Wow... I looked those up, and I better win the lottery first!

I went looking for other mechanical mods, and I found one that's actually not much more than what I paid for the iTaste vv3... the Kamry K100 R-Scope ... quite petite, and looks like it could get the job done! And what I love about these things is being able to replace the batteries... that's just brilliant, IMO. It's only more costly than the iTaste *because* you buy the batteries separately, so that's very cost-effective (and actually I got a dirt-cheap price on the iTaste... even with the battery, this is cheaper than a lot of the prices I've seen for the iTaste vv3). I think when I get to the point of purchasing my first mechanical, this will most likely be the one, it's so inexpensive.

No snobbery here, but lots of poverty! How the heck did I afford cigarettes all those years!!!

Andria
I'll admit they aren't the cheapest...but with a lifetime warranty that even covers scratches to the finish *Shrug*...I did pay $125 for one just over 3 years ago, but it's seen 3 years of every day all day use (and it's been dropped from 2 stories up, dropped in mud puddles and pools, and run over by a forklift)...I'd have paid way more to buy and replace anything else....but it is a good amount to ask someone to pay up front..

Ps...please when buying batteries for a mechanical, don't cheap out on them...the batteries that often come with kits are often sub par at best, possibly dangerous at worst..

We've been lucky here in the Midwest I guess. Most of the shops within 50 miles are OK. There are a few that the wife and I frequent regularly due to various reasons. A few have great selections of everything, good tasting bars and prices that rival internet prices. A couple I will not walk into again. You know the places....charging $1 per ml for very marginal juices, $100 for a vamo, etc. If a place doesn't t offer near 100%vg I don't buy their juice. Our regular Vape shop sells Sony vtc4's for $11, Tesla's for $75. You can't beat those on the internet. They never try to force rba's on newbies that I have seen and have a great selection of blister packs and ego batteries for those just starting out but also a nice selection of much clones, kfl clones, etc for those that are advanced. You can tell real quick who's in it for the money and who is truly interested in serving the vaping public.

Well, I think I've been guilty of the snobbery around town... I do hope I've not done that on ECF! I've been pretty insufferable about my beloved Provaris and IBTanked tanks, but hope that might be forgivable.

Case in point, I dropped a v2 with an IBT from the front seat of a van to the driveway last weekend--that's a four foot drop to solid concrete. Scraped a tiny bit, but NO breakage and no issues. Suck that, stupid, expensive, junky cig-a-like I started out on!!! Ooops... sorry. Yup, that was snotty.

I wish I had been there.

An overprotective son is one thing. Someone like me takes it to a whole new level though.

I had a bad experience at a car dealership service department. Had a service tech who was very rude to me. Sure, a good cussing out would have been good enough for most people, but not me. I happen to work as a systems administrator for a company that is frequently hired to find and contact people in and for corporations, so I'm REALLY good at finding people.

Only took me a few minutes to find a personal email address of the owner. Sent a nice long email to him personally explaining my displeasure with his employees. Now, I am quite sure he was shocked to find that in his personal, non-business related email, but not as shocked as that service tech was when the owner went looking for the person responsible for him receiving nasty email at home. By 9AM the next morning their service manager had called me, promised to pick my car up and bring me a brand new Mustang to drive while mine was being worked on (It only had 11 miles on it when they dropped it off).

The way to get the attention of a big company is to go straight to the top. Find the owner, president, or CEO and contact them directly. Trust me, those people NEVER want to get direct complaints, and when they do they go looking for heads to chop off.

Couldn't agree more...works well in any situation! :)

I've been lucky so far and have not experienced much snobbishness from anyone. Most everyone, especially here in ECF, has been supportive and non-judgmental while offering their experiences and opinions. For that I am grateful, because it never feels good to be judged and judging someone who is starting on their vaping journey can really discourage them. And discouraged people go back to old habits, which in my case, smoking was killing me. Encouragement and support increases someone's odds in sticking with new behaviors or hobbies. At least, that has been my experience.

Keep the vape and namaste.

So what device is this $125 gem that you speak of? Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that thread here about a battery exploding and hitting someone's kid... Think I'll stay with high quality on the batteries, even if I get a cheapie mod. I do the same with any batteries I buy; yeah the ones at the dollar store cost a whole dollar, but you only get about a dollar's worth of use out of them. I started buying those latest-greatest from Duracell, for my camera and whatever else -- it's always nice to know that you can count on your battery! Considering that my PV has definitely saved my life, it should get only the best. ;)

I totally agree, ECF has amazing people and 99.99999999% of them are the nicest folks you'll ever meet. But even on this perfect site their are those that (passive aggressively) force their own opinions on those that don't even know what's going on in the vaping world yet. The few that do, have this very see-through "I know more than you, stop sharing your opinions" attitude about them. And to be honest it doesn't affect me in the slightest because this isn't the most important topic in the world (although potentially life saving), and not worth arguing over with those that share the same hobby. I don't want to point any fingers because I'm sure many have their bad days, but those that have been on this site for a long time seem very...territorial lol

I always get a chuckle when someone posts a thread asking something like "which ego battery would you recommend? Brand A or Brand X?"

Shortly after, you'll have someone suggest they go buy a DNA20 mod. LOL

Yeah that happened to me in the new member's forum, about 2-3 days into this adventure, when I was asking about cigalikes. Someone piped up with something impenetrable about a drip and a mod and god knows what all.

In the N.E.T. forum, when I mentioned googling "Virginia Slims taste" someone piped up with "yeah, go to google, they know LOADS more than we do about tobacco..."

Well, got news: that google link led me RIGHT to the e-juice I was hunting for... the kind that TASTES LIKE VIRGINIA SLIMS! Which nobody here apparently knew about...??? So... neener neener. :D

I'll say this to start that I'm new on ECF and everyone has been very helpful on here thus far.

As for local shops, I've only checked out a couple. First one I went to, I did get a sense of "elitism". I think this had something to do with the fact that I came in with one of those "cigarette look a like" setups. I wasn't ready to buy something different. I just wanted to see what was out there. He asked what I was smoking and I pulled it out and it was instant night and day difference in his attitude. Instead of being encouraging that I was quitting smoking, it was more like "that is crap, you need to buy this and while you are at it, this is the best e-liquid we have and you need to buy that too". I wasn't looking for a pat on the back but it was a little too much for me. I never went back.

Then, that same evening, I went to a different shop. TOTALLY different experience. Everyone there was super cool. I explained my situation and they were awesome. We chatted a bit and he gave me a drip tip and a battery and said "Go have fun, let me know if you have questions". I tried nearly ever darn flavor in there and ended up buying a kit. People were also just sitting in there vaping and lounging. Several even came up and asked what I was buying and were interested and gave me some cool "Hey man, check out this juice next time" advice. These are people that didn't even work there.

So, I've experienced both ends. Luckily, I found a good shop that I feel comfortable going into on a regular basis now.

I've only ever encountered this on YouTube and one other forum to be honest. But in reality, any popular video on YouTube will attract the same. Armchair experts that know everything about everything. People on here are amazing, as others have said, the mix of newbies, veterans and people who have learned a ton just by reading thousands of threads on here is refreshing and always entertaining.

There was actually a TV show about this here in the UK a long time ago that was brilliant. People such as gamers who claimed to be experts on certain racetracks because they had driven cars in a game so many times were put to the test. Needless to say this super overconfident guy spun out, wrecked gearboxes and just made himself look very silly indeed when driving real cars :D Would be nice to meet some of these 'experts'!

But yeah, ECF is like a huge friendly family where anyone is welcome and nothing is sniffed at. I'm vaping on around £270 worth of gear right now, but at the same time my daily go anywhere vape is an Ego-T that I picked up for £8 :D

Since I started, I use "Ego Twist" and "Ego-T" and satisfy me fully.

I Use Evod, T3s e T3, because it is easier to fix the resistances and spends little material. But I still have T2 and Mini Vivi, I use very little!

I bought an e-vic, on impulse, but I do not I adapted, I use only to test the resistances which repair.

With the exception of my first kit, I bought batteries and accessories in FastTech
because it is cheaper and within my financial limitations.

I believe that everyone has their preferences.

Sometime saw a beginner inquire about a starter kit and many suggested more expensive accessories, believe it is necessary be consciousness at this time.
.
A beginner need 2 simple and small batteries because they need to adapt and then buy expensive accessories (if like and can). If he does not like or does not fit , do not spend too much!

Sorry to all if I'm being too simple , but it's what I think ...

I don't know, but I kind of like it when people don't know as much on a subject as I know, for the main reason I like to give them tips for a better vape (or whatever the subject is).

Even veteran vapers don't know everything, I showed the guy that owns the local shop a couple things and he’s been vaping since 2009 and I have only been vaping for about 8 Mo.

I still have a ton to learn, and things are constantly changing.

We do have a guy who is a little elitist at the B&M, but I actually get most of my stuff from him. My wife likes the lady and the tall guy who work there, real nice ppl and I think they may be married. I prefer the challenge of knowing more everytime I go in and breaking the wall he hides behind, LOL. He actually told me his name the day I tried (purely by accident) the juice that is his daily and said "I'll take this one".
