgun claiming they are for girls. So now he no longer carries. We have a saying, the best gun for self defense is the on you will actually carry.

Therefore the best eCig rig to carry is the one you use to keep you from smoking cigarettes.

Today I got so frustrated trying to figure out how to take a coil apart, that even though I had a functional clearo on my iTaste and it was working just fine, I grabbed my eRoll just so I could feel like I was smoking -- that's what I always did when I got frustrated with some piece of tech. It worked great too, the thoughts of a cigarette stopped distracting me from what I was doing, and I finally worked it out. so, although I prefer the flavor and throat hit I get from a clearo on my iTaste, those cigalike Erolls are a godsend sometimes!!!! Anything that keeps me from smoking, BRING IT ON!!! :D :thumb:

I think the "snobbery" comes from some people who started out vaping, and not switching to vaping as a way to stop analogs. We (hopefully soon) ex smokers have a common bond of suffering through the quit attempts, banishment, and general ostracism. Not saying all vapers-only are snobs or no ex-smokers are snobs, just my two cents.

Ostracism is right... I got so used to prefacing EVERYTHING with "..and I'll go have a smoke first..." It's nice to be able to live in my own home again!!! :D (it's also nice not to receive those LOOKS, when you're hanging outside in freezing temps, like are you crazy? Yes, completely crazy, I'm standing out here freezing to death, breathing poisonous smoke into my lungs! bring on the white coats and butterfly nets!!!)

It's the inexperienced vapers who behave that way, most of the time. Those who started (or joined ECF) a few months ago, got those big rigs and now feel superior to everybody else. Pretty typical around here. They love to post in New Members forum not so much to help newcomers but to brag.

Most real vets have started with cigalikes--there wasn't anything else around then. It took me months to finally get an eGo--they seemed so big to me. :D

But a funny thing happened to me after a couple years of vaping--I didn't want a cigalike anymore. Somehow, my brain wanted to completely disassociate itself from smoking. Vaping was different, and I wanted it to be different. Now I use larger batteries because I'm a vaper--and it has nothing to do with smoking. I can't really explain it very well, but something clicked in my brain. Many of those who recommend bigger batteries usually do it because they are much happier with APVs--not necessarily because they look down at cigalikes. It's complicated. :)

That said, I know many 4- and 5-year old vaping veterans who still use cigalikes and/or small eGo-class batteries. Because they like them. :D

Do what works for you--and don't let anybody intimidate you.

You n me both Vermonster. In fact I'm using an eGo Twist right now. :D And plus one on the comment. Heck - I still rate and exclusively use the Kanger T2 as the best workhorse easiest to fill n go clearo EVER. Am I saying that's for everyone? Nah? Does it fit me? Like a glove my dear. Like a glove.

I still have eGos I use 5 years in. I use lots of gear that I like, doesn't make it better or worse than the choices others make, just the right choices for me. Vape on.

Oh, I agree. The T2 is the most underrated clearo out there.

And it's the only top coil model I really like! :)

I recently started vaping, like a few wks new, trying to quit analogs due to stroke recently, and I went to a well known vape shop new to our town, they sold me an ego type setup, and seemed kind of ok at the time, but I went in this week, and was trying to tell them what I was looking for, explaining that I had a stroke, so I couldn't remember names of things very well, and asked to bear with me, not only were they very "snobby", the whole time I was waiting for them to build my coil he ragged on me about buying juices online instead of from them. I explained even though he could clearly see, that I can't drive due to a now paralyzed leg, think he let up after that? Nope! Only got snobbier. But this forum here, not one single person has made me feel lesser or stupid in the short time I've been on here! ECF is the best, and has given so much support it's blown my mind! I'll never leave this site for another! Unless the snobs in my area take it over!

Dear Lord... That's just awful. I'm so sorry, Alicia.

If you need any kind of help--just holler. I'm in California too, and our local B&Ms are very friendly. What a bloody shame.

Thanks Katya! You are exactly the type of person I was talking about on this forum! Unfortunately, besides having to rely on someone to drive me, I live in small town USA, and if I need something fast I have no choice but to give this establishment my business. Needless to say, I hit up a website, ordered 2 new batteries, like 10 new tanks, with replacement coils, and a 7 pk of ce4 clearos. I have a hard enough time dealing with trying to put the analogs down and working on recovering as much of my mind and body as I can, to have some jerk pass judgement on me!

I think whatever is working for you from the cigalikes to high end mechanical mods to quit smoking is totally cool.
Not everyone will like the same things, and not everyone wants to mess with wrapping their own coils or wants to sub ohm, and blow huge clouds.
The important thing is getting off the things that are killing you in a way that keeps you off of them.
I think the members here understand that, and want to not only help others to follow that path but also share the knowledge they have gained from their own journey if it can help you.

Dear Alicia ,

That's not snobbery, it's shamefully rude. I also believe in karma ..

youre right, it is rude, and I also believe in karma, but I gotta tell ya, for a moment or two I believed that karma was going to come in the form of me or my 18 yr old over protective son wrapping my walker around his throat! Lol!

Well, they are shooting themselves in the foot, if you ask me. If that's any consolation. If you want to stay in business, you have to take care of all your customers. :D

My cousin does this. He's always showing off his latest high-tech this or that, and expresses considerable disbelief that I'm happy with a basic eGo style single-voltage. And he always has to point out his newest topper (that never seems to work quite right during the demonstration for some reason).

His latest was his Provari. "So, when are you going to get one?" After looking at a device that I frankly considered ugly, I was tempted to reply, "Never. I have a sense of style." (Sorry, Provari users, I'm sure there are plenty that aren't fugly, it's just that his definitely was). Plus I'm a fan of thin, light, and basic black.
